Racism is prejudice backed by power, and not just of the legalised variety. It’s people with power exercising it against those who have less and can be anything from passing discriminatory legislation (like the US narcotics laws that criminalise the powdered form of cocaine popular with WASPs to the crystalline form most common amongst African-American and inner city communities despite being the same stuff) to taxi drivers dodging dark skinned passengers.

Particularly upsetting to see from someone whom I very much doubt is out of high school. At least when it comes from an old bugger you can say “well, they will die out soon and be replaced by a more tolerant generation”. This IS that “more tolerant” generation!

Probably not dissimilar to the situation with Subiaco Oval and Glory – apparently the terms were very generous, just so the administrators could get some summer use. No doubt this is part of why the new stadium project is designed to take on T20 stuff, as well as having bump-in seating and the like.

It seems so simple on the base of the rules – if you get tackled after having had an opportunity to dispose of the ball, you’re gone. Otherwise, its a ball-up. Its the waiting to see if it comes out that I think is the problem; doubly so as it gives time for more waves of players to arrive at the ball.
