I am a league fan, with only a casual interest in rugby. Any chance of you doing some league/NRL articles? Would be greatly appreciated!

You mention some great points in this article. I am curious on what your (or any other knowledgeable roarers’) thoughts are on the existence of a significant skill and talent “gap” between the players of the two rugby codes (in Australia). Does rugby really do enough to expand their player base, and do enough to combat the young talent identification resources of the NRL?

Consider our backline in the recent Sprinboks test:

9. Will Genia
10. Bernard Foley
11. Reece Hodge
12. Kurtley Beale
13. Tevita Kuridrani
14. Marika Koroibete
15. Israel Folau

I just cant help but think how much more potent (basic skills/talent-wise) this potential Wallabies backline would be:

9. Cameron Smith
10. Cooper Cronk
11. Israel Folau (if he was still playing league, he would no doubt still be in the kangaroos team)
12. Johnathan Thurston
13. Greg Inglis
14. Valentine Holmes
15. Billy Slater

Imagine how many more Webb Ellis trophies we would have won if we had this team available to us over the years!

Not here to start a code war guys (zzz). Just genuinely intrigued.
