A rusted on Reds fan, Wallabies tragic and obviously a glutton for heartbreak.

Most likely no, this was already a clause I believe to the policy (think Pete Samu, Matt T 2.0)

RA's strategy to replace Giteau Law for eligibility puts pressure on Rennie, RWC hopefuls

Very keen to see where they play QC in the d-line. Defence is his most notable skill deficiency and with Kerevi potentially in the 12, this may prove some challenges to shore up the mid field..HP can’t tackle them all.

An option will be to move QC to fullback for defensive passages and (Hodge?) into 10 as the WB’s, Reds, Rebels have done in the past…however that was before 50:22 was a thing so positioning will be critical for QC

CONFIRMED: Quade Cooper returns for Wallabies at No.10, Rodda starts, two debutants

Right after you mop up the Reds’ carnage 😉

CONFIRMED: Key dates and format for 'Super Rugby Pacific' announced with extra 'derbies' flagged

Good call – then again the structure of Elite Schools being the only pathway for kids into rugby these days needs to change. There is room in the public system for rugby to thrive. Especially with the prospect of kids picking up Euro contracts vs NRL ones. If this is combined with better “sabbatical” style contracts (1 in X seasons spent O/S) then I think we could keep the talent and (dare I say it) pinch some from league

Why changing Giteau Law would be hazardous to Australian rugby

Ha! Thanks Ad-O

Fan anger is certainly a criterion that is a firm fixture in RA decisions passing a pub-test these days

Why changing Giteau Law would be hazardous to Australian rugby

My morning shower thought was along a similar line (perhaps not A-League as they have had some mounting issues with administration) however NBL definitely, especially post broadcast deal. Sheffield Shield and One-Day Cup come to mind too here….

Some great comments here MD.

Thankfully, cooler heads are (seemingly) prevailing with RA striking out an “open border” style selection policy.

Perhaps the sensible position to be in as a selection committee, is to not be bound by policy when selecting overseas players. Instead of limiting it to 2 heads under the 60 cap rule, perhaps it is considered on a case-by-case basis where selectors have the ability to surpass any quota in order to select the best on form.
This may be enough of a “dis-incentive” to move overseas for some players knowing that only those at peak form are considered for WB’s ?

Maybe splitting hairs in fairness on my part…

Timezone, population base and broadcast quality will be a factor here, which doesn’t bode well for whats on offer in NZ.

The Thursday rugby two-up: The Rugby Championship is here (somewhere)

Did Duncan need to sign with a Super AU team to be eligible here? I don’t see a mention of it and presume still signed to Toulon?

Quade Cooper added to Wallabies squad as 'mentor' but available to play in Bledisloe Cup

Quick…change him with James Doleman!

Seriously though….can we start to question NZ refereeing performance relative to at minimum Aus (as showcased through AU, Aotearoa and TT) It is now at the point where NZ commentary team are envious of the manner in which Aus referees are officiating…which is to not be seen.

CLEARED! Koroibete set to face All Blacks as judiciary overthrows 'travesty'

This is a great comment. Coaching in modern times is more about communication and stakeholder management than “heart on your sleeve” styles revered 20years ago.
This is where Brad Thorn needs to develop to enable him to step into a National role and why RA favours Dan M as a naturally successor to DR.

How the Wallabies are winning back the public

Well said Hoy – I posted earlier in the week hoping, praying, rain dancing that Doleman would not “pull-a-Doleman” and interrupt the ruck, scrum, scrum, line out (entire bloody game) with the aptitude of cauliflower ear…..I was again left with my pants down (no comment on the other times…)

Reaction: Rennie to ring changes after emotional French end 31-year hoodoo

They are certainly a special breed…like scrum halves.

The Wrap: Australian rugby, you have two important jobs this week

What do we think about DR’s open analysis of the French game in the media?

Personally I find it fascinating to get an insight into how they pull a part an opposition game (and its seems poignant and mature in it’s critique)

‘We’ve got to be better’: Rennie makes just one change but demands more from 'soft' Wallabies

Good point, however given that this particular call was 1 of several “dubious” decisions made in the game, one can be forgiven to draw a line from Doleman’s “interruption” and test match level competency required.

The Wrap: Australian rugby, you have two important jobs this week

Here’s hoping we have seen the worst Doleman can offer a rugby game..maybe Hegarty can pop into camp to give a “Doleman interpretation” of knocking the ball dead in goal….

The Wrap: Australian rugby, you have two important jobs this week

What is classic is that this is a trained, known technique to almost any prop of standing in world rugby. Yet ‘Nella attracts the most attention…looking at you spidercam.

Wallabies winners and losers from frantic French Test

Dude was sporting a few extra baguettes and wheels of camembert vs Splat Toomua

Wallabies winners and losers from frantic French Test

THANKYOU!

Someone talking some sense – I would almost call this an Oz 2nd’s also, certainly that backline anyway

Wallabies winners and losers from frantic French Test

I think a combo of Hunter P and Izzy P in the centre pairing sounds deadly personally.
Toomua was there for experience, yet adds little value. Gordon was underprepared and Hodge has played bugger all footy since missing SRTT.
The question on halfback will be whether Tate perform better with tired forwards being a running halfback and therefore coming off the bench adds the best impact?

Wallabies winners and losers from frantic French Test

This hate about French being without its top players is akin to spoilt kid sulking over a bigger slice of birthday cake.
Lets not forget injuries to:
– Jordy Peteia
– Suli Vunivalu
– JOC
– Nic White

All of which would be in that backline if healthy. This is a group of young Wallabies with a handful of avg. caps amongst them.

Celebrate the win, of course their are improvements to be made but for the sake of girls and boys watching a winning Wallabies team – drop the cliche fickle Aussie rugby supporter. Just back them in.

'Absolutely mystifying': Selection mistakes that almost cost Australia

Stop the hate, these lads are young and many tests in front of them. Of the debutants on the park, all 3 stood up and had a crack. I love this. This was for the gold jersey, this was for the 20K that got last minute post lockdown tickets. This was for my son and daughter who were screaming at the telly with Dad all night. Well done fellas.
