There has been a very long list of howlers by Ashley Klein in particular listed on this forum by both myself and others. Clearly you had your head in the sand.

Breaking News: ‘If Souths are in good shape, league is in good shape’: Bennett finally confirms Rabbitohs return

Wayne Bennett will be coaching Souths from next season (2025 – 2028). That is the only positive takeaway for Bunnies fans this round. That and the fact that a 6 point loss is Souths smallest loss for 2024. Now that the cat is out of the bag about Bennett’s return to the Bunnies, I am sure the players will find a little extra for next weekend. If Hornby wants to improve on his 0% winning record as an NRL coach, he should seriously consider swapping Latrell and Jack Rabbit and playing Cook at HB with Cody. Teapa is still a long way from ready, and Souths need a spark NOW!

Cowboys snap losing streak against sorry Souths - but don't be fooled, this was still poor from Payten's men

The majority of comments on this forum in reference to Ashley Klein invariably single him out as the worst referee in the game. These comments call into question both Klein’s competence and impartiality. They also agree that Klein is consistently inconsistent in his rulings based on the colour of the jersey committing the indiscretion. That equates to bias. What drives this is open to debate but not the manifest examples that confirm Klein is anything but impartial in his rulings.
.
There is no such thing as ‘selective incompetence’. The law of averages would suggest that if these howlers by Klein were the result of incompetence alone then it would surely even out in the long-term. But it doesn’t. The same teams keep benefiting from these howlers and the same teams get at the wrong end of the stick.

Yeah, let’s reward Manzelmann and QLD for not allowing the tackler to get to their feet and to marker by jiu-jitsu moves to keep them off balance.

Broncos take advantage of home comforts while Sea Eagles stuck in purgatory after 'hosts' lose thriller in Brisbane

Manly was a sure bet to make the finals in what proved to be Des’ final year at Manly but ‘the rainbow’ rained on Manly’s parade and the club descended into a shambles with a schism resulting in a chasm that Manly’s finals hopes disappeared into.

It was both pathetic and outrageous that Sea Eagles owner Scott Penn, who was responsible for the rainbow jersey fiasco, disappeared into the shadows and left Hasler to front the media over the fallout of the ensuing division between Manly’s playing roster.

I thought Hasler was all class in that interview and he went above and beyond for the club and his players. That’s something Anthony ‘white-ant’ Seibold will never do. Just ask Corey Oates.

The easy solution is to ensure that while ‘Magic round’ is held at Suncorp stadium the Broncos are always scheduled for a home game that round.

If you noticed the vision from the dressing rooms Adam Reynolds is putting a lot of work in behind the scenes with the Broncos halves and it is showing.

IMO TomTrbojevic has forever lost his mojo after a string of injuries robbed him of his top gear which is why, one of the games great players, will never be a ‘Turbo’ again, but instead ‘Tommy two gears’.

Tom T. is still a top player and a genuine threat to any defence due to his other assets, his footy IQ and ability to read a game and invariably put himself in the right position to maximise his chances of success. His size and physical athleticism and competitive nature also mean he is not done yet with the NRL.

But, IMHO, the time has come for Manly to pull the pin on Tom at FB and move him to the centres. Koula I think will make an ideal replacement as custodian if only he can master the art of catching bombs under pressure. He has all the ingredients for success but will need to learn from Tom how to guide the team from the back field.

The NRL bunker is a nest of incompetence at best or a focal point of corrupti0n at worst. The NRL bunker has Zero transparency, Zero scrutiny and Zero accountability. This gives rise to the massive potential for match fi.xing. Hence, my ongoing NRL Triumvirate through line.

Last night in the Live call Manly vs Broncos, a fellow ROARer commented; ““It’s very difficult to conclude that the game is officiated with a straight bat these days.”

That’s because it isn’t. For the record, that was Manly supporter Hard Yards who also commented in reference to the blatant forward pass Try to Manly’s Reuben Garrick;

“I’ll put my hand up and say Reubs’ try was awarded by an escapee from a lunatic asylum.”

There are firm grounds for suspicion that the NRL is scripted for ratings and marketing of the game for expansion to increase profits for the NRL and revenue and market share for the broadcasters.

Although it is highly unlikely that every result is controlled, games are clearly and consistently being nudged in the direction of a few teams in particular and, each season without fail, of the teams in the top six. Especially when compared to the inconsistency of rulings with respect to the bottom six teams of the competition.

How else do you explain the Rabbitohs being ‘fated’ with having the worst referee in the NRL by unanimous popular opinion, Ashley Klein, as either referee or senior review official for the majority of their opening games of the season.

Last night when Manly scored off a pass that was at least a metre and a half forward simultaneously 11 ROARers called the ball forward. Unlike the NRL officials our eyes are clearly not painted on. So I came up with a suggestion to fix the broken NRL bunker system…

Here’s a tip Peter V’Landys. If you want to fix the broken bunker system give a button to the 11 ROARers who all simultaneously called that pass forward. Majority decision shows on the bunker screen. What could be simpler?

But if Mexicans really don’t give a RATS behind I’m surprised you even bothered. It seems to undermine your assertion.

Just 613 comments since June 2023? I think you’re a tr0ll profile. ‘sooky la la’? Clearly you didn’t grow up in Redfern. You sound more like the product of a private school education. Real value for money that was in your case. 😂

Of course Harry Grant got off.

#NRL Triumvirate

If that was Damien Cook or any other Rabbitohs player would they be shown the same leniency?

Also, with Origin around the corner, keep an eye out for similar leniency shown to QLDers going forward.

Does it make any difference? There is no Origin qualification required to peel oranges and run water bottles onto the field.

Latrell underwhelms on return but Lomax underlines Origin case as Dragons defeat sodden Souths

I am so over the mollycoddling of Latrell’s supersized ego. He has no shame. No regret. No respect for anyone but himself. I felt sick watching him laughing with Jack Bird after the game as if the Bunnies had wonthe game.

Or watching raise his arms to the crowd and hamming it up after his sideline conversion.

Latrell can’t read the room because he can’t see past his own ego!

I think his defence is good enough tondefend in the defensive line and his ability to read unfolding attacking structures and organise his defensive line will benefit his defensive reads at centre.

The key argument against playing Tedesco at centre in Origin is the timing of his first game in that position at that level of pressure.

Centre nervous system: Specialists better suited to crucial spot with Turbo out - but could Tedesco make Blues switch?

II would play Dylan Edwards at FB over Tedesco. On last year’s form Tedesco would be in my NSW team. This year he has stepped up his game but still been well off his best. I would play Tedesco at centre. Especially if it saves Souths having to lose either Wighton or Latrell for the Origin period. Frankly, Latrell’s name shouldn’t even enter the conversation atm.

What he achieved with a team stacked with rep players like Cam Smith, Billy Slater, Cooper Cronk, Greg Inglis et al most decent coaches could have produced similar results. Especially Wayne Bennett.

I will give Bellamy credit for the systems, professionalism and standards that the club are known for. I will also give him credit for all the che@ting tactics he employed at bringing wrestling, juice jitsu and rule changing moves like ‘the grapple’, ‘the chicken wing’ and ‘the crusher’ into the game.

Bellamy also gets credit for being the first coach involved in playing chicken with the NRL salary cap system which gifted him a team of rep players to dominate the game.

At State of Origin level his winning record dropped from 69% to 22%. Country Origin 33%. Bennett’s Origin win percentage is 55%. Bennett’s winning percentage as an International rep coach is 65%.

Bellamy has ONLY had coaching success at the Storm. Nowhere else. Bellamy will never coach another NRL club and test himself outside his comfort zone. He will never win an NRL premiership at another club like Bennett, Sheens or Gibson.

When it comes to a discussion about the greatest coach the game has seen Craig Bellamy doesn’t rate a mention among the aforementioned 3 coaches who have tested themselves and achieved premiership success at other clubs.

An impressive win by the Broncos tonight without skipper Adam Reynolds. They made the most of their opportunities in wet weather and the Eels didn’t.

I remember a time when I used to go for every team that played the Broncos. Now that I live in Brisbane, and the Broncos have Adam Reynolds as captain, ‘excitement machine’ Reece Walsh at FB and Kevvie Walters, my favourite QLDer, as coach, I feel unduly influenced. I miss the old days.
