Mealamu’s inconsistency in throwing (accuracy let him down) counts him out of this one.

Who are the greatest All Blacks since 1970?

The benefit of just using saracasm as your modus operandi all the time is that you can take a bob each way when you get called up on it.

1. “But I was just joking, come on where is your sense of humour?”
or
2. “Yes, I was being serious, I was trying to make a valid point. Why don’t people take me seriously anymore – maybe I should stop being sarcastic all time.”

Tim Paine must go

The ABs effectively played their “Finals” intensity game against Ireland and we’re cooked and smoked by the time they came to back it up against England the following week.
The entire AB Forward pack went missing in this one – I don’t even remember seeing Read during the game – where was he? , there were very few standouts. Without any go forward the Backs were on a hiding to nothing – so as to which Backs didn’t step up is a moot point – behind a pack going backwards they had zero chance of salvaging that game.

Whilst I give Credit to England for taking it to the ABs – the fact they controlled territory, rucks, lineouts and possession – yet only had 12 extra points to show for it – I wouldn’t be getting too excited about the “English era” of dominance of Rugby – just more 10 man drudgery rugby.

Where it all went wrong for the All Blacks against England

In Game 3 the QLD Forwards really stepped up compared with the demolishing they got in Game 2. However Game 3, the Backs really let the team down with plenty of blunders all round.
Hunt and DCE too many blundered kicks and plays. DCE’s last kick was a debacle when the only option should have been a drop goal.
Mbye, Oates, Chambers let the team down with fumbles, knock-ons and cheap penalties given away when discipline and composure were needed. Gagai and…..who was there? Yeah that’s right can’t remember – because they made no impact. Lowe had a good debut first game and Munster was a monster on attack.
The Forwards generally were good and made good metres and really stepped up the defense in that last 10 min burst at the end.
But I must say there is very few of the current backline that are the makings of a dynasty QLD backline.

India thought they were batting in India. But they were not. It was Adelaide

My only conclusion as why Chieka etc are still there is that Chieka has a compromising video of the heads of the RA hidden away in vault somewhere. No other rationale can explain why he is still there!

To save the Wallabies, Clyne, Castle and Cheika must go

Hi Nicholas, great article and always enjoy your analysis. With reference to the tight Ireland/ Lions defense, that the key is there Arrow/ Triangle ( 3 players rushing the ball carrier). I believe from your previous articles that the the key to counteracting this is 1. quicker distribution to the centres/wings beyond the 3 rushing defense players or 2. short kick and chasing recover over the top of the rushing players. Does that sound right?
How does an opposing team deal with this tough wall of defense?
Thanks
