Round 25 Talking Points: Knights turn back clock to glory days, Sharks capable of finals bite, Benji can restore Tigers pride

Forward line looks a lot more dynamic without Buddy too.

Footy Fix: The Crows were stone cold robbed... but they've only got themselves to blame

Big concern heading into finals. Last year it was 3rd quarter fade outs. So hopefully next year it’ll be gone.

Problem is that the Lions don’t win at the MCG.

Instead of just a box of balls that are whatever overs old, maybe they should have seperate boxes e.g. 0-10, 11-20, 21-30 etc.

Another suggestion for slow over rates is to have a shot clock like Tennis introduced for in between points and if the bowling team goes over it then a free hit is awarded to the batter. Or if a batter is deliberately time wasting, dock them 5 runs.

There's an easy solution to 'Ball-change-gate' - and fixing it could also solve Test cricket's biggest problem

Yesterday was Smith, Ussie, Warner, hazlewood, Starc, Lyon (didn’t play), probably Neser (didn’t play) last Ashes test in the UK.

Going to be a vastly different team in 4 years time as well as 2.5 years in Aus.

Flem's Verdict: Stokes’ spirit of cricket goes out the window over catch while ICC needs to sort out ludicrous ball-swap farce

They should have had England all out for under 200 in the first innings and then our batters didn’t capitalise in our first innings either.

Every player rated from the fifth Ashes Test: Spinner shines, Davey defies doubters, but is Cummins cooked?

Aus just needed one batter to step up in either innings and get a big 100. They continuously gave the advantage to England with silly shots over the series. England also bowled a lot better than our seamers. A series that got away for Australia

Smith or Head need to step up in this innings and post a big hundred.

Warner loss sours Aussie comeback as Starc inspires England collapse despite drops aplenty

With the over rates being quite abysmal from both teams this series, will they even qualify for the WTC final?

Flem's Verdict: Aussies will be galvanised to shut up England’s PR machine after washout kerfuffle

Still a relatively young team, I think they nearly pulled an 08 Hawthorn last year, give them a year or two more of development and they’ll be back.

The absence of T McCartin and Rampe has hurt them massively.

Who was the club coach?

Blues save Best till last as Bradman runs amok to deny Maroons series clean sweep, both coaches could head for exit

first session is different to first ball, his mindset was likely “everyone above me failed, so just have fun” or something like that.

Opening puts a lot more pressure on him to perform. I’m definitely not defending Warner, I don’t think he should’ve been in the team in the first place. Someone who can blunt the new ball and tick over singles would be my prefernce, Renshaw….

COMMENT: Australia left it too late to fix Warner problem - we're stuck with him for the series

I think Marsh opening is a bit wild. He doesn’t play with soft hands at all, I’d expect him to nick off in the same manner as warner.

COMMENT: Australia left it too late to fix Warner problem - we're stuck with him for the series

I don’t blame warner for losing that test, openers get out cheaply sometimes. I blame the collapse in the first innings, shonky field settings and labs/smiths terrible shots in the 2nd innings.

If they do drop Warner, then it’s Harris last chance to cement a test spot, he’s done everything to earn his spot back. I remember JL and Haydos had their last chance around 30 and cemented their spots.

Warner, Head or Harris to open, Green vs Marsh, Boland or Hazlewood, Murphy worthy? Aussies facing selection dilemmas

The little amount of footy played during pandemic years is probably a blessing in disguise, letting his body mature a bit more.

Nick Daicos is completely and utterly bonkers... but where does he sit among the greatest 20-year-olds ever?

Even flem is calling for a bouncer barrage! The english batters are waiting for them and hanging back and just swinging for the fences. Bowl full straight ones, one will have their number.

Flem’s Verdict: No momentum change after narrow loss but Warner on last chance and Aussies need Wood plan

The negative fielding tactics were bewildering.

Every player rated from the third Ashes Test: Poms' wonderful Ws, Warner nightmare and Bison brilliance

So you don’t think Aus will win one of the next two tests?

Marsh only bowled 6 overs too, ScoBo was having little impact. Marsh could have bowled a lot more overs.

Warner no guarantee to keep spot as Cummins says harsh to drop Marsh after 'impressive' Test comeback

I think the fields to open the days play were horrific. We were defending 250 with two days left, all out attack was our only option.

Ashes alive: Brook, Woakes, Wood the heroes as England clinch thrilling run chase despite superb Starc

yeh fair call. I will say that he hasn’t been batting with that fierce determination lately and seems to be getting out to rather silly shots more often.

Ashes alive: Brook, Woakes, Wood the heroes as England clinch thrilling run chase despite superb Starc

Clarke was saying on radio that old trafford is probably a good spot to play head as opener as it will reverse and spin the longer the test goes on. So drop warner, head to open and put green at 6 or 7 with a license to attack.
