“Speaking as someone who lost their boyhood club when the NRL started up”

South QLD Crushers or Gold Coast Chargers, jimmmy? Remember, foundation clubs like the Rabbitohs, Bears, Tigers and Magpies were also casualties of the NRL’s formation to make way for a teams from Melbourne and NZ. Even though the Auckland Warriors were part of the ARL prior to the Super League war and the NRL.

Even Perth’s Western Reds got shafted and now they are still waiting for an invitation to the party again.

A simple plan for NRL expansion

“The Sydney Roosters:Tigers/Magpies just rolls off the tongue.”

Why not just call them the “Sydney Haggis” and be done with it. No one knows what’s in that either. Other than that it’s an unnatural concoction of offal more fowl than fair which kind of sums up the Roosters in any case. 😂

A simple plan for NRL expansion

Firstly, I’ll ignore the obvious statistical anomaly regarding membership numbers between the Rabbitohs and the Eels. Obviously these numbers were tallied by a Dominion voting machine and have little relevance to the facts. Everyone knows that the Rabbitohs have the largest supporter base in Sydney and all of NSW.

With the plummeting number of Broncos memberships the Bunnies should be sitting at the top of the membership tree. After all, no one breeds faster than Rabbits!

Southern Ospreys? Yuk! I thought you might have called them the “Southern Right Whales” because that is actually an actual classification of whales but just as hard to swallow as your option.

Manly-Darwin Sea Eagles… Is that what you get when white-collar socialite aspirations meet Neanderthal performances and achievements? You may have actually found the missing link there! 😂

Adelaide Rams… already tried and failed. SA doesn’t give two hoots about Rugby League so you can’t call them the Owls either.

Morton Bay Dolphins, my favourite option for a new addition to the competition. I have supported the Redcliffe Dolphins in the QLD Cup since January 1999. I still wish they could retain their original name but I understand the need to broaden their supporter base.

At the end of the day it’s the same old argument. People who support clubs that are safe from threats of merger, relocation or elimination throwing other clubs under the bus. I’m not a fan of that. Rabbitohs fans know all too well what that feels like. It should never happen to any other club ever again.

A simple plan for NRL expansion

“He even fudged his numbers”

Are you accusing me of fudging my facts jimmmy? To quote the famous philosopher Homer; “Fudge! Hmmmmm!” – Homer Simson 😂

Cosmological constants, expanding universe… oh, you have NO idea how much I can talk about that subject jimmmy.

We can talk about the horizon problem with the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB), the remnant of electromagnetic radiation from the beginning of the universe, the echo of the Big Bang, another time. Along with brane multiverse theory and how the Big Bang and cosmic inflation violates the laws of thermodynamics and the general theory of relativity.

But in the meantime… I’m no Einstein but I am right about this. 😁

Or I pop the champagne to celebrate premiership number 22 for the Bunnies, Flexis! 😁

jimmmy! 😱
Too bad I missed jimmmy unleashed! 😂

Jordan Cookie will still be faster in his late 30’s than most players currently in their 20’s. Besides, Cook is a different style of hooker than Harry Grant.

Cook is 1st for dummy half runs, effectively in the top 10 for linebreaks (along with Tedesco, RTS, Dufty etc) and effectively 6th for total tackles.

Let me know when Harry Grants tops Damien Cook for stats.

“Took you two hours to bite on that.. musta been sleeping”

I was in shock DPS. Little jimmmy Olsen never said I was wrong before. It hit me like kryptonite for a second. That and the fact that even in QLD you have to work from time to time if you won’t get paid. And Freddie warned me not to blow my cover! 😁

“Send me the winners of the next round then willya? My tipping needs help.”

Struth! 258 DPS? Have you been picking winners with darts at the end of “Happy Hour” again? 😂

I thought “WE” were doing bad on 98! Although I dont know who Foxhat is so I will have to shake them loose this week.

You’d be better off asking souvalis the Mediterranean fish shop owner at Cronulla beach for tips. He’s leading the ROAR pack on 11th with 36 and an 81 point differential. That’s 4 correct tips and 18 points differential ahead of me.

My tip for this week in the ANZAC Day game, tip with your head and not your heart. 😁

“2nd ladder – Lost to Storm last game”

Has “Happy Hour” started early at your local Flexis? The Rabbitohs last game was a dramatic and glorious golden point victory over the Tigers. Big Tom Burgess finally redeemed every dropped ball of his career with that fingertip put down in extra time. Lucky for Souths Tom didn’t cut his fingernails before the game.

You can hardly single Cookie out for blame for state or national rep losses given he plays in a team sport.

What was Harry Grant’s win/loss record with the Tigers in 2020 when they finished 11th with 7 wins and 13 losses? Does that reflect on Harry given that he played in 15 of the Tigers 20 games?

Time to consider Plan B Flexis. Happy Hour isn’t meant to start until after 5pm and from the sounds of it you are in no condition to drive home. 😂

Btw, did I not mention I am the president of the Harry Grant fan club?

The Panthers will go to another level with Apisai Koroisau's return

Why do you think I moved to Brisbane matth? When the ice age cometh the equatorial regions will be the last to feel the impact. And since QLD is an hour behind the rest of Australia that will give me an extra hour to prepare. 😂 😂 😂

That and the fact Freddie sent me up here to undermine the fundamental skills and junior development of all North Korean QLD juniors and, working for the North Korean QLD government, I’m ideally situated and in a position to achieve my objectives.

Give me a decade matth and you won’t be able to tell if QLD juniors are playing Rugby League, AFL or soccer! 😂

I did say that I thought Grant will catch Cook in time. Although not literally. Only the Foxx could catch the road runner but not over 20 metres.

I was talking Harry Grant up from his first game for the Tigers last year in the same way I have been talking up Sam Walker since his first game in the NRL. Special players are easy to spot and I believe Harry Grant is a special player. I’m even the president of his fan club. 👍

Vossy even quoted me word for word and we all know what a doyen of the game he is Albo. 😛

The Panthers will go to another level with Apisai Koroisau's return

Very funny Nat. You get points for the degree of difficulty in trying to conflate the Warner Bros. “Road Runner” of the NRL Damien Cook, one of it’s fittest, fastest and most athletic players, with the Winter Olympics spectator on skates Stephen Bradbury.

But you overreached in trying to portray Danny Buderus as a caretaker hooker/dummy half. Buderus played 24 games for Australia and was the incumbent hooker between 2001 – 2006. Cam Smith couldn’t get a look in as the Australian hooker until Buderus stepped away from the NRL to chase big money in the English Super League at the back end of his career. Ricky Stuart, the Australian coach, stuck firm with his decision to only use players currently playing in Australia and thus Cam Smith, the true “Last Man Standing” got his opportunity. 😂 😂 😂

And THAT’S how a banter Jedi master turns one of the game’s greatest players into Stephen Bradbury! Watch and learn Nat. Watch and learn. 😂

Billy Brittain had plenty of wraps in Souths lower grades. He won player of the year for the North Sydney Bears in reserve grade back when the Bears were a feeder club for the Bunnies.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t transition into the NRL. To be fair he was behind Damien Cook, Robbie Farah and Cameron McInnes. But looking at the impression already made by Harry Grant and Sam Walker if you are good enough true talent is never unappreciated and is always in demand. Even if players are in reserve grade, if they have talent they will be picked up by some club or other.

For example Souths can thank the Titans for Chris Sandow and Cody Walker who were languishing in the Titans lower grades. Likewise, Jaydn Su’A and James Roberts were playing in QLD Cup in a feeder club for the Broncos. So thank you Broncos!

Although Souths probably got conned taking Jimmy the Jet off the Broncos hands.

The Panthers will go to another level with Apisai Koroisau's return

IMO Brandon Smith is a better 13 than a hooker. I think he will stay with the Storm and play 13 and cover for Grant with Finucane switching to cover wherever he is needed in the forwards.

Brandon Smith would be a quality addition to the Dogs IF he is prepared to join a team that is in the process of rebuilding instead of playing with a club guaranteed to finish in the top 4 each year. Good luck landing that big fish TB.

Kenny is the best option currently available for the Dogs IMO. Billy Britain played lower grades for the Rabbitohs and debuted in the NRL for Souths. I don’t rate him. He, like Mitch Rein and Michael Lichaa fall short of NRL standard IMO. No doubt you remember my warnings about Lichaa? Well, was I right?

The Panthers will go to another level with Apisai Koroisau's return

With all due respect jimmmy you have been agreeing with me for years so don’t start doubting yourself now mate. I stand by my track record including predictions that Cook would play for NSW in Origin and take over from Cam Smith as the incumbent Australian hooker. This was long before anyone gave Cook the slightest chance of playing rep football.

Also, I predicted that Cody Walker would play Origin and was the player who most resembled Cliff Lyons heads up ad lib style of play and in how he was always several plays ahead of the opposition. This has been repeated by numerous commentators on FOX Sports and CH9. I also highlighted the understanding between both Cook and Walker and how they played off one another and could read and anticipate each other way back when Cameron McInnes was a Rabbitoh. Additionally I clearly remember debating TB about each of the aforementioned and TB, I was right.

I also said Cameron Murray would play Origin and make the NSW side before Victor Radley who at the time was the clear favourite between the two. I said Anthony Seibold would bomb spectacularly at the Broncos and drag them into the abyss with him.

I said Manly would struggle this year not only without Turbo but because they were missing Fornua-Blake and Thompson and they would be soft up the middle and on their edges. I also didn’t buy into the hype about Barrett to the Bulldogs and their new recruits predicting they would struggle and finish in the bottom 4 of the ladder.

I tipped the top 3 in order at the finish of the regular season would be 1. Panthers, 2. Rabbitohs, 3. Storm and that prediction is tracking nicely. As well as my prediction that the Roosters wouldn’t finish in the top 4, and that was before losing Keary for the season.

I also said that Todd Payten would not be able to turn the Cowboys into a top 8 side with his current squad.

I could keep going jimmmy but I will declare my innings there and remind you I was right about all the aforementioned… including Cook vs Grant. 😛

The Panthers will go to another level with Apisai Koroisau's return

100% correct. Bustle them and get in their face. Line speed in defence is key with an alert sweeper to cover the short attacking kicks in response to this tactic. Also the third defender in should block the offload to shutdown the Panthers second phase play.

But doing that for 80 mins and limiting your own errors to maximise possession is easier said than done. If the Panthers dominate possession they are very hard to keep out. So dominating possession and controlling where the Panthers get the ball is also key.

To achieve this teams need to avoid conceding six again calls that make the job exponentially more difficult even at the risk of giving the Panthers a bit of momentum. Remember the ultimate goal is to deprive them of possession.

“Melbourne have the best 9 in the comp”

Whoooow jimmmy! I am a huge fan of Harry Grant but Damien Cook can’t be so easily dismissed. Remember Cook is still the incumbent Australian Hooker and NSW Origin hooker playing in a team coming second on the ladder.

Remember jimmmy, Harry has only played 19 games in the NRL and 1 game in Origin compared to Cook’s 129 NRL games, 9 games in Origin and 4 games for Australia.

I have no doubt Harry will get there eventually but he is still a long way off his best and still the heir apparent to Cook IMO.

The Panthers will go to another level with Apisai Koroisau's return

But who is available atm TB? Who would better fit the bill? The Dogs can’t afford to be too picky atm. Not until they become more competitive which will attract better players.

And NO! You CAN’T have Cook back! 😛

The Panthers will go to another level with Apisai Koroisau's return

Attention Bulldogs, Sea Eagles & Broncos: As soon as Api is back go hard after Mitchell Kenny once he is relegated to reserve grade and may the best team win.

You all desperately need a decent hooker/dummy half. I thought Turpin looked promising but he has been stuck in first gear this season. No doubt a byproduct of Seibold’s mad scientist experiment gone wrong.

I’m just winding you up andrew. But seriously, the Charity Shield is down the rabbit burrow and never seeing the light of day again. 😁

The Roar’s NRL expert tips and predictions: Round 7

I suppose the reason behind including the Dragons andrew was to give them a second bite of the cherry to win a ceremonial trophy against a foundation club.

Let’s face it mate. After losing the last 9 straight Charity Shields to the Rabbitohs and losing 11 of the last 14 contests that ship has sailed mate. The Dragons are never going to lift that shield again.

DON’T read that DPS!
