I like Peirson and I think he has real talent but he is not in discussions at the moment because he is not good enough. Once he learns his batting craft a little batter and gets his concentration levels up he will be in the mix. He has all the skills.

I have done it Mark. I moved back to Sydney in 2012 from the Sunshine Coast, I had not really followed league for many years. I worked at Waverley Council and in order to connect with the staff there I had to reacquaint myself with League, it was the major discussion point. In 7 years there I might have heard AFL mentioned 3 or 4 times. I now work for a Council in Melbourne and having not lived here before I have been shocked by the amount of talk around Rugby League.

Talk to any worker on a building site, at a council depot or the average punter at the pub in Sydney there is little to no AFL talk.

I grew up in the western suburbs of Sydney and attended hundreds of league games and by far the worst crowd behaviour I have ever witnessed was at a Port Adelaide vs Sydney semi final in the early 2000’s. That is not to say all AFL crowds are like this but mark you are just making it up as you go along, no idea.

The NZ players want to return to their families and resume their lives not be in isolation for 14 days. That’s what I would want to do and anyone who loves their families would want as well.

Superspud that is exactly what is going to happen. Very shortly restaurants will be closed (to diners, open for take away orders), shopping centres will be closed etc. I’m not sure anyone outside of the government sector really appreciates what is coming.

Micko, if the NZ team didn’t get back into NZ by last night they would have had to do a 14 day quarantine period. So they obviously didn’t want that. Same with Aus touring NZ shortly, so both tours were cancelled.

Hi Ronan, great article. I also believe in that first match that Australia’s score was actually recorded as 268 as a six had been signalled as a four (Shastri giving the umps a bum steer), this was questioned at the break and the score adjusted to 270, they then win by 1 run.

You’re probably right but I think he will, he has just put up a good score in BBL and has a proven record in English conditions. Harris is falling away currently and I think he will struggle in swinging conditions.

What's wrong with this season's BBL?
Spot on David. I still have the feeling that Oz cricket just don’t get it, seniority rules. Same happens when the new batsman is picked, regardless of skill or ability they are made to field at short leg. Until these internal decisions are made on merit not seniority it proves nothing has changed except sledging.
