Blake is a liability and is rocks and diamonds but you have to go through a hell of a lot of rocks to find those diamonds, and they aren’t all that impressive anyway. Takarangi is much more consistent. You know what you are going to get with him. He was the person largely responsible for Semi Radradra’s success in the NRL drawing two defenders and giving Semi a clear run down the sideline more often than not. As a Souths supporter I’m very happy to see Ferguson and Blake defending together. Let’s not change anything. Even better if Fergo is on one leg. 😉

The year Fatty coached the maroons to a shock upset win over the Blues during the Super League war when greedy QLDers lead by John Ribot nearly destroyed the game was the only year I cheered and supported their success mate. As far as backhand compliments go this was the best I could come up with this early in the morning. 😉

How can Brad Fittler justify dropping David Klemmer for Origin? I think the first Tevita Tatola try under the posts summed up Klemmer’s lack of intensity, commitment and resolve when he became a spectator and watched as Tatola scored rather than making the effort to get involved and prevent Tatola getting to the line.
That critical lack of effort at a crucial time in the match screams that, from a mental standpoint, a player isn’t up for Origin. Origin is all about repeat efforts on a single play. It isn’t about clocking off and becoming a spectator. If Klemmer wants to do that he can buy a ticket and watch from the grandstand.
Except for 2 missed tackles to D. Saifiti’s 1 missed tackle Klemmer had respectable stats. But Origin is as much about quality of effort as it is about quantity.
Even so in 55 mins Klemmer managed 14 runs for 129 metres (9.2 metres per carry) compared to D. Saifiti’s 40 mins for 13 runs for 137 metres (10.5 metres per carry). Tatola played 43 mins, scored two tries and still managed 13 runs for 133 metres (10.2 metres per carry) with 2 line breaks, 5 tackle breaks and 100% tackle efficiency. Klemmer missed 2 tackles from 36 made and he didn’t make a single line break or tackle break.

At this point Big Mig I’m cheering for a Rabbitohs vs Raiders GF. Souths have the best chance against the Raiders and the Storm and the Roosters are finals specialists who “somehow” seem to get all the #sixagain, “stop the game for a cramp 40 metres downfield” calls their way at this time of the year.
It will be tough trying to beat the Eels and then the Panthers in successive weeks and frankly, I was worried that the Bunnies 60-8 win over the Roosters was their GF. They put everything into that game and seemed to leave nothing in reserve. I’d be happier if Latrell Mitchell and James Roberts were playing. Jaxson Paulo isn’t ready for first grade yet and his defensive reads and poor tackling technique is killing us. Smart sides will exploit that.
If Souths don’t at least get as far as the preliminary final then Seibold “the lemon” will still have bragging rights over Bennett and Demetriou and the team looks much better this year, even without Latrell.

Simmo, even the refs themselves get confused half the time, and they have inconsistent interpretations of the rules from game to game. In the heat of the moment it is a lot to expect of players under fatigue. At the end of the day the ref could have screamed out “You can’t challenge. Play on”. Remember, Graham called for a challenge before the tap was taken.
At the end of the day, Andrew Fafita is a massive boof head and he let his club and his teammates down with a self-indulgent rubbish play and suffered the consequences for it. Graham as the captain should not have clocked off. The same goes for the rest of the Sharks side. If they were watching the ball and keeping an eye on Wighton as should have been they would have seen he was looking for a quick tap.
It just all felt a bit #sixagain to me. Referees who either got it wrong or failed to communicate their decision or available options to players leaving them confused and disadvantaged. Cummins again looked like a marionette being controlled by his earpiece to change calls and then never explained the reasons behind the changed call. At this time of year it just isn’t good enough.

As long as Souths sign Rabbitohs junior Josh Addo-Carr instead they can have him. The kid has too high an opinion of himself without even a single game in the NRL to be demanding that sort of money much less insisting on having “get-out” clauses inserted in his contract. There doesn’t seem to be much gratitude there for all that the Rabbitohs have done to help develop this kid’s career to this point or recognition for the money they have already poured into a kid who has taken much but given little in return.

How typical of the NRL. The Roosters get a leg up while the Panthers get kicked in the nuts! Viliame Kikau has been suspended for tackle that wouldn’t have knocked the head off a beer. What a joke! Yes, personally I’m relieved that Kikau won’t be playing should the Bunnies continue to weave their magic and continue their white-hot run of form and advance to meet the Panthers if they can get passed the Eels. But what a disgrace! What has the game come to? Meanwhile, JWH gets to take the heads off of players either with or without the ball and all that he gets is a slap on the wrist. Stinks of favouritism and selective justice from the judiciary IMO.

Which QLDers Nat? Ethan Lowe? Useless! Corey Allan? ALlan was useless, but he has come good since taking over from Latrell. He still runs like he is running on a treadmill though. The legs are moving but he doesn’t go anywhere in a hurry. Dane Gagai is a QLDer of course, but he used to only play all his good games when he was wearing a maroon jersey. Like Allan, he also has come good in the last few weeks but he has been a disappointment for most of the year and defensively is still a huge liability. Are there any other QLDers I missed Nat? 😉

Let’s hope my cameo appearance on the ROAR doesn’t jinx things. For a while there last Sunday I thought the Bunnies vs Bulldogs team had turned up in place of the Roosters Thumping Rabbitohs who handed the Chooks their biggest humiliation since 1908! 60-8 even after the Bunnies had THREE tries disallowed (the first two WERE tries) and Keary escaped the sin-bin for an obvious professional foul. ????
Professional foul… that’s as good a name as any for a Roosters player if you ask me. ????
