NRL-loving All Blacks star unlikely to jump ship
BY JAMIE PANDARAM Last updated 08:59 07/04/2010

Dan Carter has revealed he would love to play rugby league. But while the prospect of playing in the NRL appeals to Carter, he is resigned to being a one-code man.

Most NRL clubs would jump at the opportunity to sign the record-breaking New Zealand rugby union points scorer, but Carter has written off his own chances.

”I would love to play in the NRL, I love watching it, but I’ve never played the game,” Carter told The Sydney Morning Herald.

”By the time I get into a situation where I’m reassessing my future I’ll just be one of the old boys running around.”

New Zealand will still win the Four Nations

Well done Emric. I think the IRB had underestimate the support for teams like Samoa, Tongan with a large fans based in Auckland and throughout NZ and home nations who normally have a large travelling fans. The games between Samoa and South Africa, Tonga against France would have soldout at eden park and even the Tongans pools games if it was held at Mt Smart Stadium. England, Wales and Ireland would have also had bigger crowds at their games if played in one of the three major cities.

Tonga upset France in Rugby World Cup

Looks like Chris Rattue has met his match and it comes from an English rugby writer.

NZ rugby community 100 percent behind the Warriors

Are you saying theres not enough rugby players in Australia, NZ and around the world to have decent teams in Gold Coast, West Sydney and so on? Without all the Kiwis rugby union and rugby league players I dont think the NRL will be able to survive you just have to look at the 50% of all the under 20s in NRL who were poach from NZ rugby schools.
I see South Africa struggle year in and year out with five super teams but they have more rugby players than rugby league players in Australia, England and NZ combined. Goodluck on the 4million increase on your caps but if $2 million dollar a season doesnt lure Dan Carter, Maa Nonu, Quade Cooper, SBW, Richie McCaw, James O’Connor, Will Genia and others to France and Japan then your money wont. I know the NRL hasnt rush expansion lucky for the STORMS they get bail out by news limited and TITANS seem in trouble again asking for a loan earlier this year. We dont want what happen to the Superleague expansion to happen to in NRL.
Sponsors also like to be involve with teams playing outside of Australia that will showcase their brands to the world. Rugby isnt going after the NRL or AFL because its an international game like soccer but smaller.

NZ rugby community 100 percent behind the Warriors

Im sure the All Blacks will win the pay tv ratings between the two games as well.

NZ rugby community 100 percent behind the Warriors

Not unless you sign rugby union kids from nz schools and make them play for australia.

NZ rugby community 100 percent behind the Warriors

participation are up in nz rugby this year over 146,000 and half of the nz watched the all blacks game against Tonga.

NZ rugby community 100 percent behind the Warriors

Emric, I think the USA ratings were delay coverage at 1pm in the afternoon but the its not so bad consider it was up against the opening games of the NFL season.

NZ rugby community 100 percent behind the Warriors

They are shown on prime.

NZ rugby community 100 percent behind the Warriors

The Warriors ratings will be ok but its outside of Auckland and South Island where it will hurt the most. Im expecting 350,000 on Sky and 100,00 on Prime.

NZ rugby community 100 percent behind the Warriors

Are the NRL also going to give out free tickets for fans in NZ to attend this games or maybe paid for it so the new clubs can stay afloat? There is alot a bigger market in Australia and NZ for another couple of super teams based cities like Gold Coast, West Sydney, New Plymouth, Hawkes Bay, Newcastle and so on.

Great work Emric.

NZ rugby community 100 percent behind the Warriors

Well done Spiro great to wake up and read something like this. Your right that theres no code war in NZ and that the rugby union journalist have stop bagging rugby league but there is still a couple of rugby league reporters in NZ (Rattue, Peter Jessup, Graham Lowe, Deans n others) that still go on about rugby union and have a chip on their shoulder to this day. I have read many times in the last two weeks from current and former All Blacks, Gramham Henry and rugby union personalities have all congratulated the warriors on their win and all wish them luck in their their final. I have not once read anything from Ivan Cleary and any of the Warriors managements, players or adminstrations wishing the same for the All Blacks on their quest for the Webb Ellis trophy. Anyway all the best to the Warriors and the All Blacks. Cheers Spiro keep it up!

NZ rugby community 100 percent behind the Warriors

I know enough to have played both codes and also a life member in one of the rugby union clubs in Auckland. Rugby is still a religion in NZ its just that unlike the 50’s and 60’s fans are watching every game and news bulletin on TV or internet and not lining up outside stadiums and docks to welcome the All Blacks from a sucessful tour of South Africa, Europe or running to local shop to buy a paper.

NZRU invites rugby league to takeover

As suspected the rugby world cup games were always going to rate better than any nz warriors finals match or grand finals in NZ and thats why the rugby world cup draw was made. Lucky the Warriors made the final other wise if it was between two aussie teams your be lucky to get more 10,000 people watching it on Sky sports. Your AFL final will be lucky to be shown in NZ oikee but if it does it might give the Warriors under 20 side a good run for its money on pay tv.

NZRU invites rugby league to takeover

oikee your right, rugby league has hit a new level. The NRL and Australian rugby league have just found out what we kiwis knew all along that the best talents in both codes comes from rugby union schools in NZ and the Warriors are riding on this.

NZRU invites rugby league to takeover

I was talking about the hype and all the rugby league media in Sydney going ape about the warriors beating the all blacks and rugby world cup while sitting in their office in Sydney.

NZRU invites rugby league to takeover

Give it a rest trakl. The school rugby union comp is on saturday as do rugby league comps from under 15s to under 21. Most rugby schools in the South Islands and parts of the North Islands dont even have rugby league at any level.

Hardluck about the grandfinal against Wellington College this year Emric. Stu?

League cant survive in the modern world, the superstars rolling through the Rugby World Cup in NZ are getting well known around the world. Look at this years world cup, kids all over NZ and Pacific are now dreaming of been the next Ma’a Nonu, SBW, Quade Cooper, Alesana Tuilagi, Paul Williams, Dan Carter, Manu Tuilagi, Napolioni Nalaga, George Stowers, Maurie Faasavalu and many more, superstars, Players up in lights, all will become household names around the world, Benji Marshal is bigger in Australia but an all-black like Dan Carter is bigger than the whole game of rugby league world-wide. Australia a country of 23 soon to be 30 million people where league is only popular in NSW and queensland. Kiwis and Islanders are leading the charge where rugby union is the national passion and religion in their country.
If you think league has done any damage so far, imagine when they dont get the 1 billion plus deal there will riots in Lakemba and Woodridge.
The NRL already has in place what they need, a under 20 comp full of kiwi kids who love their weet-bix while Australian rugby league juniors will be flowing through the waters of Tasmania looking to play another sport.

Not trying to knock league, but like i said, their greatest threat in NSW and Queensland and the Torrie Straight Islands will be AFL, they will just pump 100 million into these areas over the next 5 years.
Rugby union has already established itself with Islanders and Kiwis and wait for the Olympics to come and take to another level.
That is why i will be cheering for a Warriors because win or lose they will be forgotten come next weeks rugby world cup finals.
They have now come of age. To think only a few years ago the highes ratings football in Australian tv history is still the 2003 rugby world cup final.
It is unthinkable of Kiwis cheering on a Aussie team, but Robbie Deans loyalists have managed to perform this task. And you wonder why people hate Quade Cooper.

Which school was that Emric?

NZRU invites rugby league to takeover

There is no war when it comes to both codes in NZ. Rugby is religion there so theres no competition.

NZRU invites rugby league to takeover

Theres a few rugby clubs in Northern England in the premiership and championship hutch unlike league.

Why Warriors' success is good for rugby

When the Phoenix a-league finals showing and all whites made the world cup we had talk of football taking over rugby anbd now its the same for the rugby league. We will get this all the time and then it will die out just like it had always been.
