‘while millions of Australians who simply choose not to support or become engaged with the A-League competitions will step into focus and inform us all of their superior knowledge of the game and its players’

or does the A-league not engage with them?
– A league structure no path way for local clubs to be promoted into it, thus no way to engage with large areas in Australia bar the Australia cup
– AL/FFA went to war with active support a few years ago
– AL completely cut ties with the old NSL clubs many of which still ‘get more support’ then a number of AL team, dont tell me South Melbourne wouldnt have more support he WU.
– AL has also been notoriously ‘expensive’ to follow this is the 1st season 2 games are on FTA [channel 10] for 15 years the AL was on foxsports which required around $80 a month to watch it in HD there was almost no FTA coverage in this period the FFA made the league almost impossible to follow.
– AL refused to have a ‘normal’ season and break for FIFA sanctioned dates

i have followed Melbourne Victory since the early days of the league my parents were not rich i never had foxtel we often went to the local pub to watch Victory games or attended matches. But it was ‘hard’ to follow the league – as a adult money is no where near as tight for me as it was my parents i got no issue watching, going and taking my own children to football. But it needs to be noted not everyone had the ability to engage with the AL and the FA/FFA are largely to blame for it not ‘euro-snobs’

The World Cup is almost here: Welcome to Eurosnob season

When Euro teams come here ticket price are not low….literally paid almost 200 to watch United play Perth a few years ago

Football has lost its soul in Australia and only the fans can save it now

Never should of made western united a club should of given the licence to South Melbourne.

But let’s call a spade a spade I like football and do support MV but in every way it is inferior to the NSL.
You got plastic clubs
No P/R thus no stakes for rubbish teams
A rubbish Salary cap and floor
Rubbish rules around squad strength
No local engagement
No grass roots
The NYL is rubbish
A crap finals series
Little to no real passion bcuz there tribalism and rivalry isn’t there like in the NSL

What did the FA/FFA expect?

Football has lost its soul in Australia and only the fans can save it now
