When Scott came out with those remarks, my immediate thought was “Well f-off then. Bye Felicia!” It reminded me of statements players/agents make around the time of renegotiating contracts – implying they are thinking of a code swap to boost their contracts and to put pressure on the organization to do what they can to keep them, when in fact, the player is going nowhere. I thought the timing of the statement made it look like an attempt to force NZR’s hand and came across as calculated and peurile. If that is truly what Scott wants to do, don’t make a big deal of it, just go mate. The same way people like Schmidt, Wayne Smith, Jamie Joseph and DR have done. No guarantees when you come back though.
