By 2022, the top refs will be earning over $300K per year. Can you tell me which job our there where people get paid over $300k and make mistakes on a weekly basis?
We have to be honest about refs
No other sport in the world whether it be AFL, NFL, EPL, NHL has the referree taken so much spotlight away from the game and the players, whether negative or positive, agree or disagreed. It goes to show how much of a disconnect between the referees and the players, coaches, past players and journalist alike. For every person defending the ref, there is another critisizing them. For a Expert journalist like yourself to dedicate your time to write a piece on this goes to show that there is a problem in the game. It is simple, the referees should not be discussed this much on weekly basis. I could not ever recall in the past articles every directed at referee or standard of refereeing during the time of Billy Harrigan, Greg McCallum, Mick Stone, Tony Archer, David Manson ever getting this much attention. Andrew Johns comment is out of fustration. He is fustrated just like I am fustrated that people like me pay a fortune every year to Foxtel to see someone like Gerard Sutton have more airtime than the player with more hit ups, tackles, meters in a game?
