My take is that AAA is just trying to keep his future employment opportunities open by “buttering-up” one Mr. Jones & any influence he may have in Japanese Club Rugby… 😛

'I noticed it': Why Eddie could still play a part in Aussie rugby's turnaround - and the 'hard conversations' driving Brumbies

Hey Dusty, what “screw-ups” do you mean?

No offence, I think you’re reaching for something that just not there…

Will do 👍

I was gonna answer your reply Dusty, but Dan James beat me to it…look forward to seeing your reply & your “facts”… 😊

Hey Miz, I’m constantly astounded at the hubris when describing Skelton’s contributions.

Again, he’s a fine domestic player, but is simply too big, too slow & lacks continued impact in internationals.

I don’t need to read so-called “expert” opinions talking him up. Specially as they usually only highlight one significant game where he actually had a small impact.

I’ve played for forty years non-stop this year. Coached for 32 & been a qualified ref for 30.

Played with & against many of the greatest AB’s & mentored & coached by many others…

I’m comfortable with my assessment of Skelton & you’re more than welcome to yours.

He hasn’t lived up to the hype for mine…but, I do wish him well & wish he would.

That’s cool James, you’re welcome to your valuation of him.

“Sensational” just seems a bit too sensationalist a description of Skelton for me.

Super Rugby teams: Reds name young gun for Tahs clash in front of Schmidt, Test halves to start against Wallaby-laden Brumbies

Wow, that’s relevant…so he had one good game 10 years ago…again, not at international level.

Did you even read my comment?

It’s time NZR took over all five Oz Super Rugby teams.

But RA do have money. $8 million profit (with no thanks given to NZR) & an $80 million loan…

Fair comment Sheikh, but when does personal responsibility come in to it.
For too long many of the senior Wallabies are entitled & are happy to throw multiple coaches under the bus.
Skelton to me is one such player.
I believe it’s the same reason many Oz players can head overseas & are suddenly better players. Away from Oz, the have to prove their worth in order to maintain their career.
Skelton’s been continually poor, except in overseas clubs…maybe he actually realised he can’t just dial it in over there as he did here.

Big difference between Club Level & Internationals…I don’t think Skelton’s ever cemented himself as an International.

Justify it however you want Bliksem, but Rassie’s video was definitely the “straw-that-broke-the-camels-back”.

I’m not blaming or absolving anyone, that’s just a “straw-man” again on your part to attempt to lessen Rassie’s impact.

Do you think those you’ve mentioned would have felt so “courageous” (I use that term in jest) if not for HIS video…

And still, none of them made a video slandering, defaming a referee.

Nor did they directly influence the interpretation of the next referee or indeed the outcome of a series illegally.

Dress it up, put lipstick on it…it’s still a swine…

I’ve been blocked twice for challenging the powers that be, so does happen (called out blatant racism & got blocked). Yup, it’s petty…

Definitely can’t wait for the rugby! 👍

Bliksem, I understand & respect your unwavering support for Rassie.

But, you’re seriously underestimating (maybe obtusely) the impact & detriment his video had.

Here in Australia, the amount of abuse I copped after refereeing for near 30 years (at the time) increased significantly after Rassie’s video. So much so that I not only hung up the whistle, but had to delete my social media accounts (which had never been an issue before).

Just because you were not or have not seen it, doesn’t make the increase in abuse any less significant.

Agreed JN, it’s a shame for Rassie…his record is just about second to none. Maybe equal best with Shag & the Professor?!

Definitely didn’t help the situation though did it?!

Rugby News: 'Good to have someone with that success' - Wallabies welcome Schmidt, SA referee calls time

In regard to your first paragraph, I think the majority of the blame still lies with your mate Rassie.

His video definitely empowered trolls everywhere…& added an air of insecurity to the top echelon of referees.

World Rugby are complicit though, the slap-on-the-wrist Rassie received certainly didn’t/hasn’t deterred people since…

What many people in Oz who have issues with “Kiwis” forget Harry, is that a large proportion have historical ties to Australia anyway.
