I partly agree with you except I don’ t believe Petaia had any control of the ball before the tackle. He looked like he was chasing a feather in a cyclone. I thought the penalty try rule applies when there is no doubt a player would score except for the illegal play. Happy for anyone to enlighten me.

'Tough call': Reds too good for Tahs in cracking Aussie derby, as controversial penalty try, yellow to Jorgo proves telling

Fair and good analysis of the Swans this year. I’ve also noticed a drop in ball skills especially below the knees. It looks like they’re spending the ball before they have it resulting in too many turnovers. I do have another rule related question from yesterday which I hope someone can clear up for me. Blakey was pinged for high contact after taking a mark. It was accidental I believe but the umps are very hard on anything high. I get that. What had me confused though was the Freo player was hanging on to him for what I thought was too long and the free should have gone to Blakey. Has that rule been dumped? It was a hot thing not long ago in an attempt to stop players slowing the game. Confused.

Selectors should be in firing line if Warner gamble costs Australia the world Test trophy and Ashes urn

Selectors letting Warner down by not dropping him - 'really struggling, feet not moving', Handscomb settles in: Talking Points

Warner turned blind and left his batting mate stranded. Completely umacceptable at test level but Warner is a selfish player.

So ironic from the man who spent 30mins handing out yellow cards and watching video reruns while everyone died of boredom.

Learn the box kick for a start and use it like the ABs do to counter rush up defence.

I think club rugby is better than what we got last night.

Mo'unga magic leads All Blacks past woeful Wallabies in record blowout

I agree with some of your points but I can’t stop at the fact we are playing the wrong tactics or not enough of the right ones. The All Blacks were beaten at the world cup largely by the rush up defence with outside back pincer movement driving players back into the forwards and heavy defence. What has been their response? The box kick.

We’ve probably seen at least 20 box kicks from NZ over the three tests to date. They are effective. They create one on one contests, turn our pack around over and over again and often result in turnovers snd mistakes. The Wallabies still prefer to throw one out passes to whoever is unlucky enough to be next in line for a smashing. Over and over again. Its easy pickings for rush up defence. One of the best weapons against very good sporting teams of any kind is doubt. Create doubt in themselves and you have some chance. We saw it in the first test with the high ball in windy conditions. Yes even the All Blacks drop them. We didnt use it enough then. And we’re not using the box kick enougg either to create doubt and break the rush up defence. Just my humble opinion.

Groundhog day for the Wallabies: Four talking points from Bledisloe 3

Very gracious and honest from Tim and I can understand the wrong call in the heat of the moment too. I wonder how many armchair critics would have made the same call under that pressure?

I’m a little less inclined to excuse the umpire’s LBW call though. I would love to hear his reasoning behind why he believed it was going to miss the stumps? I don’t think anyone else watching that delivery had the same thought. The ball just looked like hitting middle and leg somewhere up the length of the stumps yet the umpire shook his head so vigorously you could only wonder whether he was adjudicating an LBW appeal on a wide delivery?? He was so emphatic on an absolutely plumb LBW ball. Why?

Totally agree with you Noah re Warner. He is a massive liability and in my humble opinion should not have been selected at all. Steve Waugh, whom I respect enormously has come to his defence but I can’t support him. Warner is way out of form unlike Bancroft who has at least shown signs of form and at least a determination to not let his wicket go without a fight. I would love to have heard the conversations between Siddle and Warner after yesterday’s dropped catches. Warner must go.

Australia must drop David Warner

Warner has failed with the bat and with his hands. Can the selector who has something to hide that only Warner knows about please resign so someone with guts can drop this guy?
