Do you mean the All Blacks, with players born in NZ and of Fijian, Tongan and Samoan heritage?
This idea that NZ poaches Islanders is so fkn old, boring and incorrect.

Should Rugby Australia be compensated for Mack Hansen's Ireland call-up?

Great article.

Can’t see a second NZ team ever being financially stable nor competitive – the Warriors have had 25 years and have achieved only one of those objectives.

Cowboys, Broncos, Titans, Brisbane Jets (west of Brisbane) and South Queensland Dolphins (Moreton Bay – Fraser Coast) for mine.

An alternate and simple pathway to 18 teams that will work

Ah yes, of course: if someone else does the wrong thing, then you’re justified in doing it too!

Funnily enough, David Clark has lost his associate finance minister portfolio because of this, and will likely lose his health portfolio once the pandemic ends (the PM stated that she would’ve sacked him under normal circumstances).

So the goose is in the oven, and almost cooked.

Crusaders sorry for NZ lockdown breach

Perhaps we all ought to stop and follow Bobby’s advice: “It’s all a bit OTT everyone, stand down. Let’s just see how this pandemic, for which we don’t have a vaccine, plays out.”

👎

Crusaders sorry for NZ lockdown breach

You’ve got to question the intelligence of these guys; it’s impossible to not know what’s expected during the Level 4 restrictions in NZ. Either they’ve decided that they’re exempt, or they just have an absolute void between their ears – and some of them are parents/parents-to-be???

Crusaders sorry for NZ lockdown breach

Perhaps you don’t understand NZ’s Level 4 lockdown restrictions?

Interesting read mate.

The thing I MUST call out, because I do it ALL the time, is this about Beauden Barrett: ‘his flyhalf game may lack in certain aspects such as goal-kicking’…

The assertion that fly-halves must also be goal-kickers annoys the s**t out of me! Since when have only 10s been allowed to kick goals?

How do each of the world's best flyhalves play?

I’m curious as to where in Australia the author’s based.

To list ‘Canberra’ as a *possible* participant in this proposed competition is odd; the Brumbies are the most successful Australian Super team, and therefore an ACT and Southern NSW representation would be a given, if not a necessity!

TBH, as others have mentioned, this competition wouldn’t prepare players to an appropriate level for international matches – the Wallabies would be absolutely destroyed by most Tier 1 nations.

The rugby calendar of the future

Yep, nothing like a bit of the ol’ CTE to sort the men from the boys.

Seriously, the media needs to stop interviewing or seeking comment from these irrelevant dinosaurs who have failed to change with the times.

Eels legend calls for NRL to scrap ‘no punch’ rule

Loyalty, in professional sport? Get a grip Wally. 1950 was a loooooong time ago.

"It's a farce": The King demands loyalty in NRL

You what mate? That was almost 20 years ago – it’s time to let it go 😂

Jason Holland has played and coached in both hemispheres, and has been in the Hurricanes environment for almost 4 years – I think he’ll go well.

Hurricanes reveal new head coach following Plumtree's All Black promotion

NZR has demonstrated a lack of vision in the 12 months since Hansen announced he was stepping down.

When Hansen announced his intentions, NZR ought to have set about appointing a successor within 3 months; this would have created a far stronger pool of candidates – including the likes of Jamie Joseph, Warren Gatland, and Dave Rennie. Instead, they dithered, and we ended up with two candidates who have only domestic experience. Equally disastrous is that whichever of the two got the nod, a Super Rugby team was assured to lose a head coach, possibly before the season starts.

If we (Hurricanes) lose John Plumtree before the season starts, I’m going to be furious (and I’ll shout at the clouds about it)!

My interest and support for the All Blacks are slowly being eroded because of NZR’s insular and dictatorial attitude, and their lack of respect for levels below.

The All Blacks coaching job is not the shiny jewel it once was; are overseas Kiwi coaches saying no because they too have had enough of NZR’s attitude and actions?

Ian Foster pips Scott Robertson to be named new All Blacks coach

I wouldn’t be so sure that Whitelock and Retallick will unseat Barrett (if he plays at lock). They’ve both played A LOT of footy at an exceptionally high standard, and it’s no certainty that they’ll come back from their sabbaticals with the same intensity (or desire) as they had when they left. None of us (Richie McCaw 2015 excluded) can escape Father Time.
In saying all this, I’d be converting Scott Barrett to a full-time blindside role. He has the physicality, athleticism and ball-handling skills to play at 6; a physical 6 is something we’ve missed for a while now. I’d love to see Luke Jacobson kick on at 6 as he looks to be a long-term All Black (and captain), but I have serious doubts about whether he’ll actually have a career in rugby considering his concussion issues at such an early stage – I say that with empathy and concern.

Why Scott Barrett should captain the All Blacks

Gee, Walker-Leawere is only 22. I think you ought to reset your expectations for the lad! He’s also a big unit himself – heavier than Parkinson, but slightly shorter.

It’s a bit silly to state that Strange isn’t Super Rugby class – he’s been stuck behind some great locks in the Crusaders and hasn’t had much of a shot yet.

As for any of them holding a boot to Brodie: sure they don’t right now, and I didn’t say they do – I’m talking about 2023.
