No scrum, no win

Wallabies in danger of losing Hanigan to ambitious French club just as forward enters his prime

Tahs scrum should hold up ok with the starting front row and Amatosero.
Really surprised Larkham didn’t bench Lolesio for Debreczeni. Bigger body, excellent kicking game and can defend with more starch.

Can the money saved by Petaia heading overseas be diverted into turning Isaac Henry into some kind of a quasi-Robocop that is injury free?

'It's disappointing': Petaia's Super season over - and it could end his Reds career

Just add it to the tab with Russell Crowe and Keith Urban 😂

'Hugely important': Wallaroos hail Rugby Australia's huge step forward after multi-million dollar deal

The Brumbies have some large humans like Frost and Hooper, however, they don’t seem to dominate physically. Maybe they looked better under Fisher as opposed to Mowen.

Five things: What Beale has over other golden oldies, double pain for Brumbies as Blues expose Australia's biggest weakness

Tupou only has 20-30 mins in the tank before looking smoked. Talakai doesn’t impress because he doesn’t do anything flashy besides nail the core duties of a tighthead. Pollard is a while off but outside of Vailanu there isn’t much at bench hooker other than the possible return of BPA. Porecki and Uelese aren’t up to it.

Five things: What Beale has over other golden oldies, double pain for Brumbies as Blues expose Australia's biggest weakness

Same goes for Tadgh Beirne, although you’d need someone large at 5 when you’re playing against the French ‘homegrown’ talent of Meafou or Willemse.

Five things: What Beale has over other golden oldies, double pain for Brumbies as Blues expose Australia's biggest weakness

The starting front row for the Wallabies should be Gibbon and Talakai as the Rebels scrum shows the most consistency. They can hold the scrum up and have work rate around the park. Hooker wise it is likely Faessler, and in the absence of Vailanu I’d be happy to see Pollard at 16 in between Slipper and AAA. I’d also like to see Heaven develop.

Faessler and Heaven are pretty good at throwing, so the knowledge is out there how to throw!

CONFIRMED: Wallabies land final piece of coaching puzzle as ex-Lion signs on ahead of showpiece event

I rate Parling. The Rebels lineout looked pretty solid a few years ago with Matt Phillip at lock.

‘Basically the Antichrist’ was perfect. Great read!

Enough of realistic expectations, let's get excited about future Wallabies

Do we really need a KC on the chair of the judiciary? I mean this stuff is not rocket science or the trial of the century.

'Not ideal': Reds star duo cop Super Rugby bans after red cards - but where's the consistency?

True. We don’t get regular zoom ins to Lancaster’s dad.

'Kid wonder': Lancaster, Gordon shine as Rebels take one giant step in locking in maiden Super Rugby finals berth

Logic – stuck behind Mo’unga for a few years. Mo’unga leaves. Burke gets a shot, leaves anyway.

Why Rebel walked out on Australian rugby - but isn't giving up on Wallabies just yet

He’s 28, a decade younger and he’d be Jorgo and we’ve already thrown money at him.

Rooster must remodel: Angus Crichton says he'd want to 'dominate' in rugby union - this is what he'd have to change

Slot him in at 12 and see how he goes. Gainline carries are important as we saw with the brief glimmer of hope which was Isaac Henry. I’d be keen to see him back at Rugby.

I tried watching Warringah V Southern Districts on Sunday but had to turn it off because of the ‘illegal tackles’ with the new laws being trialled. Insane amount of penalties. Uni v Norths was good, but if it’s constantly going to turn out like that Rats game then they’re literally killing the game.

Rugby is losing the long-term battle: What World Rugby must learn from Australia before it's too late

I don’t know where he’d really play? If it’s at 10 and they want someone experienced it’d have to be Quade or even the Iceman. However, our young 10s are progressing nicely as are options at 15 with Kellaway and Wright. I don’t know if he’d mentor Jorgensen because Beale hasn’t ever been the clear favourite in a particular position. It’s not like Chris Latham who was the best 15 for a long time imparting all his knowledge about being a fullback to Jorgensen. Anyway, see how it turns out but more likely to see Lolesio and Debreczeni/Gordon at 10.

Rugby News: Beale 'laser focused' on Wallabies return, coach fury at ban for 'malicious' headbutt

The Toole was easily able to handle Marky Mark last week, who looks out of sorts.
I think the amount of NZ props getting around for Australian Super Rugby teams is an indictment on Aus’ development pathways. Even Thompson-Stringer is British.

Super Rugby teams round 8: Tahs drop Marky Mark, Kellaway returns for Rebels, HMP replaces Lynagh

To some of your points about board responsibility:
1. I’d rather the Wallabies not have any association with Qantas and likes of Alan Joyce. Their loss of sponsorship is no big loss.
2. Regarding AFL and soccer at GPS schools – I don’t think RA is responsible for overseeing that. It’s probably more reflective of a demographic shift in Sydney. Sydney has largely become more international and the cashed up foreigners want to send their children to GPS schools for ‘prestige’ and suburbs have changed as a result. Schools will likely have to offset their rugby teams with vast amounts of scholarships to avoid becoming a Sydney High or Sydney Grammar chess club. Newington has always been quite diverse and includes a significant proportion of Greeks and Italians, but also offers lots of scholarships to Pacific Islanders. Joeys, Kings and Scots are generally very good but the quality of GPS rugby as a whole has nosedived when it’s only those three teams plus View and Shore competing. So if you’re a gun rower at Shore, why spend the winter getting yourself beaten up on what is not a level playing field when you can keep up the athleticism and try AFL? The Waratahs lost the Sydney market long ago to the Swans, the GPS is just catching up and to some of the students at certain schools, they couldn’t give a flying f about sports and traditions. The only place you’ll see the GPS rah rah crowd in Sydney is at Shute Shield or the SCG.

COMMENT: Australian rugby is a depressing picture - the RA board must be axed and the constitution changed

It would be an absolute bloodbath against the European powerhouse clubs like La Rochelle and Leinster.

'I'm a big fan': Kiss throws weight behind Club World Cup as Europe and Super Rugby agree to new tournament

Leota has never exceeded at test level. Second coming of Scott Fardy he certainly is not.

Five things we learned: One area Gordon must fix to convince Wallabies boss, ABs bruiser should be on notice

Gordon’s peak could be immense with goal kicking. Maybe he could see if Mehrts is free the way Foley did and get some goal kicking lessons. The upside there is that we’d have our own Finn Russell.

Five things we learned: One area Gordon must fix to convince Wallabies boss, ABs bruiser should be on notice

Would be keen for Schmidt to go for a Euro style back row with Hooper, Bobby V and Cale with McReight off the bench for some extra speed the way Reimer has been coming on. Maybe swap Hooper with Liam Wright but that’s a really solid lineout and backrow that’s not too dissimilar to Les Bleus with Jelonch, Alldritt and Ollivon. Allows Skelton to play at 5 and he was an absolute menace against Saracens. Swain/Jed or Frost at 4/19, although lately I feel like Swain has matured a fair bit more which I like.
