Must have been a very close call between him and Harris. I don’t see Harris as a decent test opener. Man I hope he proves me wrong in this test though.

I agree with you here Ronan. Tough on Harris but desperate times etc…. His first ball dismissal to Leach was pathetic. The biggest failures this series have been 1-3. They’ve given us nothing. I still have Warner as a flat track bully not unlike Roy for England, but he has to stay as there are no better options. From the 8 batsmen we’ve used this series only Smith and Marnus have stood up consistently. Bowling to remain unchanged if all 4 are 100% fit.

I guess there are all kinds of issues that come up after this amazing game. At the end of it all the big thing is we had multiple chances but sadly choked. May as well had Greg Norman out there. Stokes was incredible, he handled the pressure. Paine and co certainly did not.

Yes Root really looks out of sorts in this series. That said I reckon we have really bowled well to him.
He is a class act and no doubt will come back. The poms have no other option for captain.
I am more concerned about our ‘top 3’ in particular Warner. I never have rated him on tricky wickets or against really good attacks. Cancel his passport and leave him for our flat tracks at home.

The last thing we need is to gift England 50 easy runs off the first 10 overs. Leave Starc out and this is pretty unlikely to happen.

I’d be happy if Starc plays no part in the ashes series. A 100% fit Hazelwood should get a look in for sure. We cannot afford to give away 5-6 runs an over with all the ‘4 balls’ he bowls. Keep things tight like the last test and the poms will fold. At this stage I’d leave batting as is. Openers are a real worry but not many alternatives now that Joe Burns has been sent home.
