There’s only one more game for the All Blacks before the WC and our first opponent is one that demolished the Springboks at home.

The luxury of experimenting for Shag and co. is over, which is evident in the consistency of selection from last week to this. They only could afford one “real” change, in Vito. Perhaps if the Puma’s didn’t look so good he might have experimented more but they really need to be gelling in this upcoming game with the NEXT game being against the Argies on neutral ground at the RWC (likely to determine the pool). He will test/rest some combinations for the minnow games and likely go back to 90% A team against Tonga.

Therefore, I think people are reading too much (or perhaps not enough) into the selection for this weekend – thinking that it’s a reaction to the loss last weekend. Shag (I would say 99%) is planning for the RWC with this selection.

So good on Cheika for having the balls to experiment but for the All Blacks this is likely to be the team that Shag is hoping will bring home the bacon when the Big Show begins next month.

Wallabies team to play All Blacks for Bledisloe 2: Cooper to start

If the All Blacks win the RWC, back-to-back (a first) and for a 3rd time (a first) and winning next to everything in between (2011-15) (pretty much unheard of for a WC winning squad), would that make them one of the greatest sporting teams in history? That question, of course, is always up for debate.

If they accomplish this, it may or may not make them the greatest in all sports, but, we’ll all certainly be witnessing greatness unparalleled in Rugby. That, to me, is something worth savoring, whether you’re a All Blacks supporter or not.
