I am a passionate fan of Brisbane Roar but also very actively involved with the Queensland Football History Project and would welcome any inquiries about that project.

Quite frankly how can you possibly justify a staff level of 80, with a competition comprising 12 men’s and 10 women’s teams? Too quick to soon? I feel extremely sorry and concern for those who drew the short straw. However, in spite of likely management failures, we must ensure the survival of the A-League. IT MUST LIVE ON to provide football of international standard.

A-Leagues confirm brutal staff purge as game's bold $40m vision goes up in smoke

Based on statistics on the Ultimate A-League site, the average attendance figure is 11,958, the lowest being 1,035 against Adelaide at CBus stadium 0n 19.07.2020 and the highest was 51,153 against WSW at Suncorp on 04.05.15. The lowest annual average was 4,538 in 2021 – 22 and the highest was 18,556 in 2007 – 08. During 2022 – 23 the figure was 5,629. Only during 6 out of 18 seasons, Roar attendances were sub-10,000 and I believe that a 15,000 capacity complex would be ideal and realistic. Use Suncorp for the real big games. Anywhere in the Brisbane western region near the main arterials like Logan Motorway, Gateway, M1, Centenary highway and a railway stadium would work in my humble opinion and reasonable central for most parts of the greater Brisbane area. As a bonus, Transurban could become a major sponsor. Just a thought.

'Nothing short of a disgrace': Lack of football-specific venues is holding the A-Leagues back

You need more than one tenant for a facility like that to be anywhere near viable.

Football was played in that precinct in the very early days.

A lot of people scratching their heads now and speculating. Do we finally have the missing piece of the puzzle? Let’s wait and see and good things come to those who wait.

Brisbane Roar, going from strength to strength. Opposition teams beware the Roaring Lion this season and beyond.

A full season of league, union, WWC and other events. I also believe that there usually is a change of turf, to cater for the hot summer season.

Waz, scores to date disprove your comments.

If the A-Leagues backflip on the grand final, it is a win for fans - and for common sense

Waz, I am surprised by your recent posts. A total reversal in my view on previous years. You appeared to be very close to previous managements because you often had published information that nobody else had. Why the surprising change in attitude? I strongly support Lionheart’s comments and the club is improving in leaps and bounds and the new management and administration team are doing a great job and as far as the playing and coaching group is concerned, results to date speak for themselves. Isn’t the australian way to give people a fair go to prove themselves, based on facts instead of assumptions? GO ROAR!!!!!!!!

Lionheart, there is a huge transformation happening at Brisbane Roar. We are the first cab of the rank with our Supporters Advisory Council. Kaz and Zac and their admin. team are making a huge impact with great improvements as a reward and the coaching team and playing staff are united, committed and clearly getting results. Predominantly positive social media posts are another important indicator and in my opinion the vibes around the club are the best since the heady AP era. We haven’t reached our best yet and there will be speed bumps along the way, but we are ready and able to weather those. One of the final pieces in the puzzle is that memberships and crowd attendances need to return to what they used to be. GO ROAR!!!

The progress the club and squad are making is very encouraging. And there are plenty of positive indicators to suggest that the Roar is definitely on the right track.
Being a Foundation member, I have experienced the highs and the lows throughout the years and I can definitely sense a very encouraging and positive turn around.
The comments made by Phil Moss during the broadcast of the Australia Cup Game about the positive vibes in our dressing room, compared to previous seasons, are very encouraging.
The reaction from supporters (committed and intending), with nothing but smiles and positive comments after the game with Western United were another sign that the future is likely to be a bright one.
The establishment of the Supporters Advisory Council is another great move and after only one meeting, the Management team has already acted upon a number of suggestions eminating from that meeting.
The start of a second generation inclusion of Zane North and Rylan Brownlee is exciting particularly since the club is still relatively young.
The emergence of undoubted talents like Quinn MacNicol and Thomas Waddingham bodes well for the future and we hope that theirs will be a longtime, enjoyable and rewarding association with the Roar.
And let’s not forget the remainder of the squad, comprising many local youngsters who have started to well and truly establish themselves at A-league level.
Women’s football has also firmly established itself, following the huge impact, courtesy the Matildas and their outstanding performances in the recent WWC. Supporters numbers have exploded and it looks like our Liberty team has been well selected and will be a force to be reckoned with.
The return to Suncorp has hit the right note as well.
Our management team led by Kaz Patafta and Zac Anderson is switched on and responsive and the vibes in the office are second to none. Everybody is committed and motivated.
The Brand building project sees the return to the club of Chad Gibson our inaugural captain and his wife Cecelia and you are going to see some exciting developments in that department.
Does anyone need more convincing that now is the time to book your season tickets and to fasten your seatbelts to be part of an exciting ride towards success.
GO ROAR!!!!!

Whisper it quietly, but Brisbane Roar should be contenders under Ross Aloisi

Lionheart, You are spot on. And like with the men, the Brisbane football public should put the recent past behind them and support both the ROAR women and men in big numbers. More supporters through the turnstiles = more money in the till = more money to spend on all aspects of the game. GO ROAR!

Australian women calling for real change in football should start it by turning up to A-League matches

Another area we can save money is to revert to part-time referees.
The standard of refereeing has declined in my humble opinion since the FFA appointed fulltime referees and I fail to see what they do all week. They also often are appointed AR’s or the 4th referee.
I’d hate to think what the cost is and I am sure that their travel costs can also be slashed significantly with better planning and using more locals for AR’s and the 4th referee.

Can FFA save a few pennies and overcome a slashed budget?
