Thank you Australia for creating a talent pipeline that is the envy of the world…

37 phases and OUT! Whitelock the hero as All Blacks win epic RWC QF to break Ireland's hearts again

That’s a pretty good team. Coles more accurate so wins the hooker spot and it may also be relevant that Coles will partner up with two young props. Christie a better defender. Leicester in will likely change our game a bit as he’s a different type of winger. He may be exposed if he gets turned around a lot as he doesn’t have the pure acceleration of Telea but he can make a big difference around the rucks.

I’d change only one selection – Blackadder on the bench. Maybe it’s a man-crush; maybe he’s really good.

Let’s go and hunt some Irish!

'Burdens that everyone carries': All Blacks star stood down for World Cup QF, Foster turns up heat on Ireland

Hi Phantom

I think the two are symbiotic. Strong tactical kicking and field position are much appreciated by the forwards and gives them a real boost!

The Wrap: Coaches ride the rollercoaster as Rugby Championship gets turned on its head

Hopefully people can now see the clear difference in tactical field kicking execution between our two playmakers that we from the south have been ranting about….

Hi Blues Fan

I agree with much of what you say here, even thought I’m a Cantabrian… go figure.

I do want to offer a different perspective on that Jordan pass though. It struck me at the time and I went back for another look. It was super early in the game, so easy to do.

Clarke had earlier been holding his width and Jordan passed to where Clarke HAD been positioned, and I would argue should have been, only to find Clarke had drifted a long way in-field.

I suspect the review process won’t be focused on the pass itself…

Cheers

Hi Nick

It seems the final has had more impact on selections, with Cullen Grace (and two others) called into the Maori ABs. We might assume that finals performance had an influence on this for him in particular although the same logic doesn’t explain all three selections. Why the Maori ABs now need three more players than they needed last week in what appears to be simply an expanded squad is, for me, a bizarre development.

Anyone know what is going on? Sadly, my assumption is that the NZRU are again reacting to things rather than being in the driving seat with a clear strategy.

Cheers

How will the Super Rugby Pacific final impact All Blacks selection?

Superb game from the ‘Saders. Bossed the game from the start and kept the Blues out of it largely across the full 80 minutes. For all those doubters, Whitelock reminded us that he’s still got it. A few new boys in Red and Black showed us the future as well. A few embarrassing match-ups from an ABs selection POV.

All in all, a great day to be from Canterbury!
