We are a not for profit organisation dedicated to raising funds via membership for developing Rugby League nations. Members join by donating $10 a month or a one off $120. At the end of the financial year, members vote for which, from those that submit applications, should be awarded the funds raised.

I think what he’s saying is that, with the unequal payments available to players of Australia vs players of Fiji/NZ/PNG will forever mean that players that are eligible for say both countries, will always choose Australia over the other.

For instance, Its arguable that for players that spend almost their entire life in Fiji, New Zealand and only come to Australia to play professional Rugby League would be more eligible to play for the nation of birth, rather than their adopted country, but their adopted country pays better.

I’d prefer if the RLIF standardised payments, especially for the World Cup, but also for those other larger tournaments such as the Four Nations – which is pretty much the only one.

For instance, i’d like to see the Samoan players paid the same as Australian, English and New Zealand players competing in that tournament.

MASCORD: A weak Australia makes for a stronger Four Nations

You sent in an application to join the Fund? If so, that’d be great to have you on board. We’re really hoping to have > $3000 to award this year. Each year we’ve grown bigger and bigger. It’s been a great experience to be part of.

Rugby league grows internationally, but no-one says a word

Thanks Cathar, FYI, we’ve created an account on The ROAR. Looking forward to the odd article being written about the nations we work with 🙂
