He’s also brought in changes to minimize the dangers of concussion with empowering doctors to decide if a player is capable of playing after heavy contact. He has also made mandatory each player understands the effects of mental health with each player meeting with a councilor at the end of every season as well as participating in various health courses which are available if players want to learn more this is pivotal for the players and the game moving forward
Steve Hocking to leave AFL for Cats top job
Great news. The Geelong Football Club will be in great hands with Hock at the helm. A quality bloke who has Geelong in his blood. Go Cats
Steve Hocking to leave AFL for Cats top job
There’s a reason Geelong are always going to beat mediocre sides. The Cats have leaders who have won premierships (Selwood, Hawkins, Duncan), they have a premiership winning coach (Scott) and they have a winning culture (78% winning record since 2007). Essendon have none of the above (Stringer isn’t a leader or an Essendon man, he’ll leave in a heartbeat if a good contract comes his way)
Essendon Round 16 review
Wake up mate, this is professional sport, you can’t afford to lose any games let alone throw a season away. Blooding young players is essential, but look at Carlton they been bottom of the ladder for 20 years, It doesn’t always end in sunshine and rainbows. What it can do is destroy confidence, not only in the players but everyone at the club. You don’t learn a thing when you keep losing games, and players need to earn their spot, feel wothy to be on the field. It’s in no clubs best interest to play young kids who haven’t earn their jumper, what kind of standards do you stand for, other clubs will pick up on that and make life very miserable for you.
Freo must drink from the fountain of youth in the midst of its injury crisis
Smith you’ll never captain again deal with it
Steve Smith hits back at Ian Chappell's claim he's 'white-anting' Tim Paine
Tim Pain is such a great leader and he should be there for a long long time. Smith never deserved to be captain in the first place it should of been Warner or Watson and he never should get the privilege of leading the team again. Once a cheat always a cheat!
Tim Paine must go
Geelong will get a home final and finally win the cup and give legend status to a great captain that is Josh Selwood
Who's set to rise and fall in the AFL next season?
Are you completely ignorant? Try finishing top of the ladder and playing your earned and deserved home final at the opposition’s home ground. When has it been an issue in the past they ask? Well it has since we never lose a game there and that AFL senior figures are all Richmond and Collingwood supporters who put forward a completely unreasonable explanation of crowd numbers are too important instead of giving what Geelong football club deserves and that is home ground advantage. It’s not fair anymore when it’s our fortress and we will miss taking an advantage of that with this great team.
The decade that was: Geelong Cats
Gary Lyon is Old School and the game needs these guys just remind those that you shake hands after the game. Would Tony Lockett respect you if you were on the opposite team with your hand up to give him a high five after he slotted a goal. You’d be the biggest laughing stock the games ever seen. Just ruins the gMe seeing that.
The touching moment between Eddie Betts and Sydney Stack... that Garry Lyon hated
I love you Sam Kerr you are the best! This is your trophy. Go Aussies
The Matildas reminded us why we love the world game
I think Chris Scott is the best coach in the AFL at the moment. Wouldn’t surprise me if he is awarded coach of the year. Richmond are rubbish and will get thrashed every single game for the rest of the year. What a completely over rated football team! Shame on any club who loses to the tigers in the remaining 11 rounds. Cats are going to smash every team they play. We wont lose another game this season. Go cats
Five talking points from AFL Round 12
Tom is owed a bit of discretion after coppin a week last year for placing a hand on the field umpire. The very next weekends games saw the Curnow girls from Carlton do the same thing and not get rubbed out. He should be right and no Rance means your dead. We’ve been hit by injuries last few years and it’s just so satisfying that a raging bull which is Geelong gets to charge at a very weak Tigers side. The MCG cant save you this time mate. Your form is not good too as Friday night showed a very talentless North Melbourne outfit without a senior coach wiped their backside with ya’s. Cats see blood and it smells good.
Is Tom Hawkins in MRO strife for 'doing an Ablett'?
Dale is a premiership player, and his club would expect better judgment from a player of his class. I look at it like this, would the possibility of this even happening, crossed his mind in that premiership season with Collingwood? If put in that same situation would the actions of been the same? No, because he is a representative of a football club who performs at the highest level in front of millions of Australians and their is a standard that is expected from premiership players. You would never see Joel Selwood, Tom Harley or Cameron Ling in the news, unless it’s on the back page for playing great football.
Media assaults on AFL players are over the top
This is garbage! Stats don’t include shepherding, knock to advantage and making a spoil. So I think gathering stats like those which are more relevant to what teams are actually doing is a better analysis than last years ladder
This Geelong team has no comparison to last years either is Richmonds.
Breaking down all the finals possibilities based on last year’s AFL ladder
He wont even be fined. Just deal with it Richmond supporters, he’s going to destroy you next week. There is nothing you can do to stop that from happening!
Is Tom Hawkins in MRO strife for 'doing an Ablett'?
The Cats comfortably win and our defense is the best in the competition. I really hoped it was worth mentioning in your 5 things you noticed that Blitzavs and Stewart totally and completely shut down Sam Reid and Franklin. A lot of teams will get destroyed by these 2. Not the cats though, and Blitz and Stewart look All Australian certainties.
Swans vs Cats: Five things I learned
Brendon Bolton needs to be sacked tonight. It’s not good enough, goodbye see you later. The Carlton Football Club is an absolute disgrace! Get rid of him NOW!
Five talking points from AFL Round 9
Cats are going beautifully atm. Love the team and love how we are back where we belong…. On top of the ladder
What happened in Round 6 of the AFL
It’s over mate. Your side won a premiership and got the most out of the list. Had a great season and performed well. But West Coast can’t win it this year, not a chance. The competition has shown so far that the Eagles are below average and have been thrashed by 3 teams in 6 rounds. It’s over
Have the West Coast Eagles been figured out?
The Cats are the best team by a country mile this season. Geelong are the hardest most disciplined back line in the comp whilst also containing the most potent and dangerous forward line. It’s year of the cat and Selwood, Dangerfield and Ablett all in form are unstoppable with Chris Scott’s, Enright’s and Scarlett’s new strategic plans. The eagles gave Geelong fans no real challenge and the premiership side of last year look like it’s time to rebuild and start again. Go the catters
Have the West Coast Eagles been figured out?
I think Imam Ul Haq is by far the best opening batsman in the world atm, he looks world class and makes Pakistan an exciting team for once. Aamir will be scary in swinging conditions but now they have Babar, Malik, Hafeez, Sohail and Safraz who look to score from ball 1. West Indies have a solid line up too with Roach, Joseph and Holder they won’t be easy to beat. Trent Boult will be awesome, Yadav will be awesome and I hope big bad Billy Stanlake plays because he’s 150km bowler who scares any batsman
The key player for every team at the 2019 Cricket World Cup
This is England’s cricket board trying to prevent the West Indies handling out a rare, humiliating and devastating 3-0 white wash. England have a team identity crisis where it finds itself in limbo between One Day Cricket and Tests. Without batsman who can occupy the crease such as Alister Cook, Nick Compton, David Malan and Joe Root out of form, England have assembled a side that is obsessed with attacking and is vulnerable to collapsing without having a batsman to dig them out
West Indies want over rate policy review
As long as Khawaja opens at the World Cup we will be competitive. It has to be Darcy Short, Usman Khawaja(vc), David Warner, Steve Smith, Shaun Marsh, Glen Maxwell, Tim Paine(c), Billy Stanlake, Pat Cummins, Ashton Agar, Mitch Starc, 12th man Jhye Richardson
The problems in Australian cricket won’t be solved by the current selectors or any former great
Geelong are going to win this year. They beat the teams they should and don’t get injured in the games they don’t need to win. They can beat any team on their day and with Richmond not their anymore it’s party time for Geelong fans!
