I checked my history and the article is hilarious , ” Brisbane and West Coast saved the VFL”……lol . Astute Businessmen , Diligent Accountants and new Media Deals secured and strengthened Victorian Clubs not interstate rivals .

Another fake news flag for Victoria unfairly won at the MCG

Victoria has the greatest most successful win/radio % against all teams . Vics put Aussie Rules on the map – that’s why in essence Melbourne gets the biggest crowds in the world per capita . WA fair weather supporters , SA more comfortable at Bathurst with all the petrol heads . Leave Aussie Rules to the Vic’s , we own it !

Would not have mattered if a few teams went bankrupt – the VFL would still of prospered and 100k would of turned up at the MCG .

Your lucky we include Adelaide in our competition – remember it was the VFL what evolved into the AFL – the VFL being the richest , most prestigious and supported competition in the country . If you don’t like playing on the most famous ground in the world in September go back to your little cricket ground in boring Adelaide .

I have never had to ” pretend ” to be anything as I know who and what I am – unlike the trendy champagne liberals who change like the wind , lol..,,

In the 1977 GF Collingwood lost the most talented player in the League to suspension – Fabulous Phil Carman . If Carman played ,the pies would of handsomely beat North .

I still can’t believe Ellis and Cotchin” got off ” scott free to play Saturday . Jason Cloke and Anthony Rocca both suspended for less dubuios incidents , which cost Collingwood dearly in two GF’s .

Oh well , can’t get in the way of a good luck story which is Richmond- hope the Crows flog the Grubs .

Five grand finals that truly deserve their 'classic' status

The NRL will end up with egg on their face when the postal outcome is a resounding NO .

Just like the populist media outlets in the US and the U.K. regarding Trump and Brexit, the Australian media have underestimated the volume of traditional virtues , norms , values and mores this Country was built on .

I fear Macklemore will end up a laughing stock on Sunday as the NRL and its working class roots are not ready for something like this.

Nice try to denigrate the Australian Captains name however, your argument has little substance as most of his peers recognize him as one of the greatest players of all time.

“When he was playing 8 for Randwick he was much feared…….”

He must have not been that feared as he never got a look in playing for the Wallabies. Maybe he was feared in the textile industry for making shoddy clothes.

The six most powerful Australian rugby union players of the past 18 years: Part 1

Categorically the most powerful man to adorn the Gold Jumper last 18 years is the great , great Toutai Kefu . Absolute bulldozer of a man who was the catalyst behind the RWC win 1999.

Spot on Duncan.

The Storm have been below par these finals ; just fleetingly playing the required football to win. Since Munster has returned he has thwarted their continuity – he takes the ball up to much and loses valuable shape doing so . A lot of the time he ends up crabbing across the field and his teammates don’t know what the hell he is going to do ! Contrast that with Slater’s runs which is like watching a Formula One car with traction .
Also , I think the club has a lot more on their mind then they are letting on – Cronk leaving , Slater undecided , numerous roster changes and last years hiccup . The premiership is there’s to lose and the pressure is palpable .
On the other hand , the Cowboys are riding shotgun and have all the momentum and have already exceeded expectations – this is when a side is at its most dangerous .

Cowboys have what it takes to beat the Storm

Big Al

5 premierships and played in the greatest VFL/AFL sides of all time.

Back then Aussie Rules was not a hybrid game of basketball and netball – you actually had to have a lot of raw football talent to be an AFL footballer, unlike today where players are recruited based on metrics – that’s’ why half of them can’t kick a goal straight in front!

Yes fair point you make – I got a bit over excited and forgot about 2008 – I was overseas so it really wasn’t etched in my memory.

But as of today – he is far more mature and has incredibly insights and wisdom into the sport which drive The Storm relentlessly. Billy is more important to them now than ever before.

Five talking points from Melbourne Storm vs Brisbane Broncos NRL preliminary final

I have been saying for 3 years Melbouren can’t win the GF without Slater . Rugby League has never seen a match winner of his qualities coupled with that defensive prowess . Billly is the best and most valuable in the NRL period , as no other players possess his skill set , organization skills and iron will to win . In games 2 and 3 in SOO he was easily Queensland’s best and in essence probably saved Walters job – which Kevvie has alluded to.

Billly will make an exceptional coach and don’t be surprised to see him rise to the level of Bellamy. The man is a Rugby League anorak with an elite brain to match .

Five talking points from Melbourne Storm vs Brisbane Broncos NRL preliminary final

Scott did well to get Geelong to a preliminaryt final as the Cats have lost a number of great players over recent years and hav been carrying further ” oldies” pending retirement.

The problem Geelong have is their forward line. Hawkins is simply not a match winner , never has been . Considering Hawkins size he hits packs like a winger and doesn’t open up enough spaces for teammates to prosper . Geelong should trade Hawkins and look at restructuring their forward line over the summer.

They need a Dermott Brereton type forward – fearless , tough , aggressive , inspirational and a natural leader. I am not a Hawthorn supporter but use to marvel what Dermott brought to the field ; his presence alone was worth an extra player . Opposition players ALWAYS new he was around and team mates grew an extra foot when” the kid” was running amok.

Adelaide firm favourites for the flag, regardless of opponent

Has there ever been a better coach and/or mentor in any sport than Craig Bellamy ? Turns rejected , broken , burnout out men into absolute Thorobreds .
Due to the salary cap many of his best players have left but they are always welcomed back to the club with open arms and thanks. When Smith broke the games record recently there was Matt Geyer and Greg Inglis clapping him on as he ran out – class personified by this great club.

Take a bow Craig Bellamy, Cameron Smith and your Storm troopers

Robert
Ben probably disappeared from playing as other blokes didn’t aprreciate his sideway glances after the game washing dust from their legs.

Who will join the Purple Pride in the NRL final?

Brilliant ?

Storm hate is mere jealously

Ken

Totally agree with you!

Could you imagine the extra, extra Melbourne hate if we had a Pom as Captain like that Grub Graham ? The Canterbury Cannibals – I’d take a chicken wing over half an ear any day thanks.

TheBarry

Please list the players who have succumb to injury against The Storm in light of ” inventing chicken wings , grapples, rolling pins .etc. Tactics designed to immobilize opponents under threat of serious injury ” ?

Ahhhh , not many , if any , by my memory ? Rugby League is a brutal game , if you are demonizing The Storm for these tactics which the referees don’t seem to have a problem with , then you are inherently bias and subjective against The Storm .

The Sorm are simply the best becuase they have the best coach in the NRL and three of the greatest players of all time in key positions . Throw in a couple of agile Fijian wingers and some hard as nail Kiwi forwards and you have little hope of beating them , minus these supposedly dubious tactics you talk about .

If a Sydney club had employed similar tactics their would be little noise coming from these pages. Get over it and man up – League is a tough sport . Just 20 years ago king hitting blokes was the trend – and you are whinging about supposed dangerous wrestling tactics the League has not got an issue with and banned .

Storm hate is mere jealously

Birdman

Yes that is definitely a possibility as they we’re quite the specimens . Conversely they could all run and run all game long inside big muscular frames . We know the Sandgropers love their recreational gear , so maybe your speculation may have some weight behind it – no pun intended !

Maybe it's time for Sydney to introduce a ‘no going missing in finals' policy

Kane
Last time I checked I said ” a Carlton man ” – I thought Mick cut his teeth at the Tigers . Anyway , Mick was passed it when he went to the Blues , never less he was a great coach in his prime . I can’t see Bolton cut from the same cloth – to much of a poindexter .

Who cares if the players ” love ” Bolton – where did they finish on the ladder ? Supposedly , the players at Collingwood love Buckley – where did they finish on the ladder ? We all know Buckley can’t coach and Bolton’s certainly on the same path – clueless under pressure and unable to instigate different strategies . As I said – way to manufactured and constructed to implement flexible plans when under the pump.
