Agree – on score line and dominance, the ’87 Abs team take the cake. The 2015 team is one of the best i’ve seen on a rugby field. Another factor is quality of opposition, resulting in less of gap between the Abs and the world. In 2019, that ‘gap’ is much smaller than in 2015.

Ralph – great article. Top four is bearable as a minimum KPi and the Abs ticked that. We’ve won 90% of games over a decade, an excellent stretch of success. Time for a new crop to get the cup back in 2023 and farewell to the greats Shag and Reado.

Fionn – the rwc knockout stages does funny things to teams. One NH team has ever won the rwc, despite NH success in-between rwc years. Why? Pressure, pressure, pressure. Based on previous rwc performances, Ireland have folded under that pressure and likely the same will happen this year.

Disagree Scotty – the rwc tournament is a different kettle of fish from your one off test matches in a regular season. It’s a different pressure and one that the Ab’s are accustomed to hence they being triple world champions. Ireland on the other hand have a reputation of choking and crumbling at the rwc knockout stages, as do other NH countries. The All Blacks by 13+
