An absolute spanking that one – didn’t see it coming. I’m surprised some of our (Brumbies) key players weren’t yanked earlier due to poor mistakes and decision making. I expect them not only to bemuch better next week but to beat the Canes! They are much better then the game that happened tonight. And one more thing – against v.good teams, you *always* take the $*%#$#%*&$ points on offer… Unbelievable…

Brumbies 'systematically taken apart by the Blues' in 'non-contest' as Larkham's men cop huge reality check

Yep I might’ve be able to do that but I’ve often found at big sporting events that the mobile 4G data signals get hammered by all the connections and anything needing decent data throughput (like streaming) doesn’t work. Having said that, I didn’t give it a go at Suncorp on Sat. However I still think more stuff could be conveyed via the screens at the ground. I paid $150 for my ticket so I don’t think it is asking too much for a better attendance experience.

The Wrap: Yes, rugby needs fixing, but not for the reasons most people think

I’m a rugby tragic and went to my first international on Saturday night (though have gone to various Brumbies games over the years). A couple of reflections:
1) game time delays – it was so annoying how much time was waiting for things to happen (eg scrum resets, goal kicking, injuries, TMO reviews etc). Why can a goal kicker seemingly undertake a meditation session before kicking the bloody ball?!? I’m so used watching games on Stan starting 30 min after kick off so I can jump over all the stoppages.
2) lack of contextual clues to the game – half the time I had no idea what penalties were for; no idea of the results of HIA assessments; oblivious to what TMOs were looking at etc. (yes, we do get notified of substitutions). Surely more details could be put up on the screens to assist viewers at the game.
If I had gone with a rugby virgin, it would have been hard to convince them how great the game is given the above (besides how well the Wallabies played)

Going to my first wallabies game ever tomorrow. Can’t wait!

'Fantastic energy': Everything Hoops said about Taniela return, Jordy change and not getting 'sucked in' by Poms

Well done brumbies and coaching team. Was an awesome game to watch!
Waiting for troll boy Trytime to tell all how bad McKellar is…. 😂

'Unreal': Brumbies defy red card, rain to sink Hurricanes and prevent NZ clean sweep

You got to love how he plays rugby and he never is abusive to anyone on the field so great that we will see him in action again.

Just got to reading your article Brett well after the games have been played – funny how much your predictions were undone by various upsets!

Super Rugby Finals: UPDATED best and worst case ladder positions for every team and predicted quarterfinal match ups

Sigh

Do it for Dan: Brumbies want to send McKellar out as winner as Bobby set for return

A bit of a troll there. Yeah, McKellar is to blame for his team unable to pass and catch tonight, and normally sensible players suddenly doing stupid things…. I feel sorry for the coaching staff tonight. The team really let them down. Still confident they can make it click next week.

REACTION: 'Out played, out enthused' - Brumbies stumble into finals after Moana Pasifika shocker

Me too. As a ‘hater’ of the traditional (and born to rule) rugby powerhouses in Australia, I usually rejoice in their every loss (particularly to my team the Brumbies) but as a lover of rugby, I can’t help but enjoy watching the Tahs in recent games. I salve my conscience by telling myself that it can only be good for the Wallabies.

I’ve always thought this which was why as a Collingwood fan (AFL) I was never in favor of Nathan Buckley being appointed coach. It is also why as a Brumbies fan I’m not overly enthusiastic about Stephen Larkin taking the top job next year. Loved him as a player and respect him as a person but will he be a coach who brings out the best in the Brumbies? I’d be likely to put money into Bitcoin before backing that proposition…

Was also at the game which I expected us to lose after hearing about the absence of Lolesio and Valetini. To my surprise, we played worse than I anticipated in the first half and much better in the second. My recollection was lots of errors and lack of composure in the first half. But the second half was encouraging. In the past, such a performance by an Australian team in the first half would have seen the Crusaders blow out the score as the game progressed, but we were the better team in that second half and the Brumbies showed real purpose and composure as the game went on. So even with the continued loss of Valetini this week (and his impact is huge), I’m cautiously backing a Brumbies win against the Blues this week, especially with Lolesio back in the 10 role. Should be a cracker!

Weekend Super Rugby lessons: Pick your mark and time your run

I’m usually no Simmons fan but I thought he was one of our best on the field and actually deserved his place on the team. Would give him a 7+.
As for Hooper, being the captain and not going for points when on offer made him in my mind our worst on the paddock. 3-
