Hear, hear! Those unsavoury incidents are a disgrace.
Can’t wait to see what Porte can dish up…
I’m not a fan of the Sky approach to Le Tour but you have to admit that their team, and tactics, were pretty solid!

Did the 2015 Tour de France deliver on its promises?

Quintana is an excellent climber but with Sky being able to respond to him and then him only really attacking when it was too late the Yellow Jersey competition was a bit of a dud.

Three in a row this week is a tough ask for Froome. At about 3 minutes gap to both Van Garderen and Quintana he can’t afford to have even a bad few moments. Valverde in support of Quintana could be very interesting to watch as well. It ain’t over yet folks.

Give Chris Froome the title now, le Tour is over

I doubt GreenEdge can afford him (Porte).

The experts say that hitting your opposition hard on the first real climbing stage is a good path to a Tour victory. Wiggins, Contador, Armstrong, Niblai are all riders that have used this tactic with success.

However, I wouldn’t be writing Quintana off just yet. If he’s saved enough energy (note that he didn’t try and out sprint Porte) and can have a really good outing in the next couple of stages then he has to be a chance.

Barring a crash, illness, mechanical, bad weather, dog on the road, spectator’s camera or a collision with a team car you’d think that Froome has the Tour to lose rather than win. But those are a lot of factors beyond his control.

Canberra is boring….cheap shot Tim.

Yes it’s cold and the rest of the country send their politicians here but Public Servants (and I am not one) are just regular people with kids, families, mortgages and footy club memberships.

Like any city there is plenty to do here if you take off the blinkers.

Do we actually care that players take drugs?

The Brumbies have even longer between the curtain raiser and the main game. For those interested in those matches at the League or the Union the long wait is a real disincentive. It’s a bloody cold stadium, but it’s worse when you’ve got nothing to do except sit and wait. If there was a passout option it’d almost be worth going home for a bit!

GWS don’t “have” to play here in Canberra. They choose to. Manuka is a great place to watch football and as noted, the crowds have been decent so far. If they took the “Sydney” out of their name they might get even more members here 🙂

Go Giants!

Greater Western Sydney Giants are giving too much ground to NRL

I was there; a great win from GWS and well deserved.
In order to compete with the “big boys” they are going to need to convert more opportunities up front. 16 goals is great but 23 behinds along with that is not. Even allowing for the odd dodgy kick and rushed behind I really felt that GWS could have thrashed the Suns by another 4 or 5 goals.

After watching another game fizzle out (Brumbies vs Rebels 18/4) as the scrum failed to set the solution seems simple.
-the teams get x amount of time to set the scrum; those wasting time are penalised
-time goes back on when the ball is put into the scrum
-one reset per scrum only
Sadly, the scrum is slowing the game down so much that it’s a bit of a joke.
