Why do they have to keep adding rules – why dont they simply remove some of the stupid rules that are ruining the game.
The protected zone is one of the most stupid ill thought out rules ever. The deliberate out of bounds makes no sense – they are paying it to players who miss kick into their attacking forward for f%#$s sake.
The sliding rule is over umpired – the umpires are always too quick on the whistle – sometimes the ball is coming free and they ahev already blown the whistle. Gone are the old shirt front and the proposed goal alley will have unintended consequences that will punish players who will go for low percentage checkside kicks rather than centering the ball – the reason – because the kick out from a point will be just too much of a disadvantage. What will happen with the old “lock it in the forward 50” – too bad for the teams where they worked so hard in training on doing that. The AFL wants to turn the game into a vanilla style game where every team fields the same type of players and plays the same – they want to get rid of the variation between games that makes individual teams unique.

AFL rule changes spoken into existence

Instead of adding rules on top of rules on top of rules the AFL would spend its time better to remove some of the ridiculous layers of rules that will return it to the game it use to be.

It appears that all these new rules are just trying to fix the consequences of the rules they have prevously added when removing the rules would do the same job!

Though the 6-6-6 trule is more palatable than a ridiculous goal alley they proposed to introduce – it is turning the game into a vanilla ame where every team is expected to field the same type of players and play the same type of game style which is exactly what will make it boring. They are better off keeping it the way it is, remove some of the already introduced rules and allow teams to recruit and train and play their unique style and allow teams and coaching to evolve naturally.

The AFL is just so STUPID – leave the game alone – the only people complaining are the hournos and thats beacuse they are paid to say things regardless of if it makes sense or not.

This is more than just talking results. It is about families unable to afford to watch their team who finished top to play in a GF.

Grand Finals at the MCG are unfair? That's rubbish

OMG – you do realise that three of those games were played by only interstate teams. It would be a bit hard for a Vic team to win the GF when they are not even playing….rofl!!!!

Grand Finals at the MCG are unfair? That's rubbish

AFL just has to ackoledge the unfairness of the system and get on with it. Everyone just wants people to acknowledge the truth and that at least takes a bit of the distaste away.

Grand Finals at the MCG are unfair? That's rubbish

Put an asterix against every Vic win where they play their away GF in comfortable old Melbourne.

Grand Finals at the MCG are unfair? That's rubbish

If this game was played in Adelaide – as they certainly deserved the right – then Richmod would have fallen in a heap….just like they had for every interstate game for the last 15 months (excpet their last against a deflated GC).

Grand Finals at the MCG are unfair? That's rubbish

And the fact Adelaide thumped Richmond in both games either side of this game (both in Adelaide) shows nothing…..one day you may admit to yourself there is a thing called home ground advantage. The coaches know it….some of them even send their ruckman interstate one day earlier to the rest of the team because the tra vel apparently affects them more….nuff said.

Grand Finals at the MCG are unfair? That's rubbish

Geelong had to play their home game at MCG – if it was played at Kardia Park the cats would have pummelled them.

Grand Finals at the MCG are unfair? That's rubbish

Cough cough…the only team they have beaten interstate for last 15 months is Gold Coast. Keep dreaming.

Grand Finals at the MCG are unfair? That's rubbish

You do know that Victorian players play for interstate teams….they will want to play in Victoria but I doubt many of the non-Vic players do (excpet those playing for the Vic sides).

Grand Finals at the MCG are unfair? That's rubbish

Apparently the VFL cannot manage a micky mouse comp but the US can…..go figure.

The AFL's grand final plan is a slap in the face to 45% of fans

In that case I guess we will never see a true impartial competition…too bad.

The AFL's grand final plan is a slap in the face to 45% of fans

Lets face it….Victorians cannot build stadiums without these deals…..aparranlty other states can do it but not Vics.

The AFL's grand final plan is a slap in the face to 45% of fans

Actually Adelaide had to play one of its finals (not GF) in Melbourne so the biased rules were still in place. It was becoming embarrasing and so the VFL had to change tack…but only a little bit.

The AFL's grand final plan is a slap in the face to 45% of fans

You must have gone to a Port game.

The AFL's grand final plan is a slap in the face to 45% of fans

That is just marketing crap.

What makes the MCG the “spiritual home”. The first game was not played there…you and others are just falling into the VFL marketing crap. It is also not a “neutral venue”. just because some crap commentators like McAveney say it is.

The AFL's grand final plan is a slap in the face to 45% of fans

No problem there as long as the Vics own up to the disadvantage.

Funny watching Eddie McGuire gripe on radio about unfair advantage of having one less day to prepare for Richmond game…where is he now that Collingwood play their away GF at home!!!!

The AFL's grand final plan is a slap in the face to 45% of fans

The AFL is doing a great job in building the game and supporting all levels…they just have to openly admit it is at the cost of a true top level national league where all teams are treated equal.

The AFL's grand final plan is a slap in the face to 45% of fans

You have to give up…the Vic based supporters will always refuse to acknowledge the unfairness. Meanwhile the rest of the country just have to put asterix’s next to the compromised premierships. That includes Richmod V Adelaide, WB V Sydney and quite a few others where the non-Vic teams played their home GF in Melbourne.

The AFL's grand final plan is a slap in the face to 45% of fans

You do realise that the AFL gets billions (thats with a B) from its media deals….and you want to argue over a paltry few million (thats with an m).

Too bad Vics cannot acknowledge the unfairness.

It would be a lot easier for interstate supporters to stomache if only the Vics would at least acknowledge the unfariness and the dadvantage given to the Vic clubs.

PS Geelong are also disadvantaged as for instnce they had to play Richmod at the MCG in 2017 despite it being their home final. They would have thumped richmond if only the VFL was truely impartial.

The AFL's grand final plan is a slap in the face to 45% of fans

I dont have a problem with this…as long as the Victorian clubs can only claim the “Compromised Premiership” and not allow history to white wash the extra leg up they are given by the VFL…I mean AFL.

The AFL's grand final plan is a slap in the face to 45% of fans

Why is it Victorians dont seem to be able to sustain their statdiums without these deals. SA, and WA seem to be able to build/maintain stadiums but Vics cannot…pathetic.

The AFL's grand final plan is a slap in the face to 45% of fans

And too bad for those sucker families outside of Victoria who might actually want to take their children – forget it – it’ll cost like $10K.

AFL sucks balls! Hope Murdock and Packer can sort this issue out with a break-away comp.

The AFL's grand final plan is a slap in the face to 45% of fans

Meanwhile money flows out of the state and money pours into Melbourne – great for Vic jobs I guess.
