Im sorry I have not seen a clean out like that since Bakkies against Jones in the BIL SA tour.

Not arms is the problem, going in to kill someone instead of cleaning out.

Hooper will get two matches.

LAIDLAW: We're heading for a southern hemisphere final

Ill start by saying I love your conurbation to the roar Biltong, you are a good writer with a ton of knowledge and your in-depth views (especially scrum) always lure me in. In saying this I have started noticing an alarming trend in your writing, something you will probably be picked up on writing in SA, and that is your hatred for the Bulls.

Looking over this article I must say this time your bias is clearly noticeable.

I can sum your article in a few words… Anyone that had anything to do with the bulls where terrible and don’t have or should have any excuses, if they where good, it was barely acceptable. Anyone who had not been living in the local area of Loftus where OK and if they weren’t we can find a few excuses for them and thats OK.

With 10 minutes of game time in 11 months Du Preeze looked by far the best 9 of 2015 in green but because he use to be a Bull its not good enough but hey lets use game time excuse for Le Roux who had about 100 times the game time.

I bet if there where a Bull in the front row angling would not be an excuse.

Matfield had a good game he is no less effective in his role then McCaw is at his core rugby job. Neither of them are the players they use to be BUT they are there for leadership, somehow Matfields experience does not count for anything its all BullS8th right?

“Victor Matfield was one of them, perhaps my personal bias shines through, I don’t like the man, I never have, but to his credit he threw his 56 year old body around like a 38 year old, stole some line outs and made the most tackles.” I can tell that was hard to put down, followed by “Schalk Burger was immense, his link play is second to none, his ability to see where the overlaps are, when to carry, when to offload and when to pass is a revelation, I don’t believe South Africa has had a better link player than him eva.”

Burger was having a great day and should thank his lucky start he never moved to Gauteng or nothing he does would have been good engouh.

Now I am just a sour as you are regarding the style of rugby we play but this is hardly the time to change it. Meyer is not the best coach everyone knows it but everything he does right is skipped over because you guessed it he spent too much time in Pretoria. all except NZ’s coach will still select Matfield not only for the insurance at line out but also for the knowledge the young blokes are gaining. Yes the players are to old the age plan is too old but for heavens sake tone down the Bulls hate.

The Springboks must always remember Japan

Mania did Meyer give PDV a right hook?

what a coincidence JDV also has a broken jaw! 🙂

Two-speed Boks have hard calls ahead

Biltong Beks prayers have been answered, one down 2-3 more to go! 🙂

Thanks for the memories JDV, super nice guy and great Springbok.

I will fondly remember his combination with J Fourie

Jean De Villiers retires after breaking jaw

Hop along one thing I found strange during my visit to Samoa was their infatuation with the Bulls and Joost… don’t know why but that clip shows the spirit of the pacific teams.

Lovely stuff.

Heyneke Meyer: Dream turns into nightmare

I would not coach the boks even if they offered me $10 million, its the captain that decides if you go for post or corner not Meyer.

The players, young and old let the ball drop, there was no urgency. They underestimated the blossoms, you don’t need much of a game plan to beat Japan, or so they thought and they allocated the time to give guys game time and rest/cotton wool others.

Im not Meyer apologist but blaming him for everything is naive.

The boks could beat Japan using last years game plan but they where out played by a gutsy and hungry team that got a sniff.

Meyer has held on to players for to long but people need to open their eyes a little, Du Preeze looked sharp when he came on and put players into space with his first two touches, he looked 10 times sharper then Pienaar. Matfield played a good game over all, master at line out and even took the ball up.

McCaw is not the player he use to be, even turning to tripping players but he is there to guide the team, Matfield is no less then McCaw at his respective core role.

Meyer is not a great coach but he is not as bad as everyone is pinning him for.

If the boks go on to win the RWC it would be because of composure in the big matches, FDP and a basic but aging game plan that suits RWC knockouts.

Heyneke Meyer: Dream turns into nightmare

King saying PDV was better is saying John Smit, FDP and Matfield are better then Meyer… PDV never coached the boks, he simply entertained the media another SA token selection.

Only difference is PDV had all the same players 4 years younger.

Sack Meyer and five other steps to fix South African rugby

History it seems is repeating it self.

Bismark on the bench for captain John Smit in 2011, when Du Plessis was without a doubt the best hooker in SA if not the world.

Atleast its not boring being a bok supporter, imagine being an All Black fan win win win best best best…. how boring 🙂

Heyneke Meyer doubles down and loses big

He leads in penalties… its simple refs are to scared of binning all blacks especially Sir Ructhy

SPIRO: Pumas good, the All Blacks very good

Grent, fully agree the backline started working in attack when FDP and Pollard came on.

De Allende MUST start!

Schalk to 6 and Thor in

Japan beat South Africa in the biggest upset in rugby history

With 5 to go I stopped cheering the boks and started cheering the blossoms!

Great coaching and unbelievable heart shown by the players, I hope this helps them build their Super team.

I am not even upset, the better team won.

South Africa will has one of these each RWC, this one out of the way re group and battle on.

Japan beat South Africa in the biggest upset in rugby history

Why Folau when you can stick another champion red in at 15. 🙂

Matt Giteau sorted out Nick Phipps, and so must Cheika

Pocock wrought singlehandedly against the Springboks in the 2011 (not 7) Rugby World Cup

SPIRO: The Wallabies beat the USA Eagles, with no injuries!

I use to believe that Cheika is a man with an intelligent plan… I am slowly starting to doubt him.

He clearly is not intended to solidify a team before the RWC starts, mark my words, book mark this page.

The Wallabies will falter due to lack of combination and too many changes.

Thanks SM, I was seriously concerned that their are afrikaner people with a direct translation of this name!

Do you know what it means in Scottish?

Boks can't outrun old race wars

Ball game you seem to be good at regurgitating information, try this

Apartheid was implemented only 5 years after India won its independence from Great Britain, aboriginals where still classified as Fauna and flora (not citizens) and 18 years before the assassination of Dr King during the civil rights movement in the USA. I think its safe to say the mid 20th century was not a good time for race relations. But lets be honest and honest all the way South African apartheid went on for far too long. Racism in all its forms all around the world is wrong. Besides being racist bigots the pre isolation governments knew how to run a country and measured right up with other top countries.

The problem with the post apartheid governments is, not only are their motives driven by hate but they lack the foresight to govern for the people. Their political nous is still attached to their tribal ways where corruption merely takes a more natural (to tribal) form in trading with those closest to you be it cattle, top jobs or gov tender contracts, hell the 72 president has 6 wives the latest more then half his age. The common practise of lobola where you barter for a young bride by paying the father in head of cattle is still a major allowance to men of any age. In a country where there is a rape every 16 seconds its no surprise that one of the president many run ins with the law includes rape charges.

We are honest in condemning apartheid and rightfully so but we cannot chose when to be honest and when its ok to let it slide, and just as we said South Africa cannot join the modern world while apartheid is in practise we must also except that as long as the ANC is in power South Africa will not prosper. Estimates range from 200-300 billion rand ($20-30Bil) lost through corruption each year you could build new rugby fields in each school every year for the next hundred years. The average of 16 thousand murders a year could yield at least one All Black team (just kidding kiwi’s).

I am not an apartheid apologist I am a realist in 20 years of government post apartheid having a proven and developed treasure chest South Africa has gone backwards and its time the people and the government stop blaming the whites, apartheid or the west for the state of affairs, stop focusing on the Springboks and if they are black enough and start voting for a better life not a streetwise KCF meal and a yellow T-shirt every 4 years. Total honesty and Education will get SA there unfortunately the ANZ can not fit the equation.

I did not run away from South Africa, I migrated. I weighed up my options and the options of my family and chose to move, I don’t care how that makes you measure my character. I am safe, my family is safe and we have a chance to get out what we put in, a fair go.

Fair call on the rivers but if the system got upgraded in the last 20 years for the planned growth it should be able to cope. This could be by utilising the wind in the WP, tidal or solar… you could even upgrade the existing nuclear or coal generators. Sorry the river excuse is not going to fly with me. Australia is also a dry country and their electricity is running 24/7.

Its a testament to the the previous government that they managed to build a system that could scale for 20 years and three fold increase of use.

Corruption is everywhere but as far as government goes South Africa is the king.

I have a very good perspective of South Africa having come from there and able to measure it to living in other countries. You might not like what I have to say but my opinion is educated and well supported.

Good article Andrew, I love the historical articles that pop up on the roar.

Evidently only 4 years after the Dr Craven chat in 1967 Australia held a referendum to include aboriginal as citizens until that year they were regulated under Flora and Fauna Law.

Spot on with tourism Chook, it remains an amazing destination. I constantly recommend this to Australians.

My wife who is Australian fell in love with SA, I like that she has a narrow view on the country, I don’t ever want to change what she experienced there.

Its based on twitter followers, the same reason QC is picked for the Wallabies.

He is not in form but even at his best the coach will not pick him for do or die games against the top nations, to risky.

The problem with Williams is if he does not off load and goes to ground its a turnover be it by force or handling error. The All blacks don’t like turning over attacking ball.

Besides RL has he really achieved much in the boxing ring, or in Union has he played the big matches?

Its wonderful that he is able to get to such a level in most sports but he is not a master of them the same will apply to the olympics.

Why is Sonny Bill Williams in the All Blacks' RWC squad?

Gilbert I recon the Kings will beat your team.

PeterK

“Hardly the rest of the world’s responsibility to interfere in domestic affairs where it is a matter of mismanagement and corruption.”

This was not the case with apartheid, the world seem to make it its responsibility.

The truth is during apartheid there where less people living in poverty, health was at an all time high, education (through limited) was free and pre isolation the economy was world class.

Now its very much the opposite. you could say with the rate of crime and poverty there is a much larger humanitarian crisis then having separate toilets.

The truth is SA will transition into another Zimbabwe with the constitution already being ignored by the governing ANZ, this is the first step towards dictatorship, lets not beet around the bush Robert Mugabe is not a loved man, yet he was the man to set Zimbabwe free.

The world needs to learn that balance is the key in 20-30 years SA will move from one end of the spectrum Apartheid to the other end African tribal style governance aka dictatorship. You cannot hand the car keys to a 10 year old and be surprised when they crash it.

People study the south africa situation like it is a first, its not its african and there are a number of failed states to reference, some of them where hate is brewed ended very badly.

I am Australian now and I am very thankful my son is born Australian being raised in an equal society without paying the price for history, other are not as lucky as I am.

Nearly every country has a checkered past but the majority groups can write history the way they seem fit or apologise and get it over with.

“Democracy is in place. The majority vote for this government. The people get the government they deserve.”

This is very true but not in SA people vote and get what they deserve but don’t like it and blame the white man or apartheid. There is no accountability demanded by the easily voted in ANC

Boks can't outrun old race wars

Hi Machooka, when was the last time you were in South Africa?

True freedom will come when both sides consolidate and education is forced on all.

Problem with SA today is that the ANC don’t want educated masses, they like it simple where votes are won with $1 T-shirts and KFC not by political agendas. This is why corruption does not require answers.

So much can be achieved in 20 years in a country rich with resources. Unfortunately its only gone backwards in 20 years as far as infrastructure, crime and unemployment goes.

Education is the answer but as with everything else you need someone competent in charge of it.
