Players make their way out onto Allianz Stadium – a healthy crowd has made the trip out to Moore park for what should be a good contest. I can’t split the sides ahead of the match, so i’m tipping the draw.

Good evening ladies and gents. A great night for football in Sydney tonight, and we’re only about 15 minutes away from kick off. A bit of team news before we get underway, David Villa is set to start off the bench for the visitors.

Santi Cazorla is the go-to man. Although he too is probably best used centrally, he has proved time and time again to be effective on the left third of the field. He was instrumental in their FA Cup success and has played provider many a time from the left flank.
He and Podolski could be feeling a little hard done by, in my opinion.
Özil left out in left midfield by Wenger
The beauty of hindsight, hey? Here i was writing off my own boys before they produce one of the efforts of the season.

Considering our position in the competition and the context off all the off-filed drama, I would have to agree that the Roosters win was by far the best in our recent history. Brisbane a close second, however only because Carney, Gallen and Lewis played that night which wasn’t the case the following week.
Bias aside, I thought we were very (for want of a better word) unlucky to not win last night. Sure the Taumalolo second try was questionable, and i’m not saying that cost us the match, but in the end Thurston’s class got his side home.
That’s just what we’re lacking at the moment. Hopefully we’ll find a genuine number 7 who can again create more ‘folklore’ moments.
Gallant Sharks again prove that nothing means everything
It would be great to re-build this team into the one that was everyone’s second favourite through out the 1990s. It’ll be a long and tough road to change the perceptions, but it all starts off the field.
I’m not only hopeful but confident that Noyce and Flanagan can get this side back on track. Young talent isn’t an issue when you look at the likes of Feki, Holmes, Gagan and Leutele ready to prosper.
And while it’s clear we need a good 6 and 7, star players aren’t going to come to a shambles club. Not saying that the Bears were that but they too had their issues that ultimately went unresolved.
I don’t want to be the NRL’s charity case. We cop enough flak as it is already.
But Cronulla again need to learn how to walk before they can hope to run. I for one will be there for every small, but very significant step along the journey.
