That squad pretty much leaves Ben Franks as the only cover for Woodcock. If Woodcock needs a rest or has a niggle you don’t have a reserve Loose head.

Hansen did make comment recently that he felt comfortable with Slade covering in that scenario for one match.

We won the last world cup without him.

Vito’s selection was already decided before we kicked off last weekend. It has nothing to do with winning the Bledisloe, it has everything to do with WC selection.

Hansen looking for Victor-y through the accuracy of Vito

I’m not sure taking three locks is the best option. Whitelock can cover blindside better then any of our loosies could cover lock. So for me i would take four locks and keep five loose forwards. It takes away any chance of really being caught out. Vito can secure his spot over Messam with a good game this weekend.

The whole saga around the ten jumper has been clouded even further by Barrett’s poor form and Hansen’s reluctance to give anyone other then Carter any real minutes. At the moment Lima Sopoaga is the only guy who gives me any confidence, he simply must go to the WC as insurance. Carter and Barrett are both dreadfully short of the mark at this stage and Slade is ???, who really knows he hasn’t played.

Charlie Piutau booked his ticket weeks ago there is no confusion there. Hansens comments about Naholo are simply about keeping him positive, there is no chance he will go imo. Milner Skudder can secure his ticket with a solid display this weekend. Dagg’s only shot would then be if Hansen decides he is worth the risk of only taking two halfbacks.

Nepo Laulala needs to be given 40 minutes this weekend so he can prove he has the goods, then the Famuina risk can be taken off the table, he needs to recover properly not rush back and be expected to play in a world cup.

This has been far from a great buildup for the All Blacks, so many players are simply below their normal high standards. There have been comments made lately by Rettalick, Hansen, Foster and now Ben Smith that leads me to believe there is far to much structure and gameplan being drilled into these guys that they are forgetting to use their natural instincts which is what separates us from the rest. I hope they sort this issue out sooner rather then later.

The fact Hansen has put Carters last home test ahead of what’s best for the team and our world cup prep is what concerns me. He is letting sentiment dictate his selections not form.

Does the RC not count? Does the Bledisloe not count? They were both up for grabs last week and both those guys failed to show.

It doesn’t matter how poorly Carter plays this week he will go to the world cup regardless. Hansen is hell bent on playing him into form at all costs. This is about Daniel Carter the legend being put above the All Blacks best interests. They are hell bent on sending him out with a fairy tale finish for being one of the best players on the planet for roughly a decade. Sopoaga getting another game and nailing it would put a huge spanner in this plans works so they simply hide him away to keep the Carter critics quiet.

Hansen looks like he is going to see Cheikas double opensides and raise it two blinds.

Could explain why Thrush has been unseen. There’s so many little surprises they can spring at selection time.

They will at the WC they just don’t want the All Blacks getting another shot at them prior because that combination can be a bit of a confidence trump card for the Wallabies to bust out if we meet in the knockouts. That could all be lost if the ABs faced them on Sat and spanked them.

We don’t have a top side anymore. Fekitoa is playing better rugby then Smith. Piutau has been one of the best All Blacks this year. Crockett is a better allround player then Woodcock. Lauala has offered far more then O Franks. Lima Sopoaga is the form 10 in NZ right now. There is to much uncertainty to be comfortable calling this the top team.

Kaino wasn’t dropped they just need to see Vito play at 6 to determine who goes to the WC. If Vito plays well Messam will miss out. Great to see Milner Skudder retained, it shows one more good performance and he is off to the WC. Frustrating again to see Franks and Woody be handed another start, all I can think of is Hansen wanting to see them respond, see if they still can. Another average day at the office for those two and I would expect to see Crockett start the first WC game against the Puma. Not looking good for Lima Sopoaga all the eggs have been put in one basket, I hope for everyone’s sake Carter can find the level we need him to. I will happily admitt being wrong about him if he can show us emphatically this weekend that he is still the man.

When guys are obviously on the steady decline and haven’t played to All Black standards in 12 months and have lost an RC in that period you have to question why

England's Johnson: Wallabies the most lethal team on the planet

Don’t let the result paper over the issues in the Wallaby game, they were far from perfect. The All Blacks are guilty of doing just that. We have been letting the final result mask the weaknesses developing in our game.

Note to the Wallabies: Be afraid, be very afraid

Milner Skudder and Romano aside it would be classed as top team. Nonu was injured and SBW is part of the top 23 so there is no excuses there. When you look at Romano he played reasonably well. Milner Skudder was close to the best AB on the paddock. So the issue does not sit with those guys who are not in the “top starting side” it actually sits with the guys who are considered to be the top team.

Note to the Wallabies: Be afraid, be very afraid

For a few of them it actually rings true this year.

Note to the Wallabies: Be afraid, be very afraid

Honest review? LOL yeah right. Foster has come in to bat for DC apparently his showing was due to cluttered minds around him. His missed touch finder was due to SBW thinking about his next boxing opponent. His failed kickoffs due to A Smith thinking about how he can style O Franks hair to make him more scary to the opposition. Cmon Foster be honest, cluttered minds comes back directly to the coaching staff if that’s actually the case. We have not dominated the breakdown very often in the past few years if we are being honest. The only truth to come from the AB camp is that Carter cant perform if our pack doesn’t dominate, if that’s. The case were in trouble. Cruden managed to do it numerous times.

Hurting All Blacks have 'honest' review

A dead rubber. We had the must win test on the weekend and lost. Now we have another must win test and will now miss out on giving much needed opportunities to form players in preparation for selecting a suitable 31 man squad in favor of letting players who don’t need game timetable a chance to redeem themselves. We are in this situation because we lost on the weekend, only Skudder and Romano were what can be argued as second string and Romano is now in our top 23 so he needs game time. Skudder was arguably the best AB on the paddock. So basically ur blaming Romano for our loss.

Jokerman how many of those core players are playing better rugby now then three years ago or even last year? Nonu. That’s it. It wouldn’t be an issue if we had seen glimpses of form from some of our key players but sadly a few of them haven’t shown they can still reach those heights. Seriously when do we take the hint? Losing the RC and jeopardizing the Bledisloe and possibly inclusion in the WC squad wasn’t enough for many of them to lift, short of a smack over the head what more of a sign do we need?

Heat on All Blacks stars

If we head into the world cup with the plan being to play the tried n true regardless of form we will not come close. I don’t care who is in our team names don’t mean a thing its all about who are currently the best 31 and then 23 players in NZ. Currently names are making the majority of this side not form. This is when everyone should be peaking we are one game out from the WC. Hansen has effectively shown his hand already with so many fresher legs unseen or underutilized it’s obvious what the plan is.

Under achieving and turning forwards into extra backs.

What the Wallabies exposed was a poor game plan and a poor general directing it. Rushing defence offers opportunities for the 10 to run and get in behind a fast moving wall of defence. Daniel Carter ran the ball twice!! add to that other basic errors and slow passes putting huge pressure on SBW, who seems to copping the flak for Carters shortcomings. How on earth anyone can continue to push for his inclusion is absurd.

Brodie Rettalick made some comments regarding the work around the breakdown, it was to the effect that they have a system and set players to do that job at given times and when they didn;t make it the other guys stayed in there system rather then using their brains and securing the ball. This explains everything, this is why we have so many guys not hitting the rucks because they are thinking about whats coming next before we have even secured the ball. He basically said we need to start thinking for ourselves. how concerning is that admission.

Wallabies expose Sonny Bill in All Black wake-up call

SBW was better then carter. Plenty of people are sticking up for him.
