Yes Australia needs more hoopers and pococks, but not at the expense of the next generation. I don’t agree that he’s not an inspirational captain, you can’t fault his effort and passion when on the field, he just isn’t in the same league as the other possible or past captains, and isn’t even close to pocock as a 7. A perfect comparable example is Phil Waugh. An amazing player and inspiration captain, who played off the bench for most of his wallabies career because George Smith was better. Perhaps we need Rod McQueen back to coach our coaches and RA board members on team selection and contract negotiations.
