The thing about administrations is that they give you a chance with a clean slate.

But I am with others. No decision means decision made. It’s a competitive world for the talent and whilst they are playing out the season they will be desperately trying to secure their own futures.

Its every man for himself.

I felt the Wallabies were hard done by at the breakdowns which is where the game I was won.

Take a look at the fetchers from Fiji. On almost every occassion the Fijian places his hands on the ground before reaching for the ball.

I thought the TMO missed a card against a Fijian about 10 minutes from the death. No arm tackle with contact to the head.

We d it don’t play well and Gordon was probably at the centre of that. He was way off his game.

The largest portion of head knocks is to the tackler not positioning himself correctly and putting his head where it should not be.

Defenders with bad tacking style need to be penalised as well. Ones that are knocked out because they put their head front of a players knees should not be able to be replaced.

Your initial premise is incorrect. Rather than taking years to manufacture Vaccines. Governments are punting on many of the vaccine candidates and manufacturing them now so they are ready to go as soon as approvals come through.

Australian football codes have no option but to focus on their own backyard

Firstly changing the board is no enough. The constitution must be change to make the board accountable.

Mention of the West is interesting. Definitely agree and they have a something that rugby needs. A benign benefactor in the form of Twiggy Forest he has more money than Croesus and is not just in it for the money.

I posted this on an other string. Substitute Twiggy got private investor and you have a ready made solution.

How about something totally different. We bring in a private equity partner in to produce the game coverage and RA start’s its own rugby streaming service. Or use youtube for paid channels for distribution. The global platform is there waiting to be used.So $5 a month from one million rugby fans plus advertising revenues might be a good start. Premium in World Cup Lions years. We can work with FTA as well and provide them product as well.If we can’t support our game by subscribing it isn’t worth preserving. Its a model rugby could use all over the world.

Right then Australian rugby, let’s get on with things, shall we?

I never lost faith and always felt JOC was the most talented footballer in Australia. One game sticks in my mind when he single handedly dismantled England A in a mid week match for the Australia A side.

I think that Australian Rugby was a much to blame for JOC’s early problems.

Great to see him back and realising on his talent. I am really excited to see the Wallabies again and will not be missing any Reds games.

Is red card-mania ruining the Rugby World Cup?

No knock on. Nothing to see here.

Were Wales lucky not to get a yellow card for deliberate knock down?

Lies, dam lies and statistics.

JOC should be 12. Looked better there. Can put players away. Fabulous hands great passing.

Still the most talented player in the team,

Wallabies DIY Player Ratings versus Fiji: The results

Thank you for this great analysis straight out of moneyball.

I do wonder about the Wallabies and their ability to read a game. They definitely had the wrong tactics on a wet track. The ABs on the other hand just love to apply pressure and they certainly won the battle on the 3 most important measures.

When I watch young Australians play colts and under I am always surprised by their lack of tactical nouse. Knowing when to kick, when to run and when to pass. We seem to take a hairy chested approach that we would rather bash up the field 60 metres and turn the ball over than kick the ball into the corner and make the opposition fight their way out.

What really wins rugby matches?

Geez. Can commentators get this right please. He is not suing for unfair dismissal. He is suing for unlawful dismissal. There is a significant distinction between these not least of which is that unlawful dismissal shifts the burden of proof to the defendant i.e. RA must prove that Folau’s religion did not come into its decision making process.

Israel Folau begins court action against Rugby AU and Waratahs

I am just loving the fact he said he wanted a hard game but not that hard. Randwick won’t have played for 6 weeks as they aren’t in the finals. Not quite at the level of the 1988 team.

Johnson-Holmes reveals hilarious Wallabies phone call moment that would make any Aussie proud

Nice observation without suggesting a solution.

As a casual observer you would not be aware of just how well the club competition in Sydney is going (can’t comment on other locations). Even the FTA ratings are heading in the right direction. All built of the back of relevance. Super Rugby is just not relevant. Its nice when your team is winning but even the rusted on supporters are staring away (me included). I may not even go to a Wallabies match this year. I used to travel interest to watch them.

When I lost a game I used to be despondent and I know my team mates were the same albeit at different levels. But for the professionals it’s just another game win lose or draw. The desire and passion is gone and the fans can sense it. It’s there in Origin. I watch Origin because it is going to be talked about. Cant say the same for the Wallabies or Supe Rugby.

The Don Quixote’s at RA spend too much time trying to be liked and tilting at every feel goo cause possible. They shouldn’t be called the Qantas Wallabies but the feel good Wallabies and who wants to support that team?

The Wallabies could do with a case of the Blues

Frankly I find your column offensive and probably in breach of the RA code of conduct and quite possibly the NFL code of conduct.

Nevertheless I would fight for your right to say what you wish in the same way I support Folau.

This whole issue is not just of Folau’s making. He is merely a catalyst for those who make a career out of being outraged and are just itching for a fight.

Our society is losing its ability tolerate those that are different. We are losing our empathy and view only through our own prism. Folau’s prism is at least one of love. He is trying to save people.

I can guarantee you one thing about heaven and hell, you will only truely know the answer when you die. No amount of argument will change that.

So how about you start being accepting of others. They could just be right.

The thing no one wants to say about Israel Folau

Your comments on Hate here are way out of line and so far from the truth that you demonstrate a high level of ignorance on such matters.

Israel is trying to save the souls of people. He does not want them to go to hell but wants to save them from that outcome.

Your description of this as Hate is akin to a person that said to a stranger “don’t step in front of that bus” and then retelling the story as he said “jump under the bus”.

Israel Folau has Li e for everyone and he does not want to see them suffering in hell. His view is that some suffering on earth for a short time is better than an eternity of hell and damnation.

Izzy, you're a complete...

You make a good point on players ages. Bones don’t really start to harden until kids have finished growing i.e up to early 20’s.

My view on JOC is 13. Outside Kerevi. Kerevi stunning hard off Quade would be a nightmare for defences because Quade would put him through plenty off half gaps which he would turn into line breaks.
Then you would have some smarts outside that can read the play and take advantage of opportunities.

As for Maddocks, agree to disagree. Let’s see how he goes.

Where will the Wallaby selectors play Folau and Beale?

I actually thought Maddocks did quite well first up on the international scene. He is one of those players who like good wine will just get better with age.

Where will the Wallaby selectors play Folau and Beale?

I think you make a god point. Remember Campo preferred 10 and fullback. But he played his best football on the wing.

Beale like Campo of not a conventional winger but could be a real point of difference there. Just like Campo.

Folau doesn’t make my team. I think his shortcomings hold the team back. Sure he is great with the ball. But his ability to read the game in either attack or defence is sadly not up to scratch. We need a champion team not a team of champions.

I have been a big Foley supporter but for my money Quade is the man. This could really be his year.

Watching a lot of the Northern Hemisphere games there seems to be a return to the crash ball type 12 with a ball playing 13. Kerevi is my man at 12 and a fit Petaia would be a wonderful 13. James O’Connor would fit that mould. Still one of the most complete footballers I have seen and now bigger and stronger than ever. Can someone throw him an end of season contract please?

Maddocks is Australia’s answer to Reiko Ioane. He is getting better with every game and again has a full set of skills. Definitely one of my wingers. Watching the Northern Hemisphere games there wingers all come with that full set of skills.

I think we can all agree Genia gets the 9 guernsey based on current form That leaves fullback. I’m not convinced on anyone for this position yet except that Folau is not the answer for me. The way Banks hits the line and knows where his supports are probably puts his nose in front of DHP who is equally well balanced. I think that is one of my problems with Folau actually once he breaks the line he scores a few but leaves too much on the table by not looking for the support of better positioned players.

I really like Hodge but utility is probably where he is going to fit at least for this season. If English is playing well enough to keep hodge on the bench surely he needs some consideration for backline positions or at least to be on the bench.

Just a note here on style of play. Because I think we need to pick players that can play a winning style of play. We need to put players into gaps and we need players who can run into gaps. Quade us doing a wonderful job showing how to do the former and showing his teammates how to execute on the latter.

There are some simple statistics on tries. The vast majority 60-70% come within 4 phases. Why is that? Well from set piece there are more gaps in defence. with only 7 players covering the majority of the field in defence not 14 (+1 at the back). On turnovers the defence is scrambling which present opportunities to be picked off.

To take advantage of this we have to be alert of the opportunity at the set piece and turnover and ensure we have the plays to break defences early. I see to many wasted opportunities at set piece especially when we are content to just run into contact.

If we don’t score within 4 or 5 phases we have wasted the pill and are more unlikely to score with each phase in which case we should look for territory with well supported well directed kicks. These kick can result in turnovers or set piece opportunities.

Well that my 2 bobs worth for the moment.

Oh and everyone has to be able to tackle. Quade’s one big work on.

Where will the Wallaby selectors play Folau and Beale?

If this were true there wouldn’t be laws preventing it as it would not be endemic. League players are the most under scrutiny and hence more likely to get found out.

Sorry Gus, sex tapes are a rugby league problem
