What I don’t understand with super rugby being such a short season why they don’t have a short single round domestic super rugby competition leading into cross border or after cross border super rugby competition with say Fiji included. Surely that would get much needed revenue but lower costs as not paying extra wages. The squad players could surely cover the wallabies who can’t play..ok may need to recruit some extra club players but still.

From World Cup glory to a financial precipice. Where did the $48 million go?

Yep I would have lsl in wallabies squad

The five Aussie young guns who should be celebrated - and the one who is ready for the Wallabies

Fraur questions on Cale but he certainly has lit up super rugby and for that he deserves praise. He may or may not be test material but that is a question to be answered rather then confirmed either way.

He has been a joyto watch as a fan at super rugby level though.

Yeh cale special…I don’t think ready for wallabies 23 but I would put him in the wallabies squad to get him in the environment this year to fast track him..heck probably could make a game in the 23 for end of year tour on rotation.

Well if you read the daily newspapers you would think rugby already is extinct

The insurmountable problem facing Australian rugby in a doomed rivalry with New Zealand

Yep nz is better at rugby but we already only have 5 teams in competition with them that struggles for relevance against the ever growing footprint of nrl. AFL and a-league.

Nz can’t expand teams due to small country / market so the answer has to be..over to the zillion different pundits views to fill the vacuum on this due to the fact nzru and RA clearly don’t have answers or answers willing to consider because of agendas outside of solely making super rugby the best product it can be for the fans across the asia pacific.

How has Irae Simone been tracking

Exclusive: Wallabies star weighing up big move to England

Oz super rugby sides already have had too many players of club rather than pro level so good luck getting any eyeballs with Shute shield type quality games.

We need to improve the quality of our pro domestic competition not diminish it. We just unfortunately rely on collaborating with Nzru for super rugby which has proven both can’t work together to create the best competition for fans vs it serving their own agendas outside of what is best for super rugby and its fans.

Exclusive: Wallabies star weighing up big move to England

So we are looking at one off windfalls of RWC and lions tour to clear the debts but already the supposed war chest these events were meant to create looks diminished. But moreso with current expenditures in excess of revenue and hence the need to draw down on debt, how can we be confident the windfalls from these events won’t be frittered away.

Rugby Australia's debts blow out to almost $89 million after draw-down of PEP facility

Kiwi results went there way but reds lost that one as did force…as reds hold their mettle and Donaldson kicks the easy penalty as opposed to missing it we have three Oz wins and two kiwi losses.

Game of small margins…

Brumbies knock over Hurricanes in statement win as Wright shines again behind forward pack

Others pointed out been major changes I. Assistant coaches anf changes this brings (eg mowen employing new rush defence).

I think hence unfair to just put this on larkham and with bee coaches and new strategies takes time and hence probably explaining some of the mixed brumbies performances this year.

One of best games seen wright play…he has to be lock for wallaby fullback

Brumbies knock over Hurricanes in statement win as Wright shines again behind forward pack

Yep luckyphil I want 5 oz super rugby teams but not at expense of financial insanity…

I think the revised proposal could work if we had a better super rugby competition but that is the problem that with the latter we don’t have…add to that poor oversight and incompetence by RA and others…

I am almost getting to the point of not caring as I don’t see national bodies of nzru and RA as interested to focus on fixing super rugby with bold ideas (only those have a chance to revive something on life support) which means we just will see more financial solvency issues for oz super rugby sides…brumbies, tahs etc

UPDATE: RA say they were blindsided over Rebels' finances, reject private consortium claim as administrator backs club's survival

This seems the failing of the investor group that their proposal for accepting of the DOCA is they will fund litigation against RA who have to issue the licence if DOCA to succeed.

So basically no chance of RA agreeing to issue the licence if this means it allows the investor group to pursue litigation against RA. What am I missing?

Yep having Carter, Beale and roddha in the team made lot of difference as lot of calming experience in their

Beale, Rodda shine on Super Rugby return as Force smash Crusaders to keep finals hopes alive

I am somewhat concerned on Brumbies performances against chiefs and now blues as on paper the quality of the side should never been hammered the way they have been.

Coaching issues, new systems or just plain player underperforming…don’t know but this is not the brumbies I know

Brumbies 'systematically taken apart by the Blues' in 'non-contest' as Larkham's men cop huge reality check

I am talking from a low bar that reds could be competitive against kiwi sides.
I still think the signs are there despite the blips mentioned. I don’t think Rome built in A day but reckon reds showing signs of heading in better direction.

'Like a Scud missile': World Cup reject leads rout, but Reds suffer fresh blow with Petaia's season in jeopardy

Noah, Gordon and Donaldson for me the 10s for wallabies.

'Like a Scud missile': World Cup reject leads rout, but Reds suffer fresh blow with Petaia's season in jeopardy

Harry Wilson good super rugby player but hard to ever see him be more than that. Don’t see him destined for a wallabies squad. Equally don’t want this to sound critical as good super rugby players are highly valuable and he is valuable cog for the reds team.

How much did we enjoy the highlander nil score

'Like a Scud missile': World Cup reject leads rout, but Reds suffer fresh blow with Petaia's season in jeopardy

I don’t get this as Petaia having a great season…lot of other players are too but he definitely was a wallaby squad candidate.

I don’t get the Petaia haters as he always has been good but moreso seeing best of him this season before his injury.

'Like a Scud missile': World Cup reject leads rout, but Reds suffer fresh blow with Petaia's season in jeopardy

Paisami in wallabies squad for mine…won’t discount him for being in 23 players game day. He is definitely in the mix.

'Like a Scud missile': World Cup reject leads rout, but Reds suffer fresh blow with Petaia's season in jeopardy

Every oz super rugby team should consider highlanders a team they can beat…saids something about highlanders but in fairness also about improvement in overall quality of oz super rugby teams this season

'Like a Scud missile': World Cup reject leads rout, but Reds suffer fresh blow with Petaia's season in jeopardy

I have more belief in reds than others as I feel despite the blips in recent weeks coaching and depth wise reds something special this season and developing into a long term great team.

Hence always felt they would win against highlanders. Petaia injury a blow and yes starts to stretch backline stocks with Henry, Flook and now Petaia out for the season. But I think they could still be ok to still be a top 4 contender. If feel reds heading for new dynasty under Les Kiss so time to believe I reckon and this is from a tahs fan!

'Like a Scud missile': World Cup reject leads rout, but Reds suffer fresh blow with Petaia's season in jeopardy

Gees poor reds crowd tonight which was bit underserving imho..

I do believe reds heading in right direction to be one of top two oz super rugby sides
