Buddy he was playing a 7-8th ranked side in world rugby. One would hope he could pull out a good game.

'We would like him back': Razor plotting to bring back Richie as NZR open up on eligiblity, Sio staying put

Why don’t you criticize every other member of the team like you hate on RM then. What a joke!

I think you are understating the value of the Chiefs forward pack. DMac cannot operate effectively without these boys doing their business and they are. Mind you so are the Canes and the Blues atm.

Sounds like RM must have side stepped you a few too many times and caused a slight loss of focus Jacko.

I think you are understating the ability of RM and for some reason fail to see his real abilities. He was and still is one of the most gifted 5/8s in the game. He shredded the Boks defence in that final in a move that left defenders grasping. Don’t blame that loss on RM. His sense of an opportunity presenting itself is second to none. While D’Mac is a probably a better open field runner when it comes off, he is also prone to getting nailed when it doesn’t come off. The older he gets means those hits will eventually cause issues for his frame. RM scan show more patience and maturity in his play selections and when he does go his quick feet are unique and often leads to a score.

What value is a prop when he’s not up to International standard. Minimise scrum damage, Dono can handle 10. Move Marky back to fullback with a roving commission and bring in Pietschy. Can handle multiple positions. CG on the bench. Just a thought.

Wallabies young gun's RWC over ahead of do-or-die Test, intrigue over replacement as Ikitau returns for BaaBaas

Have to agree to a certain extent. CG was on the back foot most of the game. Why why why? because apart from line outs the forwards weren’t making the gain line where CG had options to attack with some creativity. Scrums were a mess and against Wales it will be more of the same without Tupou. While Serevi is the nest IC in the world according to Gits (not me) he is very predictable and easy to stop with good defenders. His cousins stopped him in this game. One less source of attack gonsky. Need a Samu type player to get over the ball.

Props are not up to international rugby. Use what you have and try and limit the damage and focus on areas you can seriously improve on, like over the ball stuff and line gains. SAMU

You under estimate Pietsch. If he was to come and I’m not thinking another winger is needed he can cover centre, fullback and No 7. Bloody good breakaway once upon a while.

Front row is the weakest link. No matter who comes over won’t make an ounce of different if he’s a prop.

I think the question around character is more around the coach given the blatant BS about non selection of certain players due to injury concerns and then taking players carrying injuries. Starts and finishes with the coach. His messaging is woeful!

Well said on all counts!

Have to respond and suggest how badly sportsman are treated on the field in Oz. NZ doesn’t have a mortgage on that behaviour buddy.

'Courage and desire': Heroic Brumbies deny Ardie to beat Hurricanes to set up semi-final showdown with Chiefs

You must really love rugby to talk crap like that when its played at the highest level. All Blacks bleed like everyone else but their incredible winning stats is what really troubles you. LS won’t change that. Pick a rugby player first and if he develops a hit man rep he did it as a rugby player not a dumb arse. I would love to see LS become a rugby player. He’s built for it just not sure about the skill levels and top 3 inches.

'You're hurting the team': The brutal truth given to Swinton as Tahs back Wallaby for World Cup

Donaldson will not panic and reads the game. Maybe light in defence as is NL. I like NL even more with SL coaching him but he still hasn’t matured as expected. Carter Gordon hasn’t been up against a full SR NZ side with all first starters on board yet. In fact most Aussie sides have been playing the 2nd stringers from over the ditch.

WW that is absolute rubbish.

A classic blunder once again. Eddie arrives and RA spend up large on a very talented young athlete. Eddie’s salary plus Sua’ali’i package must be massive. You cannot improve the game here by spending big at the top end without some serious investment at grassroots. I get how starved we are of a serious Wallabies team currently sitting at 7th on WR list. But this is not a good look for the west. West Sydney has a huge Polynesian population. We have West Harbour and Two Blues making some serious statements in Shute Shield. How about investing in the area and bring back Penrith with some investment. You might just find some young blokes with serious talent who could be developed with sound coaching etc. I agree with the Cheese, it’ll take more than one player to change the results.

The Folau Factor: Why Rugby Australia have gone all-in on Suaalii

‘DAP’s stapled together with misguided aggression and poor execution. There is a fine line between them. Most teams are guilty of them but some can adjust and refocus very quickly. A team having to deal with multiple losses will often press the aggression switch in the belief that is the answer to achieving the ‘W’. Darcy Swain a classic example of aggression gone wrong. A fiery little No 9 Nic White a divisive character at times but a decent No 9 at other times. He should cut out the swan dives and niggle crap. It fires up the efforts of the opposition and just causes his big boys to get involved in defending the little guy resulting in a loss of concentration leading into the next phase of play. ‘DAB’ dumb arse behaviour added to ‘DAP’ frustration on frustration.
He’s been around a while but shows such a lack of maturity at times. Please focus on the skill set and how you can best add value to this team. So many issues this team can do without. Michael Hooper goes about his work without any of this crap because he is so focused on doing his best for the team but let down by ‘DAB’

It's time the Wallabies learnt the value of discipline

Not everybody buddy!

Donaldson daring to dream after surprise Wallabies call-up

I won’t compare Donaldson to the others as they are all quality rugby players. What Donaldson has is a calm head and great vision that many with more experience take years to develop. I’ve watched this kid develop as I have others over a number of years and he has impressed with his silky skills highlighted by a great set of hands. His vision to make calls to firstly set up his backline is probably what impresses me most. Yes an old head on young shoulders. Stick with him and he will keep improving in the right environment. Rennie has made a good call with him and no doubt recognises the quality and potential on offer.

Well said

Disagree PM the players are all of high class. Since Hansen ran out of ideas and by default our current head coach the players are being fed stale oats and having to rely on pure ability. That just isn’t working anymore. Haven’t seen a different tactic since Foster took over. Sad but true.

My very early All Blacks World Cup squad

Great comments and agree with most selections. My fear is that the head coach has changed nothing evidenced by on field performances. These are a very talented group of players however when rush defences bash them their options are poor or at least poorly executed. Remember most rush defences have strategies to cover the options thrown at them. So that leaves forward options. Not much has changed from the old ‘earn the right to go wide first’ strategy and that is our current archilles heel. Whether it be a panic approach because all else fails or a captain’s call the pick and go is still a game changer when executed well as it presents so many options. Do our forwards have the will and ability to do this? Of course they do but to read the timing and execute the best outcome is the key. Aaron Smith is the best reader and conveyor of this approach and he needs to be there and his co-halves need to be on the same page not looking about like headless chooks waiting for the forwards to finally give up the ball and the opposition have reformed their defensive line. The options should already be formed in their brains without having to stand erect and inspect the bloody field. I, like others fear that the head coach is scrambling for options when the answers are under his nose.

My very early All Blacks World Cup squad

Great article but I would make the comment that to flood the ruck or at least gain parity the set plays in particular scrums have to be on par and overall they are not. Having a back rower and physical back able to get to the breakdown before the opposition can set their ruck is bloody hard coming from a defensive scrum. Not only do the opposition know their target area but the defense will generally be running a defensive line to the next phase. The gain line defense therefore becomes the real crisis area. The kiwis hit that line hard either via a small gap, straight running or using a smart passing game. It’s a basic approach but is what is missing in Aussie rugby. Reds have the set play and talking up Paisami may have benefits but he’s a lone soldier in that backline and without him they will leak tries. Brumbies improving and better balanced and have a real chance but limited depth. The rest, well apart from the Force at home best left unsaid.

Two easy changes to be competitive against the Kiwis

Viewers want a better product. TV packages for two tier comp. Initially 10 teams compete on a round robin basis. Top 5 play off etc promotion relegation. Following year introduce 2 more teams same again. Back yourselves to perform. Just a thought from a spectators view.
