mate I was talking about for when the Wallabies play them.

Samoa next, but Ireland eye Wallabies

jeez Ireland are a staunch bunch arent they? there is no doubt in my mind they will try and do the choke tackle like they did in the world cup so i hope that Link focuses the whole week on body height?

mate in my eyes the professional era has negated size. All of these players now spend so much time in the gym that for mine it negates size. A well balanced smaller bloke could easily get the upper hand of a big cumbersome bloke. so I do agree with you on that one.

Does size really matter in rugby?

David another great read mate. gee what id do to see some of those players in the professional era?

Listen I know my idea was radical but im so delighted that it got this conversation and even more creative juices flowing here amongst fellow roarers. For mine I feel as if we are pioneers of sporting fans in a digital age where we CAN have a say and with the influx of the youth and the digital natives I reckon the fans will have just as much say as a coach in a bizarre way?

Look thats your opinion mate and I encourage any sort of debate on here. after all this is a site for opinions? isnt it?

Theirs no doubt in my my mind that it is a controversial idea that will come with a lot of naysayers but ive been involved with the game for going on 33 years and when youve been in the game as long as me you need to try new things to out smart the opposition. Ive seen Matty Toomua win plenty of turnover pill and knock many blocks double the size of him backwards. Listen he is tenacious and clearly plays like hoops with a large heart. Im not saying he would be the complete player but you certainly wouldnt mind a player of his caliber running around on a dry track with both gill and hoops in tandem.

Liam Gill gets a run - at last

No mate I know your not insulting me. This old bugger has tough skin dont you worry about that one. Look, I enjoy being controversial in my opinion and thinking outside the box because it encourages others to engage and have a real good brain storm on the real possibilities on how union could be played. I understand your quams about toomua at 6 but you cant possibly know if you dont try?

Well there you go Brandon. It is possible to successfully transform into a back rower then. Oh look, Toomua is still young and would have plenty of time and could learn off pocock and hoops.

Like I mentioned before, matty toomua has the ability and size of a Hooper and we all know how well he has done so far (John Eales medal winner enough said). In my mind he wouldnt play as a flanker as such, but more of a hybrid back that mingles with the forwards and helps out where needed. You can never have enough playmakers in your side and in reality you could have Beale, Cooper, Toomua, Harris, O’connor, Lealeafiano and Foley all on at the same time with Barnes (who hopefully recovers) awaiting from the bench? Look, I was taught from a young age that rugby is a physical game as much as it is a mental one and in my view you cant go wrong with having smart players in your side who are able to manipulate the opposition. The Wallabies have always been known as a smart team because of this reason.

Im all for it, actually. If you dont try new things then you will never learn and I know it is a cliche for the Wallabies but it really is a learning experience? Listen, a team is continuously evolving and in my view it is good that the Wallabies arent conforming to “”set positions’.

Wallaby Simmons aims to surprise at flanker

look, in my view he adds plenty at blindside that many others just cant. Simmo in the Australian rugby circles is undeniably recognized as one of the best locks come lineout time? no back rower will match him in that department. he is also one of Australian rugbys best when it comes time to cleaning rucks and protecting ball. He has plenty of gas in the mongrel department. Link knows italy is a very set piece based team and in my eyes he recognizes Simmo as a great set piece player. It isnt rocket science?

But they still haven’t beaten the boks in 13 or so games.

England eye 2nd spot on IRB rankings

Mate that is your opinion and I can respect that one. Im all for experimentation especially against weaker sides like Italy?
