Which source/metric are you using, may I ask?

According to the AFL website, the Blues are ranked 14th for total tackles with 307, whilst the Bombers are ranked 1st with 423

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions: Round 7

Literally every other player who requested a trade this year to Essendon got there apart from Dunkley, and every player who requested a trade out of Essendon got to their requested destination (yes, it took a lot longer than it maybe should have, but they got there).
But go off I guess . . .

AFL trades 2020 report card: Every club graded

Just out of interest, what would have you done if you were in charge of Essendon’s Trade Period?

I don’t know why you keep bringing up Geelong in your arguments; they’re at two completely ends of development (and the ladder).

As I said previously, both teams were correct in what they requested and how they dealt with it.

The annoying thing is that at this rate you’re not even wrong 😂

Six talking points from AFL Round 14

mmmmm nah Brisbane are at least 100x more interesting than the Dees.

The only players who get me excited about Melbourne are Petracca and Pickett. That’s it.

Brisbane? They have Cameron and Neale for starters. Plus Robinson who oozes personality. I could list off more.

So yeah, I’d take a Brisbane match over a Melbourne match any day of the week.

FROM 2020: 'No flag this year, but Melbourne are back on track'

No one remembers 2nd place except for the person who finished 2nd and their followers.

Collingwood 2020 versus Collingwood 2018: A devolution

I’d usually have a go at you for snarkily saying Collingwood losing to Essendon is embarrassing, but for the sake of this argument I’ll let it slide 😛

Another valid point, WASS.
Regardless, I don’t think Essendon would, or should, lose days of sleep over it. They’ll review the tapes, and then turn their attention to Sunday

Six talking points from AFL Round 7

Yep, we were right in it until perhaps the last 5 minutes of the second quarter-onwards. The third quarter especially killed it for us; a fate that numerous other teams have experienced this year so far.

Valid point, Peter. Essendon shouldn’t have to depend on Shiel so much, however if you take away a player of his calibre (considering this season), it is obviously going to have an effect.
I’d also say Essendon has suffered their own problems (Stringer and Heppell, while Daniher can be included in that group as well), so I’d say we had been dealing without them fairly well. However, Friday night we were well and truly beaten.

Six talking points from AFL Round 7

Although the loss against the Bulldogs did not make for pretty viewing, I’m not too worried about where the Bombers are at the moment. The loss of Shiel really hurt us in terms of clearances and the Bulldogs have been our bogey team for quite some time. If this seems like I’m giving excuses, then so be it. Yes, we have things to work on and certainly improve, but I think the Bombers will go over it the tape, then forget about the game and move on.
However, I’m interested to see whether there is any change in terms of the ruck; Phillips has been handy, however he got towelled by English. Personally I wouldn’t mind seeing Draper given a run at it (seems to be more mobile and offers more than Bellchambers), especially when we face Adelaide this coming week.
I’m not counting out Essendon just yet; is it optimistic? Perhaps, however I certainly think we can at least get close to finals contention.

Is McKenna out? I thought he was named for today

Essendon vs Western Bulldogs: Friday night forecast

I think he may be on the outer currently; he’s not injured, since he played in the scratch match last week.
I hope McKernan can have a blinder tonight; he’s an enigma and he’s had his moments in games but not consistently. Laverde is doing ok but would like some more from him too.

Bulldogs being favourites also intrigues me, but doesn’t overly surprise me.

Essendon vs Western Bulldogs: Friday night forecast

I think given the absence of some of the Bulldogs’ main forwards, Essendon can probably afford to drop Hooker forward, especially considering the impressive form of Ridley as of late.
Hoping for an Essendon win, but our record against the Bulldogs isn’t great, so wouldn’t be surprised if they got up today.
As you said, it probably depends most on which Bulldogs team shows up tonight (which is a phrase that has, ironically, been associated with Essendon in recent years).

Essendon vs Western Bulldogs: Friday night forecast

admittedly the injury list last year was astronomical 😂
not that this year’s is any better ;-;

hehehe, “black and white” . . .

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions: Round 7

No we won’t 😛
If Dodoro’s form from past years are anything to go by, giving Hooker up is a pipedream

Facing their lowest ebb in some time, Swans must get creative

I mean I have no issues with being proven wrong, but as of right now, the Tigers are nowhere near it. That’s all I’m saying.

AFL Power Rankings 2020: Round 6

Will be a fascinating game indeed, looking forward to it!

Six talking points from AFL Round 6

I’d say the win against Collingwood proved at least a little bit, pablo.
Yes, I do not believe we are in the premiership conversation, nor do I think we should be at this moment in time, but at the very least we are tracking a lot better than most expected, and I’d argue we’re tracking an awful lot better than the Tigers.
Of course, this is subject to change; it is a crazy season as you’ve said. But right now, the Bombers are doing fine.

AFL Power Rankings 2020: Round 6

With a final score of 4.10 and going goalless in 2 quarters? Yeah, not quite worried about the Tigers yet.

AFL Power Rankings 2020: Round 6

With McKenna coming out of the side due to a broken finger, I think Redman will slot back in.

Six talking points from AFL Round 6

That’s a fair assessment, Macca. I mean, it is working a treat so far for us, but I can concede that at times it doesn’t make for pleasant viewing.
Hopefully we can increase the input, for sure.
Great win from your boys tonight btw!

Six talking points from AFL Round 6

I agree with this take, although I’m personally not sure if Essendon “starve teams out”; apart from perhaps Round 1 against Fremantle, I don’t think we have starved teams out by kicking away and then suffocating them per say.
I’d say the reason we are scoring so low is because genuinely don’t have a forward line; when you have Shaun “The Enigma” McKernan headlining your forward line don’t expect too many high scores.
I agree that there should be a shift, but for Essendon’s case it would be because they can’t really score, instead of a lack of wanting to score.
