‘Is this a defining moment in the death of Test cricket’: Steve's right to be on Waughpath over pathetic Proteas squad

to support b :
1)why did haris rauf declined to play tests.
2)why did Quinton de cock retired from test cricket very early in his career that too when he was a leading cricketer in the world.
3)no one was attending test matches in Pakistan, hence PCB allowed free entry to the stadiums. but still no one cared to go to stadium to watch their team play in front of them after a long decade. does anyone know about this.
4)South Africa loses money from their coffers every time they host test matches other than India because there are not enough people watching it. even when they host Aus/Eng for Tests, they are losing money.

‘Is this a defining moment in the death of Test cricket’: Steve's right to be on Waughpath over pathetic Proteas squad

can you do some numbers on the crowd for test matches in Bangladesh, west indies, Bangladesh, Pakistan, New Zealand and south africa

‘Is this a defining moment in the death of Test cricket’: Steve's right to be on Waughpath over pathetic Proteas squad

since everyone remembers test cricket so well, can anyone name the player of the match/top scorer of the last test that New Zealand played without looking at scorecard.

can u mention something outside of Australia/England and Ashes to make your point. people talk as if Ashes is the messiah of all sports. but in reality it is not for 10 other test playing nations and it is just a bilateral test series between two nations.

Everyone needs to pull their heads out of the sand. on what basis Steve Smith is mentioned in this column. his numbers are just pathetic in T20I’s. they read 25 avg and 125 strike rate.

Warner is an all-time great - but he’s not Australia’s best ever multi-format player

also not the current best user of sandpaper in the world

An ode to Virat Kohli

and also he is not the current best cheater

An ode to Virat Kohli

but best of all time in ODI and international t20

An ode to Virat Kohli

not only maxwell, steve smith too.

In Marsh We Trust: Mitch keeps Australia at the top of the T20 rankings

30 and 130 is too high. 20 and 125 would be ideal. or we need to decide what would be ideal

thanks for the information JGK! 😊
I dont see what is wrong in that. just because he is not a well known player around the world doesnt make him any less. that shows that he is as good as any and an underrated player.
and also from that list you can have minimum criteria like minimum average 30 or minimum strike rate 130 and drop those who dont.

Steve Smith vs Virat Kohli: Cricket's biggest rivalry

if they can beat india 4-0 and then here in ashes 4-0, then can come close to that ranking. But even that will be a dream.

Joe Root believes England can be the number one Test team

take some time mate. we will get back to it later. in the meanwhile let JGK come up with the numbers.

Steve Smith vs Virat Kohli: Cricket's biggest rivalry

okay, did u find players with the above criteria who average 10, strike rate 120 and average 40, strike rate 80 and scored more than 680 runs

Steve Smith vs Virat Kohli: Cricket's biggest rivalry

how can there be a player who scored more than 680 runs, average 10 and strikes at 120. similarly who strikes at 80 and average at 40? can u show some examples. there will be none. u can try.

Steve Smith vs Virat Kohli: Cricket's biggest rivalry

he might be guilty now after he was proven wrong.

Steve Smith vs Virat Kohli: Cricket's biggest rivalry

nah! that ipl is useless. it is a domestic league and not in the same league as internationals. by the way since u are so fond of it, lets talk. I dig up some stats. there is one important player who missed because of that math. it is rishab pant. strike rate is 162. average is 36. so u should combine average and strike rate to get correct picture.

Steve Smith vs Virat Kohli: Cricket's biggest rivalry

we are both on the same page here. average is meaningless. that is why u should add both average and strike rate. if u look at them seperately it will go wrong. combining them gives us clear picture

Steve Smith vs Virat Kohli: Cricket's biggest rivalry

i told u not to divide strike rate and average in t20. i will show u where the flaw is. with what u did there babar azam missed out in that 27 list because his strike rate is 128. this one example proves that.

Steve Smith vs Virat Kohli: Cricket's biggest rivalry

then who will make centuries at number 5. you told that is the issue with our current australian side. if he can make centuries at 5, that will solve the issue right? are u not confident of him making centuries at 5.

Steve Smith vs Virat Kohli: Cricket's biggest rivalry

i think u got the math wrong there. in t20i, we cant divide strike rate and average and see them seperately. they are so inseparable. you have to combine average and strike rate and then see. in this case it will be 159+ and 650+ runs. can u do that.

Steve Smith vs Virat Kohli: Cricket's biggest rivalry

correct mate. but we have to live with what we have.

Steve Smith vs Virat Kohli: Cricket's biggest rivalry

can u do the same math in t20i mate. that would be helpful

Steve Smith vs Virat Kohli: Cricket's biggest rivalry

can we take this some other time mate. there is a test match about to start. there is $150 dollars involved in it. i placed my bet on england. hoping for the best!
