Good to see Josh Inglish getting the central contract. He should be a permanent member of the ODI squad, if they want to win the next world cup. There is huge gap in the current middle order. Time by time, they continue to fail. I dnt have stats, since 2015 world cup, I didnt see any quality middle order batsman who can prevent a collapse. Albeit Alex Carey, and recently Cameron green rescued from some collapse, Inglish can make number four his permanent spot.

I would still take him as a bowling all rounder playing at 7/8, making good runs at the back ends. If he can do this consistently. But solely on his bowling, I will hold onto my words.

you didnt get the point, did you? ok let me explain again.
These player can bat at above 180 strike rate from 41 to 50 overs. But the problem with maxwell is, if he comes to bat from 20 over, when the chips are down, it doesnt matter about your strike rate. You have to build the innings. That Maxwell has done in the past, at the beginning of his carrier.
But now whenever Maxwell comes to bat, he is very much unreliable. He always throws his wicket. Always obsessed with his reverse sweep. You shouldnt get out scoring 20 of 12. This score may inflate your strike rate. But you will never gonna win anything.
If Maxwell play on 2023 wold cup based on reputation rather than performance, we are screwed for sure.

i can name a few at international cricket. For example, Butler, Miller, Pandya, Jimmy Neesham and even Stokes. All can play better than Maxwell at any stage of the game.
These player can hold the innings or strike the ball as hard as can possible. Unlike maxwell who has only one gear.
If you want to be champion in next world cup, better move on from maxwell and find another player.
There is glimpse of hope in Green. He showed his class in NZ. He can be the finished we all want.

Apart from the NZ series, Abott is a below par bowler at the international level. I’ve seen him at the BBL, he gets thrashed everytime he bowls. Only time he gets wicket, when batsman give him. It’s like he is not earning wicket.
I’m not a huge fan of maxwell either. Every good team has a player at the back end, who can stabilise the innings or can bat at 200 strike rate. Maxwel with his poor form, well past beyond his best. Only one shot he can play and gets out everytime playing it. And at the big stage like ICC tournament, he always fails. We need to move on from Maxwell. Find new player who has cool head, doesnt want to give his wicket away.

England played as good as we want australia to play. After the 2015 worldcup group exit, the revolution in their cricket brought them here. No fame game, not a single player played for their reputation. Everyone is a performer and well on form.
But after 2015, there is a clear decline for Australia. Couldnt match with the poms since then in ODIs and T20s.

I dnt know what Goerge Bailey done enough to be the selector of one of the most prestigious cricket team. He was a mediocre player at his best.
He averaged like 100 against india tour series. Then his batting technique faltered like house of cards. I still remember his ugly stance.

I dnt know how Stoinis is selected every time. He doesnt bowl well. Every 5 innings after he plays like 30 to 40 runs then again retain his place. His ODI average dropping below 30. Is there no one to see how mediocre player he is?
Why pat, starc and hoff playing together again? They are good in ODI no doubt. But I still like to see some young guns get a go. From the statements, it’s clear that losing doesnt hurt them. So why care to play these same blokes again?Lots of why to answer.

Ok. T20 world cup is over. Most of us saying, it’s not a real game. So the main focus will be 2023 world cup.
The preparation begins with England ODI. Paul, how do you think they are gonna perform? I think they are gonna suffer big time.
Apart from Smith and Warner, predictable trio Cummins, Starc, Hazelwood will continue to play. Then there is Maxwell and Stoinis. If they dnt take cue from the Marsh Cup, I dnt know may be a 3-0 white wash coming up.

Matt if you look closely in the last worldcup, everyone performed poor except warner and marsh. thus masking the effect of combine failure. Finch got away, maxwell got away, cummins and starc got away. When warner and marsh failed yesterday, you can clearly see as the masking effect has gone.

This whole team needed revamp after 2022 world cup. If you dnt try new player, how can you know if they will perform at big stage or not.
They tried only Ellis, Green and David. Then playing only 1. I can name at least 10 players, they should have been tried before the world cup. They didnt. This has to be fault of coach and selectors.
