Thanks for your concern Pope Paul VII but my eyes are fine. I don’t think anyone’s eye sight is the problem here. My argument is the bad camera angle has tricked people into believing the ball had completely crossed the line. At no point in the video is it clear the ball is entirely crossed the line. It’s very close no doubt but you cannot say with any certainty from the camera angle shown.

Does this AFLW goal umpire error prove the league needs score reviews?

👍 If there is a referee/umpire of the year award, this guy should get it.

Ridiculously quick thinking Muay Thai ref saves the day

Spot on Paul2, the ball has to be completely over the line. Seems to me that many people either don’t know the rule or don’t understand the effect of camera angles … or both. Since there was no goal line camera, the only person in the right position to judge was the goal umpire. People saying it was goal based on the TV footage are being fooled by the camera angle.

Agreed, you don’t need a conference system if you match the number of rounds with the number of teams in the competition (either playing every other team twice or even just playing them once).

A little patience will help the AFLW go a very long way

I don’t think the AFL understands the purpose of a conference system and/or how to apply it correctly. There are scenarios where a conference system works but the 2019 AFLW season was not one of those scenarios. Maybe, they are getting people use to the idea for next year when four more teams come in. With 14 teams and a 6 round home & away season, the conference system would work … well, work better.
