Have we had any word on how many other visa players are unlikely to return to finish this season?

A-League looking to return in August, complete season in one month

That’s a good get, looking forward to reading.

Cameron Devlin on Ufuk Talay and playing for Australia

I’m not suggesting he be a starting player but giving him the exposure to mix with the squad made mostly of overseas players would be advantageous for his growth given the potential he has already shown.

Great article Jack.

Would love to hear from someone like Ben Halloran or Robbie Kruse regarding the growth of the A-League over the years. Someone who started out in the A-League, headed overseas and returned.

Absolutely agree with a few of the comments below regarding Milos Degenek, would be first choice for me given his form throughout the last few years.

There is a lot to gain from having players such as Al Hassan Toure and Reno Piscopo around the squad even if they aren’t going to get big minutes on the pitch.

The alignment between board and coaching staff seemed way off from early on this season, even before the season. Having players signed only a matter of weeks from the season start really delayed any chance of team unity. If the club trusted Kurz as the main man then they needed to back him with bringing together a squad he could work with. Victory were constantly chasing the pack to make up for the lack of cohesion in pre season.

A-League season review: Melbourne Victory

They may be playing the same sport as those in the English Premier League but the difference in the style of leadership needed could not be further apart. The sport and more specifically the teams are ingrained in the history of families, this means they have to do next to no marketing to get people invested in the clubs. In Australia we have obviously had to try and build this in an already saturated sports market. Australia needs an individual, or team of people that can win over the public in the same way the MLS has been able to, they are the league we should be trying to emulate. Yes, we would love to have the popularity and funds of the English Premier League but that’s currently just not attainable.
