You lost me at “It was a fairly clear example of a hip-drop” and lost all credibility when you clearly dont even know what a hip drop is.

A history of hip-drops: What Super Rugby can learn from NRL & NFL to stamp out footy's most dangerous tackle

Your question and answer is stupid and you are seriously a half wit. Your probably going to raise a little soy boy. I suggest you take whats left of your balls out of your wifes purse. If my kid plays rugby I accept in the hundreds of collisions a game that he may get injured. If my kids beeaks his ankle in a tackle that is not illegal, I accept thats part of the game just as much as it could happen in any tackle or indeed, he could break someone elses ankle in a tackle. And that is the crux of it. You have your knickers in a knot about a tackle that has upset you because of the outcome and not because it was intentional and or illegal, and was not a “hip drop” tackle . If no injury to Lonergan you and no one else would even be talking about it…and you could go back to your daily whinge about being misgendered at workor whatever else upsets you as the delicate little flower you are.

'Just nasty', 'needs to be outlawed': The NRL blight Quade Cooper says rugby must ban in wake of horror blow

Check out picture here. Case closed everyone. Lonergan bumps/fends him off… as upper body goes backwards legs go forward… pure physics. No hip drop.

Please get your fact right. A hip drop is an NRL term for a completely different type of tackle. It is where the defender tackles the player at the hips often from side or behind and then drops their weight down through the players knee area and ends up below their knees. As a result the attacker folds from his knees being buckled. This is not the same as the Tate tackle nor what Larkham is talking about. To refer to the Tate tackle as a hip drop takes away your journalistic credibility.

Honestly believe Quade will be back this season. And Schmidt will have the younger 10s on the bench for development. Quade is exactly the player Schmidt will want as the conductor for a season and by 2025 hope one of the younger players is ready.

“ McDermott wraps his legs around Lonergan using his body weight across Lonergans legs to bring him down”.. not quite what he did as Tate was always side on to Lonergan and his body never ended up on or across Lonergan… but that is pretty much a definition of a cumberland throw. This type of tackle happens all the time. For example often when a player is attempting to tackle another player side on and the attacking player uses a fend, the defender often grabs their outstretched arm/chest/shoulder and will try pull the attacker down. This often involves bringing your legs into the tackle, which is perfectly legal under the laws and is it is just unfortunate Lonergan suffered an injury. You may as well ban the ankle tap as its deliberately targeting the foot/ankle and could result in a serious injury. Either that or wash the sand out of your va@inas.

If no injury to Lonergan… no one would be saying anything.

Its been around for 100 years that type of tackle. Perfected By Parramatta in the 80s.

Its neither if you have Both hands on the player.

Knights are clueless in attack. Need to throw in Will Pryce to see if he can create a threat.

Not according to the laws.

Still not a hip drop tackle.

Not a boxing expert but should have talked ref into calling it a no contest after round 3.

Exactly. Not a hip drop. Hip drop require Tate to put his body onto lonergans legs and fold him. Didnt happen.

I dont think you know what a hip drop is mate. This is not a hip drop – https://www.theroar.com.au/rugby-union/video/graphic-hate-to-see-that-brumby-stretchered-off-after-sickening-injury-1341517/

Rubbish. Watch it again. Classic cumberland throw.

Ive re looked a few times at the Mcdermott tackle. There is no hip drop. He makes contact above the waist and never drops his body onto the legs of Lonergan. What he actually does it swing his leg under Lonergan in a Cumberland throw Ray Price style tackle but at all times has both hands on Lonergan and he stays above his waist. It’s his leg sweep that takes out Lonergan. Perfectly legal.

Agree re Lynagh. Still so young. Schmidt will target next WC and two after that for Lynagh (if he is good enough) but Lions will come too soon. Expect him in squad and few bench appearances over next two years to slowly bring him on.

'It was brutal': Clutch Lolesio kicks Brumbies to 'Test match intensity' win over Reds as Wright shines again

Its irrelevant because Schmidt knows a good game at super level doesnt translate to Intl level. He also knows he is looking for players who fit into his style /game plan irrespective of current form.

'It was brutal': Clutch Lolesio kicks Brumbies to 'Test match intensity' win over Reds as Wright shines again

The question Schmidt will be asking is, can he build a team around Lolesio and will Lolesio be the 10 to beat the Lions and go to a home WC. Can lolesio play the way Schmidt will want him to play. Will it be Gordon or Lynagh or Donaldson/Edmed/Harrison… these are the only questions to ask and the only ones that matter. How he played tonight etc is largely irrelevant.

Roosters clueless in attack. Everytime… ball out the back, Tedesco sweeps behind… thats it. Rolls Royce team with Suzuki Alto attack.

100%. We dont need rocks and diamonds in Wallabies. We need consistent high standards. 23 of those and we will win 60-80% of game. There are no rocks or diamonds players in the top 5 sides in the world.
