The person who let Renno go was basically JD. Bennett disagreed at the time but JD knew better. Seriously, JD has brought all this on himself. No sympathy at all tbh…..thats footy.

'Success hasn't been forthcoming': Souths sack Demetriou after fractured board eventually decides time's up

But thats the problem. JD has already had free reign to recruit the players he wanted. They ended up with Host, Chee Kam, Milne and Thompson.
I agree though that sacking him now is not ideal. It should have happened at the end of last year, Waiting until now has basically resulted in 2024 being a write off.

Milne the best amongst them lol? Surely you jest? The guy was directly responsible for about 4 of the 10 tries Melbourne scored last week. He was awful and has been for some time. He is a park footballer like all the others you mentioned.
And this where their problem lies imo…….depth. Or lack of it. It only took 1 or 2 injuries in the outside backs for it to be horribly exposed. Their top backline as you point out though looks fine.

Agree about the CEO and Board coming under scrutiny. Having said that, JD himself has had a pretty big say in who they have recruited since Wayne left. If you read any Bunnies forum supporters have been screaming for ever about the lack of depth in the outside backs.

With injuries this year to CG, Munro and AJ it has finally come home to roost. They are forced now to include players like Kennar, Milne and Thompson who lets be honest, wouldn’t make any other NRL side. And BTW…..the decision to let Renno go was largely down to him as well. So yeah….the Board should take some responsibility but JD should cop the bulk of it imo

Too old, too slow: Do these two stats explain why Souths have fallen off a cliff in 2024?

Anyone wondering why JD is getting sacked, look no further than the selection of Michael Cheekam over Tallis Duncan for this weeks game. Or perhaps Milne on the wing instead of Jacob Gagai.

JD has a history of head scratching selections and it has come back to bite him. The end can’t come soon enough imo.

'That's it?': Angry Demetriou storms out of 27-second trainwreck press conference as Souths sharpen axe

As a Bunnies fan I can say I have never been so happy that one of our players is suspended. Was lucky he didn’t get more.

Latrell cops lengthy ban for high elbow hit on Johnson as Souths coach laments 'stupid' acts

Ah…the yearly article about how the Bunnies screwed up lol. Come on guys its been almost 3 years now and we are still harping on about this? Reyno is a decent Hb but he’s no JT. He’s gotten his ass kicked twice now in GF’s by Nathan Cleary.
Last year was classic Reyno. Went missing when he should have been wrapping up that game with the lead they had. And if he faces Cleary again in the GF this year the same thing will happen.

Debate is over: Rabbitohs should regret Reynolds roster clanger as Broncos half gets last laugh with contract extension

It’s always amuses me. Since Reyno left for the Broncs the media have fallen over themselves to promote him as some kind of reincarnation of JT. When he was at the Rabbits he got bagged out most of the time for not stepping up in big games. I remember Cronk especially being overly critical.

The truth is that Reyno is a good solid NRL Hb….nothing more. Is he better than Ilias? Definitely….at least at this stage. He has had 2 chances at landing another GF in the last few years and has fluffed both of them. Last years GF was undoubtedly his biggest failure imo. No way should a Hb of his experience allowed that game to slip with the lead the Broncs had.

Having said that I’m pretty sure Ilias is not the answer either although I’d love to be proven wrong. Reyno however is yesterdays news….been there done that. And it didn’t work

Ilias v Reynolds: Will 2024 be the year that proves why Souths were right to let their talisman go?

Not sure about Israels good intentions in funding Hamas Sheek. Netanyahu is quite open about his opposition to a 2 state solution. Having a terrorist organisation in control of Gaza made such a solution much less palatable to the international community. This is the reason for their support……they weren’t being charitable.

Sheek….I’ve guess you’ve got to ask yourself why (as you correctly pointed out) Israel has been funding a known terrorist organisation like Hamas in Gaza for the last 15 years? Did it ever occur to them they might use these funds to help fund a murderous attack?
Unfortunately it is mainly innocent Palestinian children who are paying the price for this folly now.

Stupid comment of the year contender right there. Are you asserting that Usman is encouraging the extermination of the Jewish people? Because thats what it sounds like.
Maybe he is just traumatized by the thousands of innocent children being butchered by 2000 pound bombs dropped in their vicinity every single day. Most sane people (muslim or otherwise) should be traumatized by such things.

Shameful may be a bit harsh but gees……if you are up by 16 with 20 mins to go in a GF you should not just throw it away like the Broncs did last night.

Reynolds famed game management turned to water last night in the face of that Cleary onslaught. As good as he has been this season, he ultimately saved his worst performance for the biggest game of the year.

Cleary's immortal display inspires Panthers to pull off record comeback win for three-peat and break Broncos hearts

Great game again from Penrith but how the hell did Cleary not get sent for an HIA? If that was a regular game he would have been straight off.

ANALYSIS: Good luck everyone else as Penrith have way To'o much power - but Storm did everything to help them

Its been blindingly obvious Cody Walker has been the best 6 in the comp for quite a while. How Freddy and his minions didn’t see this is one of the great mysteries of the universe.

ANALYSIS: Cody Walker stole the show in Origin III - so why didn't Freddie pick him earlier?

One day there will be an investigation into how Sualli became the most overhyped player in the history of the NRL. Almost 2 years into his career and I’ve yet to see him do anything even approaching what Cobbo is capable of. And the weird thing is its taken the media almost all that time to realise he is just an average player.

ANALYSIS: Cobbo steals show, Herbie goes bananas and Dolphins deja vu in Brisbane derby epic

I’m thinking the Roosters will make a play for Hunt. They have massive issues in the halves at the moment and he would be an obvious short term solution for Uncle Nick. The Roosters will give Drew and Jaxon Paulo the flick who will both turn out to be on 700K each in order to fit him in lol.

Dragons CEO responds to Hunt bombshell after star half confirms he wants immediate release

He’s made an entire career out of it. And the media love it and go on about how he’s an “Alpha male.” The raised elbows he and a few other players use are designed specifically to inflict damage on potential defenders if they dare to attempt a legitimate tackle. Just ask Api Korisau.

Just once I’d like to see this bloke cop an extended holiday for his antics. I won’t hold my breath though.

'We’ve had enough of him': Luai calls out JWH for sparking brawl as Roosters hard man awaits charges

I seem to remember George Burgess getting a 2 week holiday for throwing a water bottle a few years back. Didn’t hit anyone and was empty but still got 2 weeks.

By that logic i guess JWH should get at least 4 weeks as the bottle he threw was half full and hit Leniu in the head? In reality though we all know JWH will get off with a fine because….well because he’s JWH and an “Alpha male” apparently.

'We’ve had enough of him': Luai calls out JWH for sparking brawl as Roosters hard man awaits charges

Lazy coaching by Freddie. He thinks just because he picks half the Penrith side they’ll just play like they usually do and win. Unfortunately that’s easy for Billy to coach against as he has years of NRL video footage to work out how to counter it.

There just doesn’t seem to be any cohesive plan with Freddy outside of just turn up and play like Penrith. This was perfectly illustrated by having an attacking weapon like Hynes sitting on the bench for 65 minutes without any concrete plan as to how to get him into the game. Should be Fittler’s last series as coach hopefully.

Battered Maroons pull off stunning comeback on 'really poor' Blues to put Fittler's future in jeopardy

Teddy is on borrowed time as a rep player……just runs in circles most of the time and never even occurs to him to pass the ball.
Cleary…wow a very average game from him. How is a half of his experience not able to orchestrate a win against an 12 man side for the last 10 minutes? Not only did they have 12 men they lost both wingers and had a patchwork back line. Hunt and Fafita in the centres? How are NSW not able to break that down.
Freddie needs to get over the Penrith connection because they played like they’d never met each other in attack.

Battered Maroons pull off stunning comeback on 'really poor' Blues to put Fittler's future in jeopardy

So CG is a plodder? Have you watched any Souths games this year? He has been unstoppable on many occasions in attack as his 11 tries clearly show.
He is the form centre in the comp at the moment. His problem is he doesn’t play for one of Freddies favourite sides. If he was at Penrith or the roosters he would have been picked 2 years ago.

NSW Origin I team: Hynes, Pangai, Young to debut, Turbo, Frizell, Foxx back but duo ruled out in new-look side

Yes it had me bewildered as well at the start of the year that they were 2nd favourites. I mean they were just OK last year and got bundled out pretty quickly in the finals. But sure enough there they were right at the top of the betting.

Did the bookies think that Cheese would be the answer, because he was their only real major signing? Unfortunately he is starting to come into contention for dud buy of the year at this point.
For mine the blame has to be laid squarely at the feet of Robbo and to a lesser extent the media in general. Robbo for basically making a young 20 yo kid in Walker the scapegoat for their on field woes and the media for continuously pumping up their tyres for no discernable reason.

People are feigning shock at their quick demise but the fact is the signs were there last year as well. And the year before if we are being honest. Will be a bitter pill for them to swallow but they haven’t been the same side since Latrell left.

ANALYSIS: Luai picks perfect moment to make Origin case, but Robbo's Roosters are a rabble - and they've lost JWH and Manu

But its the Rooster way lol.

Sualli is fast becoming the most overhyped player in the history of the NRL. Seriously, they guy has been kissed on the arse by a rainbow with the amount of money RU are throwing at him. And this for a player who has played a season and a half of NRL and who I have yet to see really dominate games consistently.

He has the odd decent outing now and then but nothing you don’t see from 3 or 4 other centres in the NRL on a weekly basis. And yet the media have been describing him as a generational player for the last 18 months. I’m still in shock about the cash RU are willing to fork out for this guy. It’s bizarre.

The big call has backfired: Why Suaalii is failing at Roosters - and how Roosters are failing Sam Walker

Entertaining read Damian. I’ve experienced much of what you describe, ironically from my Rooster supporter mates.
They’ve been banging on all week about our salary sombrero and how can Wighton afford to forgo 300k per season. When I remind them that the Cheese went to the Roosters for way less than other clubs offered him they go all quiet lol.
