If he’s like his dad he’s a champion bloke. I moved away before he was born but I still keep in contact with his dad.

Jamieson to 'kill Bambi', yet most fans want to see the good guys slaughter City

Like it, it’s obviously subject to personal tastes and I would argue one or two positions but I certainly get your gist. I’m actually a mate of Lachies dad so glad you chose him haha I would have swapped him and Kaltak around though (sorry Mark in case you see this). I think his reds were harsh but importantly he bounced back stronger. McGarry has gone from strength to strength since he joined but I’m also a fan of Kitto who I think is extremely underated so I would just give him the nod. As for Goodwin, I was calling for him to be capped well before he got his opportunity. Likewise, Gauci looks destined for a long career in the Socceroos. All in all, good choices.

I’m from Adelaide originally but moved to the central coast before the A League started so inherited the Mariners and installed the Reds as my second team. I watch pretty well all A League games and would be lucky to have missed a dozen since it’s inception. I’ve traveled to every state except WA to watch games (it’s on my agenda for next year) and thoroughly enjoy the interaction with other fans. I hold no illusion that things went our way against Adelaide this season and enjoyed the banter with my family and friends in the old hometown. Having said that, there’s been times when the Reds have had the upper hand and not necessarily deserved it. My question to you Secret Scout, if you were to pick an Adelaide Mariners combined team based on form this season, what would it look like, bench included?

you missed out then, I was at the Mariners game and then watched the SFC Wellington game delayed after I got home. I know which was the better one and the other just left me feeling sorry for Wellington.

Does the A-League now just favour teams in Sydney and Melbourne?

Well played, couldn’t agree more in your comments. A bit dismayed at the chatter going on about SFC and Victory keeping tabs on Monty though.

Great memories

The return of A-League's target men

Solid comment. I’ve been an ALeague fan and member since the start. I’ve also been through the highs and lows with my team. I’m tragic enough that I’ve barely missed any of the games played , watching all the teams play on TV. I’ve traveled Australia and to NZ to build holidays around away games. There’s been some great teams to watch through that time, early Victory, Anges Roar, Arnold’s Mariners etc etc. But I reckon the overall play now is as good as it’s ever been. Some of the young players coming through are exciting and while I also don’t have the answers, I can tell you that fans are missing out.

World Cup qualification is great, but what Australia does next is more important

Nice article with good context. I hadn’t heard the commentary because I was at the game. Understand exactly what you’re saying though. Well done.

Commentary in the A-League: A look at Central Coast Mariners vs Newcastle Jets

Bahaha

Each club's state of affairs before the A-League restart: Central Coast

It’s been a tough few years of late that’s for sure but still I live in hope. Just a point of interest, this season has been a bit more promising and the points do not tell the full story. On play we should have at least another 12 points. There isn’t a team in the league that we shouldn’t have beaten or drawn with at least once barr for some very rookie mistakes. Just a note before we get crucified too much. I watch every game of the A League every weekend and have done since the start of the A League. I have travelled to every ground in Australia and to NZ to watch the Mariners play. I’ve only missed attending a handful of home games ever and those due to extreme circumstance. So I’ve seen a lot of A League football and it irks me that you get throw away comments from fans of other teams who really have no idea what they’re talking about.

on the money, at their peak they were one of the four best teams the A League has seen.
