So…..is the NRL paying Eddie’s wage? Seems that he’s doing his level best to complete the demolition job on the Rugby Union that began post 2003.

Shock and raw: New skipper, rookies galore and Test careers brutally ended as Eddie's RWC bombshells CONFIRMED

Now might be a good time to let the Commonwealth Games fade into obscurity given their irrelevance in the World sporting landscape. The British Empire has disintegrated into an ever fragmenting Commonwealth that now only exists once every 4 years for dubious sporting glory. Dan’s call may be brutal, but history could well judge it to be correct. For all the sports people who think it unfair, sorry, but no one else cares.

Scomo could fill all four fast bowling spots and we could have three more batsmen/ allrounders…

Boland, Starc or Hazlewood - which fast bowler should miss cut for Ashes opener?

I’m not sure of all the rules of Rugby and I readily acknowledge that the Wallabies were soundly beaten by a better side but when Moodie scored just before half time many Springbok reserves were rushing across the infield to congratulate and celebrate. My question is this, is that legal or encroachment on the field of play. It didn’t happen this time but possibly in the future it could interfere with defending players and maybe it should be stipulated that anyone other than the 15 playing stay outside the boundaries until the try is awarded.

Great seeing Sam Reid take his opportunities and though Hayward might’ve seemed quiet if you rewatch the game look closely at his defensive work in the forward 50, the Melbourne defenders were constantly under pressure.

English champions Saracens to be relegated for salary cap breach

The first response with lbw should be ball tracking, if it shows that the batsman was out then utilize hot spot and snicko to confirm no bat was involved. With catches snicko and hotspot should be used first. Whether it was a no-ball shoulb be the final qualifier. Totally agree that it should be the Umpires’ decision when they are in doubt.

Player concerns a chance to shift DRS power base

Lol.

The Liebke Ratings: Australia vs New Zealand, second Test

Wade is just keeping the seat on the team bus warm fo Pucovski, the selectors have shown that he is the next number 5 in waiting and when he overcomes his mental health issues sufficiently he’ll be in the team. Few others are showing they are ready to fill the spot.

Australia steal New Zealand's No. 2 Test ranking

Lol, Marnus will finish with more wickets than him.

Mitchell Swepson added to Test squad for SCG Test

I think I’d rate McGrath, Lee and Gillespie with the support of Warne as superior to our current awesome bowling unit but the gap is not gret, especially as Cummins has the potential to be an all time great and Hazlewood when fit is very nearly a McGrath clone. Still, given a couple of weaknesses in our batting lineup I would be hesitant to go with 4 quicks. As for picking Swepson for Sydney I think the selectors would be better served using Labuschagne more, as he’s shown on unhelpful pitches he can be handy.

Positions vacant: Opening batsman and fast bowler

Go back to New Years eve a few years ago and Travis Head dismantled the sixers from an impossible position and it would be hard to see that young fellow knuckle down and put in the hard yards to make his place in the Test team more secure. Other than India no other Test team has as stable a top six now, even given Burn’s struggles and Wade giving his wicket away after making starts.

Head is improving, even if his critics won't admit it

England are losing all semblance of a Test quality batting team, Root is just maintaining some form and Stokes has his moments, but the rest are products of a limited over factory that places strike rate above technique, Jason Roy being a prime example. Once Jimmy and Broad bow out English cricket is looking at along winter of duscontent.

Sorry England bear the brunt of all factors

Maybe his decision was based a little on the fear of what destruction the Australian bowlers may wreak in the first session with a swinging ball. Five down at lunch and the batting team would be gone. Could easily have been the case with Australia but Labuschagne has shown Smith like patience and but for an unlucky deflection off his elbow may still have been there at stumps. I’m willing to bet he will be working on lifting his arms and bat higher when leaving the ball in future.
Apart from Burn’s dismissal the biggest worry seems to be the brittleness of the middl3 order. Wade never looks comfortable though he fights fir every run, and Head doesn’t instill confidence with his airy swings at wide balls outside off.

Steve Smith solves New Zealand short ball riddle

If Peter Siddle is bowling dangerous rearing deliveries then there is definitely something wrong with that pitch.

Extraordinary scenes as Shield clash suspended over MCG pitch safety concerns

If the speeds recorded were lower for all bowlers then yes, blame the radar, but if Archer was markedly slower in comparison to Broad and co than he was in England then it has something to do with stamina and effort. Have any comparisons of all the English bowlers who bowled in both series been published?

Jofra Archer is not the quick fix England crave

And Jofra Archer, heralded as the next superstar fast bowler can’t buy a wicket in New Zealand.

England enters a new phase of Test cricket

If Rugby Union in Australia was to become a “third tier sport” that would mean it’s profile, relevance and popularity would be improved, as it is sub 4th tier currently.

Broncos' David Fifita arrested in Bali

Super Rugby has clearly outlived it’s usefulness. Although it has given Japanese and Argentine access to a higher standard of competition the extended travelling on aircraft can’t be healthy in the long term, and is a major expense of being involved in the competition. 2 teams from Sydney and Brisbane, one from Canberra, Melbourne and maybe Perth and 7 or 8 from NZ would be enough to form a viable top class “product” but it also has to have a free to air presence to compete with AFL & NRL.

A model for stronger and more sustainable rugby

Does anyone really care? Not me for one, I’ll watch as much Test cricket involving Australia as I can, one dayers if I have nothing better to do, t20, well I couldn’t tell you who plays for who in any competition, the “hundred” will pass me by without watching a ball. It’s just not cricket.

Does anyone really care about The Hundred?
