Definitely. While the Jaguares were kind of dispointing in SR, I hope Pumas will deliver. we have e better team than last 4 years on June test, although a bit tired and burnt. Hope they can switch their heads.

10 Nations Rugby is back for 2016: Rugby's most prized hypothetical trophy

As of this week:

– New Zealand
– Australia
– South Africa
– England
– Argentina
– Wales
– Ireland
– France
– Scotland
– Japan

Due to Wales loss to England in warm up match, that was official.

There is a lot to check on Jaguares side.. The two red cards we actually red cards amd we can simply not do that at this level (it would be 70 points against the sharks).
But still it took a doubtful yellow and an unvisitable penalty try and some other call to turn the tide…

Jajajaja 🙂

Yeah! Lots of pressure! This guy Briant is awesome! 🙂

Referi hijo de mil pxxx!!! Sorry guys.. We knew it from the beginning, we expected that. But the extend of this “home” advantage is outrageous…

Kings vs Jaguares highlights: Kings beat 13-man Jaguares

This is incredible and not necessary. Beside the two reds card, the ref go only one way in last quarter… The yellow? Really? Penalty try? We had 5 similar penalties against the sharks and no luck..

Senatore conduct is off of sportsmanship and probably the second offence should have more weeks (or months) banned. It’s simply not acceptable.

Life sentence? It’s a bite in the arm with no intention to actually do long term damage, he did it just to get free of the arm in his neck. It’s ok? NO!!! But is not a kick in the head! Or should he had to choose to grab his hand and break a finger? Its a continuity of the game after all… But once again NO, he shouldn’t! There are situation more close to the boundaries of the law that made with malice are far worst than what he did. He should go for help and get some control technique for a change…

The other question is why UAR has not acted on his own? I think we are still far away from SANZAR unions maturity level. We are willing to learn, and this case should be used for that.

NONE of what follows is mitigation factor nor an excuse: Being an Argentina fan, a whipping one, at one point you get frustrated with referees. You know you are playing in the uphill, you need to play 110% just to get a chance, they you got a Ref that no matter that you are producing for good, you got penalized. 50%/50% situations become 20%/80% in sanction. The same situation is not judged the same way, getting always the worst part. Pumas and Jaguares adaptation to SH “rules” has played it parts, but I assure that is beyond that. Pumas has gotten more respect from the referees, and I hope Jaguares will. But it not happening yet, and some time that drives you mad. Just for you to be sympathetic, remind how you felt when your fan heart was on the opposite side of Richie McCaw… Some times it drives you mad…

PD: I never played professional, I represented my province in U21, I only was sent off one in my lifetime. I was bitten once (and reacted with a punch). And while I said some harsh word after the match, I still have the offending player on facebook, talk to him occasionally and say ‘hi’ on the street when we cross each other. Should he had a long ban.. probably… he nickname was “the Dog” 🙁

Twice bitten: Senatore gets to play on after second offence?

Nice Idea, BA Jaguares vs Interior Yacares (like crocodile- or any other name….) It will become and instant classic, but will go to violence rather quick… not a god timing though… Lukily this division has been healing for a while. The division is now more like those who are OK with professionalism and those who are not comfortable with. As Carlos mention, traditional Clubs used to be a elite where players can devote their life to rugby as they were supported by a wealthy family of had good player “work” in some company owned by the club members. Now many of the Jaguares and Puma players come from Interior, even small unions like Santiago del Estero.

Rugby in Argentina: How to understand the Jaguares and Pumas

On the stadium issue, I don’t think is really a priority, although a 15K/20K stadium in outside Buenos Aires be handy for other use besides Jaguares, but not main Pumas events.
Other investment as proper locations for the 5 high performance centers could help more the rugby development. Center with housing housing capabilities, gym and other supporting stuff that help mostly U-19 teams would have a much greater impact.
Using the current football stadiums insfrastructure in BA and the interior should be good enough. The stadium rotation and the provinces government bidding for a spot has given UAR a good economic result as they don’t pay for stadium usage. Even Futbol (Soccer) team is starting to rotate as they realized the same.

NIce article Carlos! Nice description and Narrative on Argentinian Rugby.
I still can’t believe how Gus Pichot is still criticized by many people here. He is a true leader that helped inside the field and mostly outside the field to get argentine rugby to it current state. It was not only him, many people worked before. Although not all off them pushing on the same direction as you described.

Luckily, he is OK. Not so much his car..

Argentina rugby star in car crash

That’s great! I’m tatengue, so I can’t wish you good like for this weekend 🙂
They tryed to convince CASI to build on his stadium, But they didn’t agree. A national training camp would be more beneficial, similar to the AFA (futbol association) with hotel to host U20 and players form other locations. With first world facilities and professionals.

BTW: I would love to play the All Blacks in the Bombonera!!! But I the ingoal there would not fit at all.

All Blacks set for return to Buenos Aires

Bostero right? And yes.. It’s about time, Although with the money you spend in a stadium you can can safely develop another 10 years of steady growth down here. So let it be the “Gallinero” or the “Fortin” for some years to come and invest that money on a world class training facility for Jaguares, Pumas and the next SR team, and 5 second class facilities around the country!

All Blacks set for return to Buenos Aires

Good games! It’s a pitty Pargauay is not there. They are better than Brazil, although everyone are willing Brasil would lift off..
It’s great to have competitions. A ARC “B” should be in place with promotions/relegation, so Paraguay, Colombia, many form Caribean and Mexico can compete too!

Americas Rugby Championship reloaded

Right! Shame on me…”Corderito” it is!!!

Can anyone prevent a Wallabies versus All Blacks final?

I have three arguments against: Imhoff, Camacho, Tuculet. But I can find a pack of another reasons.
Next week you will supporting them! 🙂

Did you see the game in Durban?

Pumas pursue World Cup dream against Wallabies

Not pushing backwards?? Found it!

I would be great! Thanks for your wishes 🙂

You remember the “hands of god”, but in the same game there was the best goal ever by the same Maradona.
Overall I don’t think Brits are the most whingers. As an Argentinian I would say that Brazilians are always whinging when you play hard in soccer.. 🙂

While in Rugby England, Australia, New Zealand and Southafrica tends to be very respectful on referees, the problem with Irish, Scots, Wales and I would include Argentina, it’s that referee tends to favor the ‘big’ countries. It’s so much easier to be always in the edge for Richie Mc Caw than for ‘Corcho’ Fernandez Lobbe…

Well, I’ll stop! I’m whinging my self now…

Are the Brits (and the Irish) sport's biggest whingers?

I’m ashamed of that! That’s a bad behavior imported from Football (soccer)!
Though its only one two dollars laser, not 1000’s!
By the way that’s was corrected this year.

SPIRO: Joubert has been dudded by World Rugby for correct call

We tried to win and subdue the Aussie pack, but the lost opportunity backfire.

I remember that Pumas move forward a meter or so at least twice, but ones again, I might be wrong…

About Rosario, not the way I remember 🙂 But probably you are right.

Anyway that was a turning point not only for the game, but probably in Argentina rugby history. After this game Tati Phelan resigned as a coach and Hourcade step forward to go beyond with an expansive game plan.

To blame a ref for a single call is short sighted. As in this case you have to blame the scots for the call in the Line-out!

But some times it’s not just a call, but a bias…

SPIRO: Joubert has been dudded by World Rugby for correct call

… NZ and ARG!
On the main subject of the article. They throw Craig Joubert to the wolves. The should emphasized that the ref could not go to TMO and has to do the decision on the go, and just say polite that “it seems that Nick Phipps try to play the ball, in that case…”.

On the other hand, is good to officially review those plays. As an Argentinian, I felt infuriated several time by ref calls, because it’s easier to err against Argies or Scots than against the All Blacks or Wallabies.

By the way, I was in Rosario Central turf when Barnes forgot about the Penalty Try when the Pumas has a great momentum. I hope next Sunday he will make the right calls!
