Never want to see a player get away with a cheap shot but I think that one of Australian Rugbys issues for the past decade or so has been our apparent lack of physicality and hard edge where our forwards would put players like Finau on notice that if he wants to hit the halves he’s got to go through our forwards to get them. Our most recent ‘enforcers’ have mostly ended up being a yellow card liability.
'Purely coincidental': Chiefs coach defends bruiser after ANOTHER late shot leaves Tah flattened - but was it legal?
Yeah unfortunately the refs hands are tied once he deems foul play prevented a try It’s an automatic yellow card
'Tough call': Reds too good for Tahs in cracking Aussie derby, as controversial penalty try, yellow to Jorgo proves telling
Agreed. I’ve coached for 30 years from juniors to 1st grade and we’ve had some sort of structure in our counter at all levels. I can’t believe that players playing for their country find this ‘mind blowing’. Further evidence that our coaching pathways are more screwed up than our player pathways. Too many connected people getting coaching jobs without enough coaching of the coaches perhaps.
