He (Pim) said from the start of his tennure that he would take moore for his experience that was so needed. I agree with people that say they are worried about his inability to change, when despite the horrific leadup and displays by moore, he is still there on the plane.

God forbid, he has built his team and our hopes around a hasbeen. My jury is back, there will be no tears shed in my “mancave” when Pim Ver Beek goes home to his family.

At the time he made the comments about the A League, he had my confidence, but now he has shown his true colours, he destroyed the lives and teams chances by telling the boys that to be chosen they needed to be playing in quality leagues?????, WTF was moore playing in. Don’t worry about how Carle feels, how about the boys that took him at his word????.

I am looking forward to the efforts that the boys are going to put in for me in SA, I don’t care about the results.

Do we trust Pim's decisions on World Cup squad?

just finshed reading Craig Fosters new book. What a load of horse turds. By half way thru I was imagining all the barca players in tights and tutus, with itlays players all wearing tiarras for head bands such is the beautiful game. Cods whallop to most of it I say, we could beat anybody if everybody tackled like grella and cahill, after ten minutes their ballet slippers would be ruined and we could stomp their toes into oblivion.
oh !!!!! …. there were a couple of pages that didn’t make me puke, the bit about maths was not as bad as the rest, it sort of made sense.
Oh !!!! …. and the bit about technique and technical aspects of the game I sort of new already but he put it into more context for me so now I know whether the player is crap or should dance solo..
Oh !!!! ….. and the geometry bit made sense and went well with the maths bit which sort of made the coaching style make more sense. Yeah that bit was good actually, and when I replayed the NZ game my thoughts on much of the play and players I needed to change.

I’m watching the replay now for the third time and the game is getting more interesting each time.

Yes, I’m convinced that Craig Foster is a nitwit and a stooge. if he had presented this book years ago think of all the wasted time he would have saved me, and all the enjoyment he has made me miss out on. The bastard didn’t mention Manchester United more than twice and then it was only in relation to a couple of players, that was not warranted, I’m not game to watch the games of MU I have on tape in case I see things with my new eyes that I mightn’t like …… what a dilemma.

I’ll probably be glued to the tv now for the next couple of months which will surely end in divorce …. read his book at your own peril…. I now think that Pim Ver Beek had a game plan when he took on the job, probably with some hindsight from hiddinck, and he hasn’t wavered from that opinion the whole way, even to keeping with moore and taking injured players that he said he wouldn’t do, everybody had to be fit ?????? and playing in a good league ?????? moore ???????.

Ten things we need to know before World Cup

Oh yeah !!!! …. you forgot ” where there is smoke there is fire”.

It is not about the game, the game is the subeterfuge put up by News Ltd to divest punters of their cash. It was all about cash and cash will in the end win no matter how many royal commissions are held. Politicians are not held accountable for their statements or promises and neither are company directors or spokesmen. What must happen is that justice must appear to happen, and News Ltd must come out clean.

Today you don’t listen to what is said, you have to listen to what is not said.

Forr example,, Bellamy at no time professed their innosense, he did not deny that the rorts did not occur. He did say that they would defend themselves against them.

If what Waldron is saying about everybody doing it, and there appears to be many people prepared to say that they were, and wait until there is money on the table to speak out, then Gallop will have to treat them equally, sponsors will disappear and that will be the end of the NRL. Gallop will have to go before that happens eh!!.

Tip of the iceburg ……

The eye of the Storm is always blind

What’s more concerning are the comments from Waldron that “every body is doing it”, and comments that others are making about houses being built. The storm is really only the tip of the iceberg, when the others are discovered and subjected to the same penalties as the storm, there will be no sponsors and no nrl left to fight over.
Now that’s what I call administration.

Storm penalties obliterate the game: Eddie McGuire

Nothing will get support better than “value for money”, it is what everybody experiences every time they put their hand in their pocket to pay the bill, or need to choose the commodity they are going to spend their hard earned cash on. Accountant type administrators that think that the average punter will fork out whatever the freight is for a game should have a reality check. There are a few dedicated supporters that will pay through the neck for a ticket but that really only feeds the whingers and discontent if a bad result of hoof and chase football is lost..
The other point that would worry me about this tribute game is the popularity of muscat ??????, If it was his last game, and they were playing a select group of A league players that had copped his elbow or studs in the past, I would pay double the going rate to watch the payback, bugger the football.

Are we trying to entice fans or drive them away?

In your “eloquent” character assassination you have insulted everybody who has responded to this piece, that must make you feel good.

One thing that is not in any doubt is Foster and Murray’s knowledge of the game. I doubt very much that you know them as you say, and if I were you I would not be critical of Mark Bosnitch’s ability to string a couple of words together because it looks to me as if you lost your way trying to finish your verbose ramblings.

At a rough guess I would say that you are old school, still feeling hard done by the criticism of all and sundry about the old football scene. Get over it.

.

We need to listen to Fozz on the A-League crisis

At least you have to give Foster the credit for not trying to take up a coaching role, when his obvious talent is in Administration. His knowledge of the game nobody can deny, whether you like his opinions oor not.

Saying that he should prove himself in a coaching role and that would give him creditability is a nonsense, he has probably forgotten more about football than most of us would ever know, and I don’t like the man. Whenever I want to hear his opinion on something he doesn’t comment.

We need to listen to Fozz on the A-League crisis

Might I commend you on your comments, but, if Foster, you say , has no idea, when he says how football should be played. How does that differ from you saying that it isn’t, and recommend Brazil or Italy ????.

I would love to have commentators with enough insite into football to be able to describe to me what I am watching at the level that you , and Foster, obviously enjoy it at.

We need to listen to Fozz on the A-League crisis

No beverage made from grapes would be any good in the Melbourne Victory vineyard. 2009 has been a very dry year in their part of town. “Whines” have developed a very bitter and acidic taste, with a sour attitude prevalent.

Maybe a new wine maker will make a difference next year.

Sour grapes in this bottle of Muscat?

Foz is/does come across as an arrogant “”know it all””, as does his “”stuck up” colleague Les Murray, but I still read and respect their opinions. Their ideas shouldn’t be brushed aside due to character assination by critics whose aspirations in the game are unknown. I wasn’t aware of their being ostresised by Fox, but that would explain their odd three way “Tete a tetes” in that ridiculous coffee lounge scenario which makes me feel like I am eaves dropping.

Both talk about football at a much higher level than I can understand, only picking up bits and pieces that make sense. I don’t buy books anymore, but I will invest in the one mentioned in the article, I only hope it is written in a language I can understand.

Of the opinions stated in various media that I have read, I would like them to listen to Foster.

I hope Kalac finds his spot on the media bench very quickly and not in the spotlight, what an idiot. There is an old saying, “sometimes it is better to shut up and stay a fool, than speak up and prove it.”

We need to listen to Fozz on the A-League crisis

Yes … I think you would get an argument as you suggest ….. Scot Jameson ??????. A total non event this season, other than …………….. with honours from the Muscat / Tiatto school of Australian Football Thuggery. His only saving grace as far as I am concerned is that he knows how to kick a ball 6 out of ten times, compared to 4 out of ten from the average A League player. Unfortunately he kicks more opposing players than he does the ball.

FFA must get serious about marquee players

If you were earning a couple of hundred thousand dollars per week, you would do what ever you want as well.

Why football struggles for support in Australia

Mr Football …….. no ….. make that ………. MR FOOTBALL.
You are the reason that the FFA and the A League are in trouble.

They must have been standing behind you in the line when they were giving out intelligence.

If only the decision makers would listen to you..

A-League issues won't hurt World Cup bid

I would need to know if Farina had been drinking before I would give anything he had to say any credit, not to mention the obvious opposition to him as he wants the same position.

Farina warns Fowler player-coaching too tough

Reality check ….
In the Aleague tipping comp I was a miseraable ? out of some 2400 odd participants. Not a problem I thinks to myself, I started late.
Joined the NRL tipping comp on day one, eagerly awaiting the results and find that before the first ball is kicked I am 24573 out of 24573. Now I realise what a job the Aleague has in front of it.
In the old days, the NRL had the support of the multinational community and embraced it. Lately there has been some ethnic polarization with the likes of Canterbury, but in general it is still multinational based supporter base.
The problem in the Aleague’s late start is that the fan base is no longer a multinational conglomeration of people, it is population base of multiple nations, like Sydney, Campsi is Korean, then you have all the chinese suburbs, Marrickville is predominantly Vietnamese, Leichadrt has the best Pizza, Auburn and the west is Arabic, I’m sure you know what I am talking bout here, and it is nota racist thing, it is a reality that Gov and political spinners try to shove under the carpet. I personally enjoy this situation as to get really good Vietnamese food you know where to go, like Pizza etc.
I went to an NBL game at the entertainment Centre in the Kings Heyday, right in the middle of Chinatown, I counted seven chinese people in the crowd of nine thousand. The Kings have since died, because the media spin doctors believed that Sydney needed to be won over for the sport to succeed. I say B….sh.t, they should have left the game power brokers in Melbourne and worked on the pockets of support to grow the league. The big money advertisers are not interested in trying to help a sport grow, they want the support fully grown and then they will come on board.
The problem of the ethnic rivalry will diminish as the new blood comes thru wanting to play for Australia, and I hope that that time comes in my life time.

Melbourne's new rivalry will revive the A-League

To my mind, Payne is guilty on two counts. Firstly, he is guilty of excellent heading technique, his arm extended as it was in the direction he wanted the ball to go, I am sure is the right heading technque. His arm was up in postion well before the ball was even close, he put his arm up as he was taught in how to direct the ball.
Secondly, and the glaring fault, is that he closed his eyes, you can see it clearly on the replay. He was not to know that when the ball hit his arm it was not already over the line, when the goal was awarded, I can see that he would not have been aware of the controversy, just that he had a hand ( now that’s a pun) in another goal.
No where near as blatant as the Henry goal where he controlled the ball twice to be able to redirect it.
I would give the boy the benifit of tyhe doubt, and commiserations to Herbert, who has proved that he is a class act in an ordinary group, but guilty of pinning his hopes on an injured striker.

Can Payne be excused or is he the A-League’s Henry?

Well ……..that makes one !!!!

I want Aloisi to stay: Lavicka

“The Dutchman, whose two-year stint guiding the Socceroos to the World Cup and Asian Cup has earned him a reputation for producing results but not necessarily spectacles, said there would be a focus on entertaining.”

It is comments like this that really get my dander up, I am insulted to have to read this non informed muck raking journalism. THE DUTCHMAN, is a football coach, juggling the committments of an incompetent, (no that’s a bit harsh, they only seem incompetent from the way things have materialised) , FFA Board who is only interested in producing a $ by way of their Football vehicle, even though he doesn’t get to use his best players because of conflicting interests with other $ generating organisations with more “clout” than the FFA,

His results have been excellent and the measure of his succe4ss as required by his employer and now he is being expected to produce an entertaing game from the leftovers talent at his disposal, against a coach who recognises the useless point of trying to gain a result against a team so much higher in world rankings that doesn’t want to risk his c hances either. They are not bloody magicians and I cannot imagine how this game can be conjured up as being entertaining or even meaningful, but is a final grab for fans $’s before departure and the coaches will cop the fallout from the sceptics as usual, and the author of this piece is probably the only person that will enjoy the situation.

“Spleen vented” that feels much better !

Verbeek silent despite rumours of his depature

Well, riveting promotion for the upcoming NZ v Aus. Both teams are going to take it seriously and fuel the rivalry factor blah blah blah.but not play their top teams blah blah blah.

I hope the tickets are going to be free, good opportunity to clean the toilet bowl or paint the loungeroom. Paint the loungeroom probably, then I will have something more exciting to watch while the game is on, I’ll have to check and make sure I don’t use a fast drying paint though.

What an insult to the Melbourne sporting public. Everybody knows that if you kick a ball in Melbourne, 30,000 people will turn up to see where it went, but to exploit this amazing devotion to sport is probably where the FFA will get it wrong.

Oh !!!! great news item about Jason Culina, wait a minute ????, that’s not news either. I’m not sure I really care now, I want to be positive about his and the socceroos future, but … there’s only so much drawn out non suspense that a person can bear.

If the item had mentioned what sort of coffee they were drinking or how many sugars, that would have been more interesting???

Verbeek silent despite rumours of his depature

Adelaide, apart from a lapse of discipline that yielded a number of yellow cards, to my mind looked the goods tonight. I thought that the camera work of the coverage was good, ie they panned back far enough to see the tactics and defensive lines, but the commentary was worse than ordinary, I usually like Fox’s commentators.
I continually read about no players coming through the system, Leckie showed outstanding ability in the “Hangtime” header, the run in, the timing, the placement and even managed to make the cross look a good one.
I would seriously consider that the “game” put on by Adelaide would probably solve a lot of the FFA’s ALeague problems if some of the other teams would lift to that standard.
Congratulations to Vidmar and his team on an excellent presentation.

New-look Adelaide continue to impress in Asia

It worrys me all the “”dirty washing” that gets aired in the press, and being in the vicinity of Newcastle I see and hear most.

If I was a player and I had a choice of who would get my services, I would first not want to go to a club where there is so much noise made about players non payments, pitch rentals not paid blah blah blah. Bloody minded Boss who doesn’t pay and doesn’t do anything wrong, blah blah blah.
I personally, see the Jets as a team of misfits with a magician coach. A very unstable club with a very unstable management history in an environment with very unstable sports teams in general. The Knights are borderline with an obvious drug culture and the basketball teams all failed.

It doesn’t matter who did what to whom, this is the perception I have of Newcastle Sports Teams and owners, and I have made this opinion from what I have read in the local papers and media. With support from this media, who needs enemies ????

An open letter to Jets boss Con Constantine

Really happy that I have Fox as I am unable to attend games.
Unfortunately I struggle with Commentators that describe Muscat as “Hard and physical “etc, all I see is a bloody cheat that exploits the system and the definition of fair play. I don’t see how hard and physical fits with the beautiful game. The fox commentator described the referee as economical with yellow cards, in other words, people like Muscat can exploit the edge of physical to the beautiful games detriment. A referee that is “economical” with yellow cards, is not calling the game impartially, a yellow card offense is a yellow card offense. In the second half he refrained from showing a yellow card that would have seen the player off for a sec card, That is the game rules, not the referee’s discretion.

Gripping night at the SFS as the GF heads to familiar turf

To me, this article and the comments by Colosimo, give credence to the comments by Mr Ver Beek in that the A – League is not up with Europe. All practice sessions should be intense, and players shouldn’t take any practice session lighthly, or of lessor importance than a game for your country.
Not to practice at the top of your intensity is to practice mediocrity, and to my mind the A – League reeks of it. A couple of runs and the A League strikers are sucking air and skying balls all over the place because they can’t control their feet.. Defenders ambling back and formations breaking down, tackling with elbows and grabbing shirts.
I recognise these things because I , unfortunately, am one of those that had mediocrity down to a fine art. If only somebody had put their foot down or “kicked my” a….” , I will never know how far I could have gone. I hate to see today’s players making the same mistakes. I hope somebody on the central coast reads this.

Fringe Socceroos playing for keeps as stakes rise

Football Person: You question whether I watch the league, what are you some sought of politician, or politically correct nonentity?. Your statement about the league haveing the most quality yet, what does that mean. It could mean that last year there was no quality, that’s a bit harsh isn’t it?. The rest of your comments indicate that you prefer to live in the past. I would ask you if you have seen any games “THIS YEAR”????.
Not for one moment did I say that the league has No quality. I said that the level of skill on display is down.
How would you classify the skill of the Central Coast Mariners in front of goal the last five games? for example.
I am very much in admiration of Melbourne, Sydney, Wellington and now Brisbane’s programs, At least evry now and then they build an attack.
It sounds like you are a Brisbane Roar fan, surely you don’t condone the ugly display that the “old boys” put out in recent games, Do you actually watch any games?

Craig Moore offered World Cup lifeline

My sentiments exactly. Moore has been a stalwart and fine contributor to Aussie Football, probably even in the top five, but his performances this year are embarrasing. I am glad to see that I am not the only one of this opinion. I also think that the public lose confidence in commentators that still try to call that the sun still shines from the nether regions of Moore, because we have eyes, we also have brains, well some of us do.
To my mind it is simple, crowds are down because Football skills are down.
