Riiiiiight. 16 v 18 in Perth got a bigger crowd than 1 v 2 in Melbourne. 😂

What is the sporting capital of the world?

They were equal, and better managed. Hence the VFL going bankrupt by poaching non Victorian players to try make it a better league.

What is the sporting capital of the world?

How dare West Coast lobby for an advantage that Victorians take for granted every year. The cheek of them.

AFL power rankings Round 13

Are you seriously suggesting our Fremantle Dockers supporting Premier is trying to buy West Coast a premiership? That’s laughable. The money is what the AFL would make from the games. As for round 18, West Coast are well within their rights to put it to the Kangaroos. They are out of finals contention and need the money. An Optus gate receipt is big dollars for them. By that stage West Coast would have played 9 games (more than half the season) in Queensland, so what’s the problem with it being in Perth?

AFL power rankings Round 13

It’s not a variety of reasons. It’s one very simple reason. As XI highlighted, it’s home ground advantage. In all likelihood the non Victorian sides would have won all of them if fairness came into the equation and they got the home ground advantage they earned.

Ranking the best Grand Finals of the decade

Hawthorn is not as obvious a choice as many are suggesting. Their 3 premierships were all against non victorian teams who were at a significant disadvantage considering home ground advantage being gifted to the Hawks for 2 of those games that they didn’t earn. Had 2014 been played in Sydney and 2015 in Perth (who both finished higher on the ladder) then the Hawks would likely have 1 flag and West Coast and Sydney 1 more each. Any genuine sports supporter (yes, including Victorians) would agree the current MCG contract compromises the integrity of the game.

Hawthorn are not the best AFL club of the decade

Oh the irony. Collingwood fans were merciless with Dom Sheed at the MCG in the grand final rematch earlier this year. His only crime was having the audacity to kick the winning goal in the grand final. Glass houses people.

The post-game booing controversy that is dividing opinion in the AFL

^^^What he said.

Why Collingwood’s midfield is now the best ever

I must say Peter, you are the most objective Pies supporter I have ever seen. Always very balanced in your comments. West Coast midfield were exceptional in this years GF, however (and I am somewhat bias) I have never witnessed an AFL midfield quartet to match Cox, Judd, Cousins and Kerr. Just shades Brisbane’s midfield from the early 2000s IMO.

Why Collingwood’s midfield is now the best ever

I’m not sure where you got this information from. West Coast and Fremantle most certainly pay rent at Optus Stadium. At one point West Coast threatened to continue playing at Subiaco Oval as the initial rent proposal was viewed as excessive.

How to reduce stadium construction costs – and then pay for it

Mike I suggest you check your history. The league was finished and Victorians can thank West Coast and Brisbane for saving it. Those two clubs didn’t join the AFL, they founded it with the other teams who commenced in 1990.
