Farrell is a talent. He took Azarni apart a few games back. With Arnold using Bos up the park, Goodwin likely to be rested over the next two dead rubbers and Aziz needing a run coming off injury, I see Farrell being selected in the squad against Palestine and Bangalardesh and getting some game time in those games. Australia has a shortage of left footers (as well as attacking mids and centre forwards who can actually score) Farrell will be value going forward for the Roos for 10 years or more. He needs to be brought in asap

'One of the best fullbacks in Australia': Just how high is Jacob Farrell's ceiling?

why would uzbekistan be more attacking? they only need a draw against the Roos to progress in second place. no guarantee that they will take the risks involved in trying for a win and lose which would see them knocked out of the tournament entirely to finish 3rd in the group. Counting your chickens before they hatch is never a good strategy.

Rookie Socceroo defender hammered for 'honking' and 'embarrassing' Asian Cup effort - but pundit hails key contribution

ok. i would be looking at Panos Armenakis if Mabil is out. check him out on Transfermarket. in top form albeit in usa league.

Arzani and Fornaroli strengthen Socceroos case to send Vuck top with Big Blue blowout

Why are Panos Armenakis currently in the USA and Raffael Rech in Brazil constantly ignored by Australian selectors?

doing well young Farrell. Beat Arzani easily last time out.

mabils not injured
hes playing well atm

no way Arzani can be selected for the socceroos after 1 performance. 1 goal in a dozen games is entirely inadequate and he was easily beaten by young Farrell at Mariners last time out. Bruno should be selected. He is in great form and offers a different type of attacking option to Duke while Taggart and Mac Claren are either injured or not in top form. Yengi is too similar to Duke but his time will come soon. Yengi is a big strong boy and if he can string some games together he is one for the future but not at the moment. Asia Cup Finals is not a development opportunity. It’s there to be won and fit and in form players need to be selected. That means Metcalf, Bachus, Irvine starting in the midfield with Luongo, O’ Neil, Robertson or Silvera as backup mids and Goodwin, Duke and Boyle starting in attack with Mabil, Fornarolli, M Toure as back ups. Neither Tillio nor Garang Kuol are setting the world on fire atm. Defence is a bit of a problem but Aitkinson is back playing full games for Hearts albeit on the wing and in the midfield and Lewis Miller is going great guns at Hibs. With Strain still injured and Degenek without game time, Miller and Aitkinson seem to be the only options available at right back. All of these players are in good form and should acquit themselves well. Only hope Langarek accepts a call up after the way Arnold ignored him for the World Cup.

so Leckie got injured again in the Asia Club match and Mac Claren is also carrying an ankle injury. So that makes Ryan, Aitkinson, Lecks, Strain, Macca, McGree…who will play right back? Ryan Grant or Josh Risdon to the rescue ?

Langerak on track for Socceroos start at Asian Cup with Ryan undergoing surgery after training mishap

Arnold won’t select him…he would select Ryan even if he was in a wheelchair

Langerak on track for Socceroos start at Asian Cup with Ryan undergoing surgery after training mishap

yes. after making this comment i read the knights are broke. which is unfortunate.as they are a strong community based club with history and a good supportrr base. i stick by my.other comments tho especially the broadcast.points. Here isvanother example. The golden triangle in vic between ballarat and bendigo ( including castlemaine, Maryborough etc) has a population of approximately 300,000 and.no.sporting team in a national comp. It is also is a zone for broadcast.licence purposes so.it has its own broadcasters. Southhampton in England has a population of about 250,000 and until recently survived in the EPL for 20.odd years so the population in the golden triangle area would be sufficient to sustain a team . A composite team from the golden.triangle in vic would have had a good chance.of being successful in the new league because it would have had a good supporter base to develop and a potentially healthy broadcasting audience. I really think the criteria for selecting licencees is flawed. In my view the inclusuon of avondale shows that. Whether avondale.is sucessful.or not.is irelevant.because it will never contribute to the growth.of the game in Australia. It is a completely invented ‘artificial’ club with.no.connections to a community base at all. Even if it is successful, no.matter how many trophies it wins, it will be irrelevant to the.purpose.of the new competition. This is why Aust football comps fail. Participant clubs are included because they have financial support.even though.they have.no supporter base. But financial.stability comes with having a strong supporter base which can generate ticket sales, broadcast revenue and sponsorship. Which.is why the inclusion.of Avondale.is a poor decision because it offers none of those things

A 12 team NST? Why Australian football needs to trust the process, and what four more teams could look like

Including adelaide city defeats some of the purpose.of Adelaide United. Adelaide United got its support from west adelaide and adelaide city. On the.other hand SE Adelaide Metro Stars are thriving and any licence.involving them.is a good idea…jowever i think they could represent the whole state and change their name to.relect that i.e. eg SA Stars.

What have Avondale got to offer except money? They have no supporters, no ground, no history. They were a private ‘club’ completely set up by some financially endowed businessmen as a passion and hobby project. they have.no community roots at all. They offer.nothing to the new comp. On the other hand the.Knights have tradition, supporters, success and their own large stadium

if football wants to advance it needs to exploit weaknesses in its competitors…for example teams from larger regional population centres which.have strong broadcasting outlets e.g. woollongong, canberra, Albury, Gold Coast, the whole.of Tasmania. If a team from tassy was brought in they would have a supporter base and.potential broadcasting audience of 500,000. I think the process has doomed to fail from the start because broadcasting potentials have been ignored in favour of financial stability right from the start. I mean Avondale…are they kidding?

i think some of these armchair experts get taken in too easily by dumb msm who know nothing about football

Nine potential Socceroos 9s: Can one of these prospects lead the line in Qatar?

Lachlin Brook is a better option than G Kuol.

left footted burgess at right back? surely lewis miller is a better more athletic younger right footted option there than burgess

with a tasmanian united side you get a clear identity, a whole state in solidarity with the team and revenue from broadcast rights

The APL wants a 16-team A-League men's by 2026 - so after Auckland and Canberra, who's next?

Lewis Miller says he wants to play centre back

For Socceroos to win Asian Cup, Arnie must get crucial No.6 selection right

and Tirese Franscois at Fulham

Missed Tirese Francois…very good with the ball at his feet and a left footer. Was excellent when captaining the U 23s earlier this year. Arnold needs to bring him along

For Socceroos to win Asian Cup, Arnie must get crucial No.6 selection right

Christian Volpato has the same physical attributes as Christian Renaldo with 1 difference. Volpato s a left footer. He, man mountain Jack Iredale and Noah Botich must be considerrd as centre forwards going forward. Iredale at 188 cm is a super sized younger Mitch Duke who is 183 cm. Alternatively, give Harry Souttar time at cf and bring in circaci at centre back. many.players are being ignored. Gersbach needs a go as do left footed wingers Pamos Armenakis and Peter Gwargis. Although I think gwargis may have shunned Aust for sweden.

Arnie believes in a new Socceroos golden generation - here's what he must address

agree. the olyroos won every game when Italiano was down back. Rawlins lacks pace and, with a taller gk reducing the need for two giant cb, Rawlins is a genuine.option at cb.

Same old story when it comes to tournament football and the Olyroos

Roos need to try John Iredale and accelerate the development of Botich. Noah Botich proved highly effective in Toulouse with the u 23s.

Argentina vs Socceroos takeaways: Void up front, Bos impresses, Arnold mixes it up

Daniel is not a winger. He lacks the pace for a winger. He could be a great controlling or attacking mid in the style of Mooy because his dribbling is excellent if he can get his passing in order. Wont be surprised to see him in the midfield for Victory

Daniel Arzani 9.0: Is he any good, or are we simply sick of waiting?
